Lost Gold & Diamonds Wedding Ring at Lanikai Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when Nikki from Aiea, Hawaii reached out to me on the Metal Detecting Oahu Facebook page.  I posted my number and she called immediately.  While at Lanikai Beach with her children she had taken off her Engagement and Wedding rings and put them in a puka of her beach chair.  After returning home she realized she had left the rings in the chair and when she went out to retrieve them the Wedding Ring was gone.  She looked everywhere she could think of with no luck.  Her only conclusion is it must have fallen out at the beach when she folded the chair.  We decided to meet at the beach to ensure I hunted the exact spot in the dry sand.  We had a little difficulty parking but finally were able to start the hunt.  I started an East-West grid search and after covering the area thoroughly I only found a piece of aluminum.  Nikki was sure we were in the correct spot so on a whim I adjusted to a North-South grid search.  Boom!  A sudden 9/10 on the Nox and after four scoops Nikki’s beautiful Gold & Diamonds ring was in the scoop.  I walked over and pointed in the scoop.  She shouted with joy and it was all she could do to hold back the tears.  We hugged and I noticed her Pittsburgh Steelers keychain.  Turns out although she is from Michigan she is a staunch Steelers fan.  Soo happy we had a successful hunt.  Remember boys & girls the 90 degree adjustment in the grid search made for a successful recovery.  This has happened a few times especially in Waikiki sand.  Aloha to Nikki!

Lost wedding ring Kailua found

This ring find started with a phone call while I was at work. Jenny called me and asked if I was free and available to come over to Kailua  and help her find her lost wedding ring which is in the water around chest to waist deep. I asked Jenny some important questions to narrow down the search site all the while getting the equipment ready and loaded into the truck. I lock up the business and head out to help find this lost precious rings. Having to travel halfway across the island in the middle of the evening and knowing the sun is setting soon brings upon anticipation and a streak of determination. I Arrive at Kailua Beach and gather the CTX 3030 and the xtreme scoop. I meet the family on the beach and gathered more information concerning the place they believe the ring dropped in the water and the time so I could adjust concerning the tides. I Powered up the machine and had enough information to start looking and  let the family know that the rings are exactly where we will find them. I know this hunt has a time urgency and down the beach I go… I can see the sun setting over the mountains as I enter the water. As I enter I get my first target and dig it. It’s a bottle cap. I hold it up to show the family that it’s not what we’re  looking for. It was excitement in their eyes until they realized it was not the rings. I yelled out I’ll continue to move on and with excitement in their eyes and hope on the edge of the seat the family gazed while I grid the ocean floor. I receive a few other tones that makes me dig and i come up with pulltabs and coins. There in the Pacific Ocean in waist deep water I get a beautiful tone knowing this is the ring. I scoop with caution because it is a diamond ring. I look in the bottom of my scoop and there is one of the two lost rings. I search a little farther and lo and behold I hear the sound of the other ring. I dig and look in the bottom of the scoop and there it is the other beautiful diamond ring shining as the sunsets behind the koolau Mountain Range. I walked out of the water looking at my detector and as the family walks to me I placed one of the rings in the bottle cap and tell the family… well seems like I found a bottle cap and hold out the bottle cap with one of the rings sitting inside of it. And I can hear the joy as they all realize the ring is found. And as they look at the ring that was lost and now found I can see the questions in their head of where is the other one and that’s when I was able to pull out the second ring and say we done it! here is your loss rings that is now found. And as I returned the rings and got the most warmest hugs from the family I got to take a step back and see Such a beautiful family with The heart and care for one another. Truly the Hawaiian way of living… close as always.

I’m thankful I was able to help and I’m happy to know the rings are in the rightful owners hands. Another successful recovery and beautiful sunset to go along with it.

LOST WEDDING RING WAIKIKI FOUND!

Mid morning I receive a phone call about a loss wedding band in Waikiki from Anjelica. I let Anjelica know that I will come out and help find the ring when I get a break from work. She expressed her gratitude and I gathered as much information as I could to narrow the search site. I then get a phone call from her husband Patrick who was the one who actually lost his wedding ring. We spoke and I gathered a lot more information and that was enough for me so I  decided to stop what I was doing at work and head out to meet up wit Patrick and Angelica. I gathered all my gear and headed to waikiki beach. I meet the couple on the beach and they both express their gratitude and let me know the area of where they believe the ring was lost. I started my grid outside of their area because there was surf and there was also a lot of current. During the search I dug a bunch of different targets that got everyone’s hopes up… including the local family on the beach who’s younger daughter decided to take it upon her shoulders and put on her goggles and help look for this precious ring. After 30 minutes and countless targets I get a familiar sound and I start to dig it with my XTREME scoop. I put on my mask and snorkel and deep in the back of the scoop there is a gold ring. I remember Anjelica telling me the ring is inscribed inside with her name and his. And low and behold … inside the wedding band is both their names! I picked my head up out of the water and noticed Anjelica is 10 feet away from me. I walk over to her and lean over and whisper “it’s a Cartier? And her eyes lit up like the beautiful sunset and with a loud shout she said “YES!”and gave me the biggest hug. I looked over at Patrick and gave him a thumbs up and the beach clapped and celebrated while we all knew what was loss is now found. Another great ending and beautiful day here in the islands. Lost wedding ring North Shore found

This ring find started out with a phone call in the evening from Simon. He asked if I would be able to go to the North Shore and search for his platinum Cartier wedding ring which he lost while swimming. I gathered all the details concerning the time he lost it so I could verify the tides and also try to get as much information to put me in the right area for a recovery. It was getting late and I had to put the kids to sleep and knew if this was going to be a success I needed to head down early. So, Early the next morning I took a drive out to Sharks cove And gathered all my gear and hike down to the cove. I was greeted at the shoreline by a mother and daughter which they ask am I looking for anything and I replied yes a young men’s wedding ring. They both looked at each other and said are you able to find it? I replied I’m going to give it my best and they both smiled as we departed. The area to search was quite large but I decided to give it my best shot and search the deepest areas first as it was low tide. I found countless amounts of pulltabs and aluminum. After dodging a bunch of snorkelers I get this really good tone. I secure the target and dig with my extreme scoop and low and behold there in my scoop is Simon‘s platinum wedding ring. As I look up above the waterline I notice two swimmers swimming to me and those were the two that I met at the shoreline. As we gathered closer I was able to show them the wedding ring that was once lost is now found. They both underwater seen the ring in my hand as I held it out to them with a thumbs up… and they both screamed and stood up and said you found it! We all were excited and happy to know that there was a happy ending with this incident. The drive home was not least burdensome. I got to call Simon with the Good news and left him a message. Simon called me back and we were able to meet up at their hotel in Waikiki. The reunion of the ring to the owner was nothing short of a miracle and smiles that expressed gratitude. Lost Ring Hawaii … Found!

This recovery happened to have an international case attached to it as I received an email from Masako and she was located in Japan. She sent me a picture of her lost wedding ring which she lost in the water while here in Hawaii doing a tour out at the Kaneohe Sandbar. Because of a language barrier we used the internet to communicate and it was interesting to say the least. After a few emails concerning logistics and several attempts due to coordinating a boat with the company that she had the tour with and my scheduled times off from work and family I was able to get out and look for her lost ring! After many hours and countless scoops later I hear this faint sound. I dug it and BAM there in the scoop is her ring…What a miracle… a platinum ring with 3 diamonds and a small ruby inside the band I know its Masako’s ring. I yelled out… I FOUND it! The captain who escorted me out was as happy as I was because this was one of their customers who lost her ring while on their tours « captain bruce tours cptbruce.com »  and as I held up the ring and gave it to him as he drove the boat over we both said at the same time… AMAZING! it was a nice ride back to the main island and as we were in route I emailed Masako to let her know the ring is found and on the way to be shipped back to her home in Japan. Another Amazing recovery!

Lost Gold Sapphire & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Kailua Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Phil who was visiting from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was enjoying a day at the beach with his lovely wife Heather. Heather took her ring off and placed it in a pocket of her sweater which her Mom Allison was wearing later in the day unbeknownst to her that the ring was in the pocket. Long story short the ring ended up missing and they concluded when Mom handed Heather some keys on the beach the ring must have fallen out. They spent some time searching the beach rental home and the beach area where the keys were exchanged but no sign of the ring was found. Phil googled « lost ring Oahu » and that’s where he found the ring finders. Thankfully the kids are on Spring Break otherwise the trip to Kailua would have been painful in rush hour traffic. This was a record for me it only took about 30 minutes. Phil met me on the road and directed me to a parking spot. I grabbed my gear and we headed down to the beach. Heather & Allison were guarding the area and a few people walking on the beach wished us luck. I marked my grid and went to work. After about 15 minutes 51 cents, four Corona bottle caps, some aluminum foil and a small washer I finally got a loud shallow target. One scoop down and there in my scoop was a beautiful blue sapphire ring with diamonds. I told Heather this must be my ring as she came over to look. Oh my gosh…that’s it she exclaimed. Everyone was so appreciative and they invited me over to the beach house for a refreshment. Good old Southern hospitality just like Hawaii’s Aloha! We discovered that Heather’s Mom Allison and I served in the Navy at the same time. Great friends and a ring find I won’t soon forget. Aloha to Heather, Allison & Phil.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Lanikai Beach Kailua…….FOUND!

I just got home from work on Friday when the phone rang and Hiroko asked if I was immediately available to recover a ring in Kailua at Lanikai Beach as the couple was flying out that evening. I told her I could be there in 30 minutes or so and she explained the situation. Her friend Mariko had guests visiting from Japan and her lady friend Yuko dropped her Gold Wedding Band in the sand. Mariko was going to meet me at the beach access lane and would show me the approximate location the ring was lost. I asked my wife Wendy if she wanted to come along and she did as their is a really nice shopping mall on that side of the island we hadn’t been to in ages. So off we went. Another helpful tool my wife has GPS on her smart phone and helps me get to the out of the way locations. We arrived in record time and Mariko introduced us to Yuko and her husband who had been looking for the ring for several hours already. When we arrived on location the area was half sand and half leafy rooted plant cover. This was going to be a challenge. Yuko boxed off the area and I began my search. I think every pull tab and bottle cap on Lanikai Beach ended up in this ground cover. After about twenty minutes and numerous tabs, caps and 11 cents I got an unusual growl on my Excalibur. It sounded really weird. As I made a scoop I noticed a bottle cap loose in the sand where I just dug in. I bent down and picked it up. As I made another scoop to the other target a glint of Gold could be seen in the scoop. As I reached into the scoop and pulled out the ring I glanced over at Yuko and tears were streaming down her face. Her husband was bowing at my feet saying « Arigato » over and over. Actually, I was overwhelmed and said please stand up and just give me a hug Hawaiian style. Their appreciation was over the top. I won’t soon forget this find. Aloha to Yuko and her husband!
