It’s that time of year again, I have many calls for lost keys in the drive way after shoveling snow or cleaning the vehicle off. Fortunately, this gentleman’s key fobs didn’t take to long to find!

On Friday (November 14, 2025) evening I received a call from Stacey stating a few days prior she had lost her engagement ring while walking down the back porch. It was cold and she was trying to put on her ring while holding her son. The ring caught on her fingernail and flew off. She heard it hit some leaves in the yard. It was at night, so it was dark out and she couldn’t tell exactly where it went. We set up a search for the next morning.
I met Stacey around 9:30 Saturday morning in Athens, Alabama. Stacey showed me exactly how it happened. Her husband, Victor told me the ring is sterling silver. I grabbed my Minelab Equinox 900 and started my search. After a few minutes, a little further from the porch and behind a tarp, I saw Stacey’s ring on the ground! Stacey and Victor were very happy and thankful to have it back. Stacey told me that she had searched that area, but there were a lot of leaves, so I’m sure it was completely covered up when they were looking.
Thankful and blessed for another successful recovery! Until the next one, please take care and God bless…

We got a call yesterday on a lost class ring while flying bread off his back deck. His technique was good but a little to much wrist snap which caused his ring to fly off some distance. Found by my wife Anne and her AT Max. She said it showed jumping numbers from 40 to 80 . I’m thinking the mixed alloys in some class rings will read like that.
Just as my wife and I pulled into our favorite taco place on Friday, my phone buzzed. It was Diago. His voice was somewhat desperate—he’d lost his girlfriend’s engagement ring, and he needed help. He and some friends tried to locate it but it was hopeless.
We’d barely parked, the restaurant still minutes from reopening at 5, but I knew the sun was slipping fast thanks to the time change. So, we left. As we did, I prayed for God’s favor.
I met Diago at a roadside bar & grille. He pointed out exact the spot where the ring had flown from his hand. It vanished into a patch of tangled grass—short blades, long tufts, and a gloomy drainage ditch. His fiancée, he said, had been in tears.
I fired up my Minelab Manticore, and instantly the machine chattered incessantly – bottle caps, pull tabs, scraps of who-knows-what. I adjusted my settings, grabbed my pinpointer, and pushed into the grass as daylight drained away.
As darkness enveloped us, I swept every inch of the suspected area, the detector humming, my hopes slipping with the sun. Eventually, I had to turn to Diago and tell him the last thing he wanted to hear: I’d be back at sunrise.
Praying again, I arrived before dawn the next morning. The grass heavy with dew. I started scanning in a slow grid, determined not to miss a thing. Then—a clean, bright tone!
I dropped to my knees, brushed aside a patch of grass, and there it was: a beautiful gold ring nestled so perfectly in the blades that anyone without a detector would’ve walked past it a hundred times. God is good!
Later that day I placed the ring back into the hands of an overjoyed couple.

Zack could not find his wedding ring and tried looking with a rented metal detector and still come up empty handed. He was 99% sure he lost it in his yard somewhere while doing yard work earlier that day. He had planted some small ornamental bushes and laid down new mulch and even had about 10 medium bags of left over dirt that he wanted to dispose of later but the thought of his ring being out in his yard somewhere made him quite anxious. Later that evening Zack went online and found theringfinders.com and gave me a call. I met him the next day and decided to start my search exactly where he started working the day before. His yard and newly planted bushes were neat and tidy and as I moved on to the 2nd area I noticed he had laid out the bags of extra dirt on the brick driveway so I decided to scan them. Each bag was tied up and on the last bag I got a faint signal. I flipped the bag over and immediately got a solid gold like signal and it was only a matter of sticking my pin pointer into the dirt and the picture shows what was hidden inside. Zack was thrilled and could not believe what just happened.

Rose was sitting in the back seat with her young child sitting in the middle seat, when the child started to get a bit fussy. To help with a little distraction, Rose gave the child one of her rings to hold. Well, that didn’t last long as the ring was dropped and disappeared. Not seeing the exact moment of the drop, a search ensued but, it couldn’t be found. With the prospect of an expensive trip to a repair shop to have the seats removed, Rose tried to tell herself that it didn’t really matter that much. After a couple of months, that ring still was on her mind, so, she searched for an alternative way to maybe recover it. An online search brought her to TRF and my contact info. We discussed the situation over the phone and decided to give my services a try. When I arrived, I got the full story and was shown the vehicle in question. The middle seats didn’t move forward or backward….just the seat back would fold down. With my inspection camera, I could see underneath the seat that there were all sorts of cracks and crevices the ring could have ended up in. After looking around underneath for a while, I tried a different tact. Looking down from the top, I tried to figure out where the ring could possibly have gone down. There weren’t many spaces wide enough for the ring to pass through. One spot by the seat belt where the middle seat met the side seat looked promising, so, down the inspection camera probe went. At the bottom, I got what looked to possibly be the edge of a ring, so, I asked Rose for a more detailed description, and she showed me a photo of the ring she had on her phone. We both looked at the screen on my inspection camera, and while I wiggled the probe around a bit, we got a better look at the object. YES! That’s it! Now the fun part….trying to get it out without having to remove the seat. I had brought with me many tools, and chose to use some « magic fingers » which is a 4 tine fingered grabber mechanics use to retrieve things from tight areas. After a couple of failed tries, I managed to get a good grab on it. Now the tricky part trying to work it up and out without it coming loose from my tool. After a few twists and turns, it was free and back on Rose’s finger. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

This ring find began back on Sunday November 2nd while I was hunting for a sentimental ring in Nai’a Lagoon when a young lady approached me and said her Father, Behzad had lost his White Gold Wedding Band in just over neck deep water near where I was hunting. I told her I could find it but would have to return on scuba at a later date when the water was clear and calm. It was pretty stirred up at that moment. The young lady’s Mother Mitra came down to the beach to help me narrow down the search area for the dive. I was finally able to get in the water on scuba Saturday, November 8th. I started my dive grid with my orange rope early in the morning but so many people were walking around and messing up my grid line snagging on the rope. I decided to retrieve my grid line and start a parallel to shore search using the sand waves as guides. On my first double back I got a booming hit on the Excalibur and after a few hand waves of the sand Behzad’s big White Gold Wedding Band exposed itself. Thank you, Jesus! I texted a picture of the ring back to Mitra in Lafayette, California and she responded, « OMG thank you so much » Behzad received the ring and sent me a picture of his hand wearing the ring with Shaka Emojis. Aloha to Behzad & Mitra!
