Texas A&M Class Ring Lost at Cypress Creek in Austin, Texas by John Volek TRF-Houston

Texas A&M Class Ring Lost at Cypress Creek in Austin, Texas

I was contacted by Daniel a resident of Austin, Texas who was looking for someone to help him find his lost Texas A&M Class Ring… Daniel reported he had been vacationing on Cypress Creek (Lake Travis) in Austin, Texas when he had the mis-fortune of losing his prized possession, his Texas A&M Class Ring. Daniel said, he had been playing with his dogs in Cypress Creek when he felt the ring slip off of his finger and land in three-four foot of water. Daniel reported he spent hours searching the muddy bottom with his bare hands, but he was unsuccessful at finding his ring. Daniel said, a week or so later, an internet search on lost rings..returned a search result for Houston Metal Detecting Services – The Ring Finders Houston, Texas. Daniel said he didn’t hesitate for a minute…calling to make an inquiry about finding his ring. After numerous discussion with Daniel, we felt the recovery would be possible, 3-5 foot of water and a mucky bottom…and a fairly definitive area where the ring was lost. Nearly two-weeks from the day the ring was lost…we were at the location to conduct the search for Daniels ring. The site location had changed drastically…the water level was now down 3-5 feet from when Daniel had been at the location. The search proved to be quite challenging, we were fighting a 105-degree heat index, and the displaced water had created a mud bog along the creek. The going was slow and difficult, numerous targets added to the difficulty of the search. After about and hour, and our third or fourth pass through the mud bog, success! Hit a good target buried in about 4-6” of mud.

Lost Texas A&M Ring Canyon Lake, Texas found by John Volek TRF-Houston

  • from Sugar Land (Texas, United States)

Lost Texas A&M Ring Canyon Lake, Texas
I was contacted by Kelly, a Comal Country Deputy Sheriff who was looking for someone to help find her brothers Texas A&M Class Ring…
Kelly posted a comment amongst some of her friends on Facebook, and a fellow Police Officer responded that they new just the right person.
I spoke to Kelly a short time later and she explained that her brother Brian had lost his new Texas A&M Class Ring in a swim area in Canyon Lake.
Kelly put me in contact with Brian, and he provided additional details on his ring and the location lost. Brain indicated he was having a get together with some of his former military brothers at Canyon Lake.
Brain said it was during this event that he lost his new ring. Brian said while swimming in the lake, he felt his ring slip off and drop down to about the 8-foot mark. Brian said he tried effortlessly to recover his ring that afternoon.
Brian indicated he returned the following day with some dive gear and made another effort at recovering his lost ring, but he had no success.
I am guessing it was during this point, that his sister got wind of the situation and started her own investigation!
Kelly and Brian both provided photographs of the search location…and Brian was very confident he had a very good idea of where the ring had come off his hand.
I contacted my partner Carl to see if he was up for a 6 hour round trip dive adventure to Canyon Lake…
We made final arrangements with Brian to meet him at the location on Sunday morning to search for his lost ring.

Canada Day Man lost wedding band at Wasaga Beach, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received an email through the ring finders late evening on Canada Day that Aneta & Tom had been building sand castles and throwing a little football around the waters of Wasaga Beach. The Wasaga Beaches are 14kms of fresh water beaches 1 through 6.

I met them there after being in the water at Wasaga Beach #1 for approximately 11 hours with the Minelab Excalibur2 and my T-rex sand scoop.

We walked aways to the location of the sand castles area where they were sitting. I widened my grid area and then decided to head into the water. Aneta went back to my truck for my headlamp to make the search easier. My first target about mid calf deep was Tom’s 14k white golf wedding band approximately 30′ from shore!! So as I normally do….I waited till she arrived back, started a video and proceeded back out to retrieve it….that was a quick one. A very happy couple as the wedding band is very sentimental. The couple graciously sent in a donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Found!!

Here’s the late night video…

LOST WEDDING RING – WASHINGTON, LA – FOUND

  • from Lafayette (Louisiana, United States)
Contact:

Tobi called on July 6th, 2 days after losing her platinum and diamond wedding ring. She felt it fly off when throwing a ball to her kids. Luckily, she heard it hit a landscape timber. That really narrowed the search area. Carrie and I jumped in the truck and drove the 40 miles to her house. Within 10 minutes, Sid got a strong 47 reading on his Garrett AT PRO. Right below the surface was the beautiful ring. After reuniting Tobi and her ring, we cooled down while having a nice visit with Tobi and her dad. Loaded up the truck and headed home. Thank you Tobi for your generous reward!

Wedding ring lost prior to wedding ceremony Richmond Hill Country Club, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received a text message from Jing & Mark S for a request to assist to find a custom platinum wedding band that was unfortunately lost prior to the wedding ceremony of his best Friend of 23 years. Mark was the Best Man at a wedding ceremony on the lovely ground of the Richmond Hill Country Club. Mark had written explicit details of the days events leading up to the wedding ceremony. This was key in retracing there steps and actions. Prior to the actual wedding ceremony, the photography asked all the wedding party to remove any items such as phones from the pockets. Mark had removed both the Bride’s and Grooms custom wedding bands crafted in China from the jewellers boxes. Mark felt that a number of times he removed his cell phone from his jacket pocket and at those locations the wedding band could likely be at any one of the spots.

We proceeded down the pathway in which the wedding parties travels in golf cart, up over a bridge and then onto a open grass area where the photo’s had taken place. I used my trusty Minelab Excalibur 2 on land and that amazing tone of platinum on « discrimination » makes my detector SING!! Within 5 on the open grass area that wonderful tone sounded off!! I spotted the very small sized platinum wedding band, threw done my machine (gently of course) and raised my arms. Mark & Jing thought I was upset with them as they were standing on either side of the area as I was using them for my grid markers. Both kept moving about. I then started recording for the ‘surprise’.

Here’s the video for the return

The « Best Man » came through for his Best Friend the Groom and his new Wife!!

Lost Ring Found, Island Lake Recreation Area 7/1/2018

  • from Wixom (Michigan, United States)

Angela texted me that her brother in law Brian had lost his ring  the day before at Island Lake Recreation Area.  They were swimming  in a small pond  that was a good hike from a sanctioned swimming area.  Since it is not listed as a metal detecting area on the park map, we stopped and asked the very kind lady at the admissions booth to contact the ranger for permission.  Permission obtained we drove to the south side of the park and hiked to the swimming hole.  The bottom dropped off sharply, typical of a former a gravel pit, and the danger was multiplied by thick weeds in the deeper areas.   This type of swimming hole can be dangerous; I don’t recommend this pond for swimming.  Everyone took turns with the scoop as we searched the deep water.  Fortunately, I located the ring on the sand bar about 20 to 30 feet out, after about a two hour search.

It was clear Brian had given up the ring as lost forever.  I slipped it to Angela while I hunted up my camera, and after telling Brian we were all going home, we surprised him with his ring.

Happy Ending to a Beautiful Day

Lost ring found in Spring Mill Pond at Island Lake Recreation Center, Brighton, Michigan

  • from Wixom (Michigan, United States)

While showing a friend the spot where I recovered a ring last week, I noticed a group of about 20 young men.  They had been playing a rowdy game that looked like a cross between football and lacrosse in waist to shoulder deep water, up and down the swimming area and now they had suddenly switched to that familiar search mode, with the players all bent over looking for something lost in the water.   I gave them about fifteen minutes and when they were getting out of the water, looking discouraged, I approached the group.

After some banter back and forth I finally isolated the young man who admitted to losing his wedding ring.  I was not able to search that evening so I gave him my card and told him I would return the following morning.   It was cold and breezy the next morning; but I found the ring in knee deep water with a 3 hour search.

Usually I get a contract, or at least a phone number; but I could tell he didn’t believe I could find it, and he didn’t really want to give me any information.  It was a few days before he called, and I was beginning to wonder if he wanted it back at all.

Let’s just say that he was surprised to hear I had his ring.  He sent me a wedding picture to verify he was the owner, and I put his ring in the mail.
