Film Maker’s Wedding Ring Found By Calgary Ringfinder. JC Effect Crosses the Mountains.

  • from Calgary (Alberta, Canada)

Al called me.  He was up at Fortress Mountain filming a commercial. The Vancouver film maker had wrapped up the filming and was packing up. About halfway back to the highway he realized his ring was missing. They went back and with the help of four others, searched for the ring to no avail. That night while talking with his wife, she mentioned that she had seen a piece on TV about a professional ring finder finding the actor Jon Cryer’s lost ring. With that information, he was able to find me on the internet.  We chatted at length and arranged for me to get access to the ski hill (it is closed to the public) the next day. It had to be the next day because the forecast was for snow….lots of it.  While Al was heading for the airport, I was up at the hill searching for his ring. With the great details Al provided, we began our hunt. A few minutes in, I heard the beautiful tone of a surface target. Moments later, the ring was revealed under a light dusting of snow.

Once back in cell coverage I sent a picture of the ring to Al.  His words… »Woohoo. That is amazing. I am so thrilled. » It will soon be in his hands.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Koko Head District Park…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call Sunday evening from Keith who lives in Hawaii Kai on Oahu. While playing baseball at Koko Head District Park Keith determined that during one of the times he removed his baseball glove his gold wedding band must have come off. We agreed to meet the next afternoon at the ball park so Keith could show me the general area he was playing in right field. Keith was waiting when I arrived and we went up to the ball field in the background of the photo. I gridded out the most probable area and started my search. The Equinox was popping on many targets coins, pull tabs and bottle caps. I had my pinpointer so decided since the ring was probably on top of the soil in the grass I would ignore all targets below two inches on the Equinox. After hunting the grid and still no ring I asked Keith which direction was most probable to expand the grid and he said towards the infield. Low and behold the first target in the new grid was a surface screaming 11-12 on the Equinox. I bent down to run the pinpointer through the grass and there was Keith’s gold wedding band. Hidden under the grass I believe someone must have stepped on it during the previous day’s search. I enjoy these challenging hunts with many targets but Keith said he thought we would never find it after about 30 minutes and seeing me check so many targets. Keep the Faith and we shall succeed! Aloha to Keith!

Beautiful Wedding Ring Recovered from the Gulf of Mexico

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

Jen lost her beautiful wedding ring on Friday while taking her children to the beach. Her youngest was in her arms while she walked along the waters edge, he squirmed and stripped the ring from her finger and immediately it disappeared in the fluffy white sand at Orange Beach. There was knee high shore break and she felt her ring was long gone. Jen contacted me and I said I would try to recover her ring. I arrived early the next morning, the sand had eroded and covered the location she lost the ring with about a foot of extra sand in knee deep water. I searched for about an hour, the sand was to deep and I wasn’t getting a signal, both Jen and husband Ted were looking worried. I told them I don’t give up. I ended up systemically removing 6″ or so of sand then using the pinpoint function to hunt at maximum depth. After about another hour and several attempts at digging I heard a very, very faint signal, I was hopeful that was indeed her ring because the way the signal repeated which each pass. I carefully set the scoop for maximum depth but with finesse so as to not damage the ring. It wasn’t in the first scoop so again I set the scoop as deep as I could. Sure enough the ring was in the center of a heaping scoop of sand and shell. I estimate the ring was covered with about 16 inches of sand. As I stepped from the water I held her ring up for her and Ted to see. They were amazed I found it and Jen let everyone within ear shot know how delighted and excited she was. Ted, Jen and thier 3 kids left the beach all smiles and happy. I left satisfied that I made their day and that persistence and a little experimentation lead to a truly difficult recovery.

Lost Engagement Ring at Burnaby Playground…Found!

I’ve been very busy with searches and this took a few days to get to and we were lucky that no one found it before I got there… I received a phone call from a young lady who told me she lost her ring while she was at a playground with her daughter, she wasn’t certain where the ring came off but she did know where she was and where it possibly ended up.

When I met her and her girlfriend she showed me what she was doing and told me that a friend of hers had a picture of her at the playground with her ring on so she knew it had to be in one of the two playgrounds, her gut feeling was the playground with the swings, this was a gravel playground where a ring could easily sit up and be seen by others. We’ve had a very nice few days, sunny but cool and lots of kids playing, when I got there, there were no kids at the swings, I set up my search and after only 10 minutes I got a good signal and found her lovely engagement ring.

I get just as excited as the people I find the ring for I just don’t show it, but inside I feel so excited that I have a chance to show them their cherished item that means the world to them. This young lady was from Peru and her husband has been away for three years and because of Covid they haven’t seen each other, he will be back in BC one month from now, she may never tell him what happened but if she does it’s just another wonderful memory and hopefully, she gets her ring resized soon.

Lost Ring in Agassiz, BC…Found

This is a result of the JC Effect and Global News…

Another recovery thanks to Global News results in a ring being found over a year later at an Airbnb in Agassiz, BC. I got an email a few weeks back in regards to a ring that was lost at an Airbnb possibly under the patio in the backyard. When I talked to the Alison I found out that the ring had fallen off her husband’s finger while they were sitting outside enjoying the evening, they heard it hit the patio and that was the end of it, the wood slats of the patio had enough of a gap for a ring to fall through. The owner of the property had removed four planks and looked under the patio but did not see the ring.

When I arrived in Agassiz, I met Alison and her girlfriend Kelly and she took me around back to show me the patio, it was an older patio not very big and I was very hopeful we would find the ring, I also knew that it could’ve bounced off the patio into the grass so my first place to check was the grass around the patio, that would make it a much easier search if I had found it in the grass, unfortunately, no such luck.

With the help of Alison, we began to pull the wood planks away from the patio, we pulled off six at a time and I searched in the area, after I search the area we put the planks back and remove another six, we did this three times with no luck. The last chance I had was removing three planks attached to the stairs closest to the house, I knew this would be a hard one to do but I would’ve been stupid not to do it.

After close to three hours of searching, taking off planks, and putting them back, in the last place I checked along the side of the house under a board I found this young lady’s husband’s ring that had been missing for over a year. I love my job, her reaction was absolutely priceless when I showed her the ring!

This is a result of the JC Effect and Global News…

Soon after Global News did a story in regards to a ring I found for actor Jon Cryer from Two and a Half Men, the phone started ringing. One call I got was from Fernando, he told me that his wife Serafina had lost her wedding band three years ago and was hoping maybe I could help them find it. We set up a day and time where to meet to start the search for this lost ring. When we met I had my series of questions I had to ask in order to figure out more about the search area and what the potential would be for recovery.

I learned that Fernando and his wife were married for 51 years Serafina had the ring on her finger for 48 years before she lost her symbol of love due to an accident that found her being taken away in an ambulance, they were walking through a trail and Fernando slipped down the slope and Serafina went to to help her husband and she too slipped down the hill cracking her pelvis bone and hurting her tailbone.

I had a really good feeling that this ring was still there as I knew not many people would be metal detecting in this area, after 30 minutes Fernando and Serafina went home to leave me to my work, not long after I found her beautiful gold wedding band that was hiding for three years just 1 inch in the dirt. I was able to contact Fernando and we set it up so we could surprise Serafina with the return of her ring. Something that was very interesting was that Serafina said that she had dreamt the night before her son had contacted her telling her about my service that she was going to find the ring.

The hardest part of what we do is not finding what I’m looking for but the best part is seeing the smiles we can find for people, this was a beautiful story with a beautiful ending for a beautiful couple!

Making Applesauce in Sand Lake, Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

I got a call today from Jeff S. who lost his wedding ring yesterday between an apple tree, 2 mile walk on a trail and somewhere near his house in the woods. I told him I would be out searching in a couple hours.

We met at the place where he was gathering apples that fell to the ground under an apple tree along the road by his house. I did a grid search in an area 20 feet by 10 feet and then directly under the tree in some long grass. I didn’t find the ring there so anticipating the 2 mile walk along a leafy trail we went to his house first. I searched his apple barrel while he went through his pants he wore yesterday, no ring yet. We walked a path into the woods by his house, detecting along the way, where he concocted an applesauce for his animals, made up of sugar beets, apples and molasses. I searched the area with my Fisher F75 detector and swung it like a wand over the pile of apples and got a hit. After moving the mess around there was the gold ring that was his dads old wedding ring, dripping in molasses. I took a picture of the ring and a big Smile of Jeff holding it for my Book of Smiles. I hope his animals enjoy the applesauce as much as Jeff enjoyed the ring back on his finger.

How to find a Lost Ring in the Snow in Calgary

  • from Calgary (Alberta, Canada)

Received a call from Perry, a metal detecting friend of mine. He was contacted by a gentleman asking to rent his detector. Instead of renting it, he called me up and invited my to join him on a hunt. Together we arrived at the location. A quick description let us know that the ring came off, bounced off his truck’s running board (he heard it) and disappeared! With that information we had the location narrowed down to a very small area. Perry fired up his machine and in a matter of moments heard the sound he was looking for. A quick bit of pinpointing and the ring was soon in the hands of one very happy owner.  I just realized that being a part of the find is just as good as being the finder. The smile on his face makes it all worth while.

Lost Diamond Ring Fort Langley… Found!

This is a result of the JC Effect and Global News…

Thursday around 3 pm I received a call from a slightly frantic young lady who told me that she had lost her diamond wedding ring in Fort Langley at a park. After talking to her and her husband in regards to the location the ring was lost I decided to go early in the morning knowing that in a couple of hours it would already be dark and no one would be able to find it. Also knowing not many people are at Park at this time of year when it’s so cold out, We set a time for 8 AM the next morning to search for her diamond ring.

I was already heading out in that direction to do a search for a lost wedding band in Agassiz so I stopped in Fort Langley first and got there at 7 AM, as I drove up another car was pulling in and the young man said hello Chris he saw my videos and knew it was me. They got there early as well probably just to do a walkabout and search before I got there. After talking for a little bit and understanding where she had been that day and what she was doing I started my grid search in the area they believe the ring was lost.

After about 40 minutes I started grid searching outside of the area where she did not expect the ring to be found, most times that’s the case, it’s where people don’t think it could be, and I’m happy to say that’s what happened here.

You have to think outside of the box and go with your gut instinct and grid search until you find what you’re looking for because if you don’t, you could be walking away from a smile. The story that surrounded this ring was beautiful and it was an honor to be able to help continue that story.

I have the best job in the world and I love doing this more than anything I’ve done in my lifetime. I get to make people smile, I get to hear their stories of what the ring means to them and how happy they are when I’m lucky enough to find it.

Diamond Engagement Ring Found Deep In Leaves in Nazareth, PA

  • from Reading (Pennsylvania, United States)

Lost a ring, call 610-207-8677.  I received a call from Darin saying his wife possibly lost her wedding bands while playing in the leaves with their kids. She noticed the rings were not on her finger when getting ready for bed that night. They searched the entire house and the clothes she was wearing and could not find them. They thought the rings must have come off while she was playing in the leaves on a nice autumn day. Darin found me on TheRingFinders and I arrived a few days later when our schedules aligned.

I met Darin at their home on a Saturday morning and began the search. I searched for over two hours in a large area of deep leaves that Darin had raked up and thick brush along a creek. I was getting a lot of shallow hits as there was lots of foil and tin in the area. I finally got a strong hit reading 50 on my Garrett ATPro and found the engagement band. Darin called Kate from the house and she came running with excitement to retrieve the ring.  I continued to search for about another hour looking for the wedding band but with no luck. Darin and Kate were more then happy with me finding the diamond engagement ring, but knowing the engagement ring was in the leaves, I may return another day to search for the wedding band. I love adding to my book of smiles and reuniting lost items to their owners.
