A Joyful New Years Day……

…..was had for the pictured couple who’s ring I found for them in the snow today. He presented the new ring to her for Christmas to celebrate their first year of marriage. She was taking the holiday trash out last night and the ring came off. Being nighttime, they weren’t sure where it was even tho the area where she was wasn’t very large. They had checked the can and bags prior to my arrival to no avail. They tore up the house searching everywhere. He went today and bought a toy type detector which only caused more frustration. When I got on site I noticed he raked and salted the area where they thought it was. The area was composed of gravel for the driveway, spruce needles, cones and the aforementioned salt, snow, ice. The scent of the spruce trees and the cones on the snow was peaceful to me, reminding me of being out in the woods hunting for relics. Firing up the MXT I gridded the area and got mixed metal signals, nothing close to where this ring material type usually shows up. There was also a car that could not be moved and a aluminum sided post for the porch overhang.
Reducing the sensitivity as much as possible to get close to the large metal objects helped but I still got an overload signal. Scanning slowly towards the post and moving around it I got a suspect +12 /+18 mixed with an overload signal right near the base of about a 5″ snow pile. Probing with the garrett carrot I got that good vibration that we all know what it means. Brushing the snow around revealed this gorgeous white gold ring with diamonds! They couldn’t believe that it had been in a total different area from where they thought. It made their New years day even better as they thought it could not be found…. and something wonderful to look back on as they grow older together.

It’s Gonna Be A Happy New Year…..

……For the pictured couple who’s ring I found today in the snow. They got engaged on Christmas and were unloading gifts yesterday when the ring came off. I searched the area between the house and car where she thought it slipped off but noting came thru on the MXT meter where a typical ring like this will come up. The next place to look was where the cars were parked, so he moved them and I searched the area and the MXT was sounding off on lots of junk signals and I learned there used to be a garage where the conc. pkng lot is now. Carefully gridding from different directions and a +8 came up with a good hard signal, brushing away the snow revealed this gorgeous specimen that had been been driven over and had we not moved the car would not have found it! I mentioned to them to take the ring where they got it and check that the diamonds had not loosened up due to the impact of driving on it. They were so thrilled and it made the new year even better and something to look back on when they wed in September 2018!

LOST RING OVER THE HOLIDAYS RECOVERED

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

Karen and her family were travelling from Vancouver to Vernon in the Okanagan for Christmas with friends, they stopped at the Merritt Tourist Booth on the way. Playing in the snow with the kids Karen lost her custom woven ring. Once in Vernon she found my site on The Ringfinders and we arranged to meet at the loss site on her way home. The Tourist Booth was 110 Kilometeres from my home over a mountain pass,( The Highway from Hell) fortunately the snow was not too bad, my plan was to grid the area of the snowball throw, then the parking lot. During my grid search, Karen was kicking the snow from the throw area and out popped the ring, a successful team effort. Karen was delighted to have the sentimental ring back on her finger.

Troll Angry! Lost Gold Wedding Ring Found in Fremont… Seattle, Washington on Christmas!

  • from Seattle (Washington, United States)

This Christmas, under a bridge,  I battled a giant troll for a gold ring! When he was distracted by tourists taking selfies, I snatched a lost heirloom from under his gaze and returned it to its rightful owner!

A woman lost her mother’s wedding ring, inscribed with her father’s name, while throwing snowballs at the troll on Xmas eve. She was just visiting this state for the holiday, so it was crucial she find it before her flight out of Seattle. After renting a metal detector, searching and not having any luck, her friend found my name on Google. She called me Christmas morning and I was on the case in a couple hours.

Luckily after around half an hour of searching, I hit the target! Buried in the snow was her ring! I was super happy to help and I got out of there quick before the troll knew what had happened…

Gold ring snatched from the Troll!

Happy reunion!

Josh was out in his yard throwing snowballs with his son, when he noticed his custom made wedding ring was missing. He could have waited until the snow melted, but his home is on the Real Estate market, so he went and rented a metal detector hoping to find it, with no success he looked on line and found my site on The Ringfinders. I told him I would be there the next morning, it was -12 and cold on the hands, but within 10 minutes he had the ring back on his finger. Another Merry Christmas.

She Didn’t Want To Leave Home Without It…..

….But unfortunately that’s what happened to this pictured man’s wife yesterday as she was playing fetch outside with their Alaskan huskies her ring came off in about a 500 sq. ft. area of their front yard. She had to leave today on business and even tho they looked around with a toy type detector nothing was found. When I talked with him this morning she had already got to her destination and was due home tomorrow and he was hoping I could find it so he could surprise her. When I got on site there was about 6 inches of snow and after being greeted by Him and completely inspected by the huskies I was granted approval to search their habitat! (lol)
He mentioned a few more details as to where she thought she was in the yard and I followed the snowprints with my MXT, imagining the coil was a magnifying glass and I was an electronic investigator as I was glad I had these clues in this large area. After gridding an area that looked like multiple movements and shuffles occurred in the snow, my MXT rang out with a +10 +12 and 0 depth as I pinpointed.
Brushing the snow aside revealed this beautiful white gold ring with diamonds!

Just look at the detail on this custom design! I waved my arms up and he came running out and was super thrilled! He has not told her it has been found, and he plans on presenting it to her at the airport tomorrow making the « I’ll be home for Christmas » so much more memorable for them! It Wasn’t Snow Much Fun!….

….for this newly engaged (and embarrassed) young lady when her engagement ring came off during a snowball fight with her wedding party outside a restaurant in the heavy snow that fell in the Detroit area yesterday. When I spoke with her she hadn’t slept all night and wasn’t for sure where they were but she thought it came off between the 2 buildings. She txted me a pic of the ring so I had an idea of what the MXT would say when I sweep over it based on prior rings similar to hers. As always when I’m looking for items in the snow at commercial properties, I print an aerial pic of the area without snow to look for drains/catch basins just so I know their proximity when I’m searching as I would not want to accidentally push the lost item anywhere near them. I told her it was important to start searching quickly due to the restaurant owners wanting to move snow around, so she didn’t care if I got started w/o her. When I got on site there was about 5-6 inches of snow and drifts. I got the MXT set up and gridded the area, the overloaded signals were those metal drain lids which I knew from the aerial. As I lifted the coil higher off the lid to check for a smaller signal nothing appeared which prior to this on other hunts the MXT would have showed me if the ring was there. A few more minutes of the coil cutting thru the snow and just a few feet away from an open cover drain lid this beautiful white gold ring was peeking back at me from the cold abyss below! The nice young lady was immediately enroute with her friend to meet me and place her new ring back where it belonged! She was so happy and this made her holidays extra special being able to show the ring off to the family’s soon!

Dog walk can be costly!! Roscoe Village area in Chicago.

  • from Las Vegas (Nevada, United States)
Contact:

Received a call from a gentleman who lost his platinum wedding band while walking his dog  at night in the Roscoe Village area of Chicago.

It was dark and he slipped on some ice and may have broken his foot. He limped home and discovered that he no longer had his ring. He went back to the area that night and searched where he might have lost it. Nothing! He was uncertain whether if came off in the fall, or if he lost it coming home after the injury. He sent me an email with a google map image of where he though he fell. Since he was currently at the office with his foot elevated, he was unable to accompany me. After reviewing the image, I began the search using my CTX.  Ten minutes later… BINGO! It was exactly where he thought he fell. Rang up as 12/10 and 11/13.

Honoring Thy Father and Mother…..

…Should not mean losing your jewelry but that was not the case for this nice gentleman who was helping his elderly folks on Thanksgiving day tidying up the yard a bit before dinner. We made plans to meet this morning and on the phone he explained they didn’t know for sure where in the yard it may be and they had bagged 3 bags of leaves. I arrived on site and scanned all 3 bags getting no signal. Then I just started gridding the yard and bam! a clear +42 came thru on my MXT meter with 0 depth and I knew I had it! Probing through the grass revealed this golden beauty shining up at us from the sun’s reflection!
He was elated as he came a long distance to meet me and it made his and the family’s Thanksgiving more memorable!
