Metal Detecting Granville Island For A Lost Diamond Ring

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I was at home tonight watching the hockey game and the third period was about to start when I received a call from a young lady who asked if I could help her find a lost ring.

I listened to her story and I was on my way to find her diamond ring. When I arrived her and her husband and her girlfriend were outside searching the area they believed the ring could be lost in.

I asked my questions that I normally ask and it was her girlfriend that had kept her ring and watch in her pocket while they were working out. When they were walking home her girlfriend pulled out the watch & ring to give back, but all she could find was the watch.

Right away they started to search the ground for the ring, it was dark and there was lots of leafs and long grass so it made it extremely difficult to find. Her only chance was to rent a metal detector and that’s when she found me on line.

I searched the area that they thought the ring was in and no luck, I could tell her girlfriend was very upset as she felt responsible…I felt bad for her but I also knew if the ring was there I could find it, close to an hour searching now and it was getting late, her girlfriend went home and the young couple went to their car to warm up.

I decided to search in a different area further down the walk way and I got a good signal and there it was! I was so excited to tell them the good news! I wish I could of got her first reaction, but my camera was off…

I’m so glad I extended my grid search!

Metal Detecting for the Golden Goose/Ladner BC/Nov.1st

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Nov. Ring Search 1

The hunt is on for a lost gold wedding band in Ladner BC when a man hunting snow geese lost his ring. He was with his father and his hands were cold and he shook them and off went his ring.

He went online to rent a metal detector and came across my website, he called and told me that he lost his ring and that he could put me in an area the size of a room. At first he thought of renting a meta detector then he thought it would be better to hire an expert. Great I thought! Another ring search, I meet with the man and his wife and I walk out to the area he lost his ring.

It took close to 15 minutes in a marshy swamp and duck hunters all around for us to get to the spot! You can hear the duck calls and then hear the shoots…I’m thinking this is a first! I asked if this was safe and he replied no problem as the shots were aimed up at the geese…

I started my search in the area were he knew the ring would be in, after close to an hour there was no ring. I took my wedding band off and asked him to re-enact what happened. He was worried that I wouldn’t find my ring… That wouldn’t make me very good at what I do…Both time the ring flew in the same direction, I searched and expanded my search but no ring.

There were big pot holes and that was a concern as I’d have to dig out the holes and search the mud. Instead I expanded my search in the opposite direction and within minutes I received a good signal. I moved the grass and there it was! I presented him with the ring and he & his wife were so happy to get the ring back!

Metal Detecting Surrey BC/Garden Gold/Gold Wedding Band Found…

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Today I had a search for a man’s diamond wedding band that was lost in the garden some where on his property.

I received a call early last week from a lady who told me the story about how her husband had lost his ring while he was outside gardening.

I met up with the couple this morning and Umberto showed me the area where he thought the ring could be lost in and I started my search.

Around the side of the house he had a little garlic garden and he showed me the area he sifted the dirt to search for his ring. I searched that area and received a good signal and found Umberto’s diamond ring within 5 minutes.

I could see the ring as I moved the dirt and I turned on my flip video and started to record… He didn’t what me to tell his wife, he wanted to act as if we didn’t find it.

We went into his house and pretended that we couldn’t find the ring, she was sad and wanted me to check some other areas, Umberto then held up his hand and showed her the ring…She was so excited! She told me that she couldn’t afford another ring for her husband and that ring was very special as it was his wedding band, and you can’t replace that with a new one.

We had an espresso and talked for a while, such a lovely couple!

Metal Detecting…Lost truck key in Surrey BC could cost $1200+

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Today just before dark I received a call from a young lady who wanted to rent a metal detector to find her lost keys to her truck.
She goes on to tell me that her husbands friend who had a few drinks hid them under a rock… She tells me that to get another key cut could cost her $1260 as it had a computer chip in it and she only had one key.

She said that it had an alarm button with the key and she was afraid to leave the truck overnight two days in a row.

After talking for a while I offered my service to come out and look for her keys as every place in town that rented metal detectors were closed for this Thanks Giving Monday. I also knew that it was going to rain the next day and that could hurt the alarm pad.

We met up just as its getting dark she shows me the area that the key could be in, and I start to search. The hard part was that the person who hid the key wasn’t there to show us the exact area, I started my grid and after 20 minutes under the dirt I found the key.

This is my second key find this year and both would cost a small fortune to have them replace.

Metal Detecting…Lost 19k White Gold Wedding Band/Downtown Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I was at work when I received a call from a lady that I did a search for a few months back, she lost her diamond earring. I didn’t find her earring but I did my best to help her and she said that she’d pass out my name for anyone she knew that could use my service…

Today was the day as she heard about a friend at work who lost his wedding bandwhile playing volleyball at a nearby park. She said that he lost his wedding band while playing volleyball and it was lost in deep grass and he knew the area it was lost in, she passed my name and number to him.

Shortly after I received a call from theyoung man and we setup a time that evening to search for his ring. When I got off work I headed out to Vancouver, I met Chad and we went to the park were he lost his ring.

I asked him where he thought he lost the ring and to my surprise he wasn’t sure…This changes everything as now we might be searching for hours for something that isn’t even there. He wasn’t even sure if it came off playing volleyball, but that would be the most likely place to search.

I could tell at night the area that they were playing volleyball because the ground was packed with foot prints. I started my grid search and within 5 minutes I got a good signal and flashed my light to the ground and in the long blades of grass I could see the outline of the white gold ring.

I called him over and showed him his ring…

Wreck Beach UBC… Nude Beach Gold

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Wreck Beach Gold

Wreck Beach Gold Ring

I received a call from a young lady who told me that she lost her husbands 22k gold wedding band just before night fall yesterday. She told me they were at Wreck Beach(Nude Beach)and she was holding it for her husband so he wouldn’t lose it while he went swimming.

While she was soaking up the sun she felt something bite her on the back so she swung her arms back and that’s when the ring came off. She didn’t see the ring come off but she knew that’s when it happened.

I met up with the young couple who are going to university, UBC. We met at the top and walked down 490+ steps to the bottom to get to the beach. I thought it was going to be a quick search as they were sure they could put me in the exact area the ring came off, I started my search and after one hour I could tell they were very concerned that I wouldn’t find the ring.

I kept expanding the grid knowing that the ring could have launched off her finger and traveled far from the spot. I had the young lady re-enact what happen with my ring. The first time my ring went flying back about 6 yards, the second time it went back only a few feet.

I knew that the ring would be behind where they were sitting so I grid searched hard in that area. Closing in on 1 1/2 of searching I knew I had to think deep and go for the faint signals. Her husband told me that he raked the area with this big beach rake, but couldn’t find it, he spent 2 hours searching.

Because it was taking me so long I figured it must have got buried deep when he was raking the area…Most of the time I’m waiting for the loud and proud signal because it was a resent loss but this made me go after the deep ones and my second faint signal was his beautiful 22k gold wedding band! 8+ inches down.

He was little shocked at first as I guess they were thinking the worst because it was taking me so long. I love the challenge and some times it takes a while but its worth the smile!

The Flying Ring… Part 1/North Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I had a call for a lost ring the other day and when I talked to the young man he told me that he gave his ring to his step son and he lost it in this field.
We met at the field and he showed me the area that he figured it might be lost in, I told him it might take a while so if he wanted to go home I’d call him when I found the ring. I started my search and after an 1 1/2 I had no ring. I felt I did a good grid search and I called to ask if he could come down with his son so he could show me the area he was playing in.

About ten minutes later his wife shows up with their son and I was thinking great now I can get a better idea of the area. His wife told me straight out that it had nothing to do with her son, she told me her husband threw it away…

No judgment as this happens a lot and he isn’t the first and won’t be the last to get mad and throw a ring! This however changed everything as the ring could have gone a long way…

I spent another hour or more and didn’t find the ring but I will be back to finish up the search. The chances of finding the ring will be better if I can get the young man to come to the field and throw a test ring so I can gage the distance it traveled.

I’ll keep you posted with part 2 of the flying ring soon!

Thanks for reading my stories.

Metal Detecting for Saint Christopher/English Bay Beach/Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I was at work last week and I got a call from a lady that told me her son lost his silver chain with a cross and Saint Christopher medallion on it.

She tells me that her son lost it at English Bay Beach in Vancouver by a log, he took it off and put it on his blanket and when he was ready to head home he shook the sand off his blanket and off went the chain.

The young man was more then half way home on the bus when he realized what he had done! He was devastated and when he got home he told his mother what happened. She went on line where she found my service and called me, we talked and she told me the story.

The thing was she called me on Thursday and her son lost it on a Monday, I was sure that someone had found it as most treasure hunter search the logs first. I told her to register the loss on my website and I’d call a few treasure hunters to see if anyone found it.

By Sunday and a few searches later I’d picked up the Newspaper and checked the lost column to see the add about a lost silver chain at English Bay Beach. I called and asked the lady why she didn’t register the loss on my website and she said her son forgot to do that. I told her that I’d go out to the beach and take a look but I told her our chances didn’t look good.

I talked to her son that afternoon and he told me where and how to get to the log he was sitting at, I found the area and from what he told me I figured that I was at the right log.

I turned on my detector and the very first signal was his silver chain and cross & Saint Christopher! I was amazed!! The luck was with us that day and I learned later that the Saint Christopher medallion was given to him by his late Grandmother, it meant the world to him…
