Received a call from a young man who was helping an elderly women. The gentleman was sitting on a bench at Loyola Beach with his girlfriend when he observed an elderly women frantically searching on her hands and knees for her sentimental engagement ring in the sand. It was yellow gold with two Diamonds and a Ruby. He helped her by marking the spot with some small stones and a buried t shirt. He went online with his phone and found the Ringfinders website and my name. The woman does not own a cell phone. He called me and explained the situation. This call was received in the late afternoon today. I knew that if I didn’t come out right away, the stones and marker would probably be gone in the morning because of the raking machines they use every morning on the beaches. He gave me the woman’s landline number and we met at the beach. The marker was still intact. In less than 30 seconds, with just 1 swipe of the coil, I found the ring less than a foot from the marker. It came up as 12/05 on my CTX 3030. The woman was in shock that I was able to find it. She had already given up any hope of finding it. People nearby saw that I had found it and came running over in disbelief. Another GREAT DAY to be a RINGFINDER!! I couldn’t have been happier for her so I had my picture taken with her.

Lost engagement ring throwing frisbee in Lincoln Park, Chicago.

The Joys of summer!! Received a call to look in Lincoln Park in Chicago for an engagement ring. The Diamond has been passed down for several generations. They didn’t want to tell the parents they had lost the ring. This newly engaged couple even bought a metal detector from Menards. It drove them nuts!! She lost it throwing a frisbee on a wonderful cool summer day. Her friends along with dogs searched frantically to no avail. The search area was fairly extensive. They had already searched for hours. In speaking with the client, I explained I would search for 3 hours for the showup fee. He suggested that it might take longer. I got the impression that they wanted me to hunt until it was found!!

I arrived with two detectors, my CTX 3030 and my XP Deus. I set up a very specific program for white gold on the CTX. I discriminated out all silver and high targets and made a very narrow pattern. I adjusted the gain so he could tell if it was a surface find. I trained the client on how to swing the coil, showed him exactly where the ring should come up on the screen, told him to look for shallow signals, and gave him a pinpointed.

In the meantime, I lay out gridlines as I was trained to do by archeologist. If I was going to be there until I was successful, I needed to make sure I hunted the area only once. So off I went. Meantime I suggested to the client that they hunt away from my grid patterns.

Guess who found the ring!!

I heard a sound of excitement turned around and they were holding the ring in disbelief. She was almost hyperventilating!!

I started to search with  CTX 3030. Found a lot of metal interference. Took rake and searched my signals along with my pinpointer. Nothing! There was a large pile of snow near some steps with a metal railing. Decided to use the pinpointer and buried it into the pile. BINGO!!

While in transit to a ring hunt in Elgin, Illinois, I received a call from a woman asking me to come to Dekalb, Illinois after my search in Elgin, Illinois. Apparently her husband lost it while using the snowblower around Christmas. The snow had started to melt and they were still unable to locate the White Gold wedding band. I arrived at her home and went inside to have her fill out my search contract. She put on her coat so she could shoe me the area it was lost in. I stepped outside and looked down and picked up the ring. It was in plain view since the snow had just melted. No detector required. Probably my fastest hunt EVER!!

Received a call from a gentleman who lost his platinum wedding band while walking his dog  at night in the Roscoe Village area of Chicago.

It was dark and he slipped on some ice and may have broken his foot. He limped home and discovered that he no longer had his ring. He went back to the area that night and searched where he might have lost it. Nothing! He was uncertain whether if came off in the fall, or if he lost it coming home after the injury. He sent me an email with a google map image of where he though he fell. Since he was currently at the office with his foot elevated, he was unable to accompany me. After reviewing the image, I began the search using my CTX.  Ten minutes later… BINGO! It was exactly where he thought he fell. Rang up as 12/10 and 11/13.
