Lost watch in a private pond near Fairdealing and Poplar Bluff Mo

  • from Cape Girardeau (Missouri, United States)

My metal detecting friends Dale and Brian asked if I would help find a submerged watch for Preston. The watch was given to Preston 25 yrs. ago by his mother. It had fallen into his private pond about 2 yrs. ago.
On arrival Dale helped me set up the diving equipment and acted as my safety watch. Brian provided moral support while sitting in the shade and drinking a sports drink. The watch was found under the dock in about 10 minutes.
The dive was somewhat pleasant due to the 97 degree day, except for the pesky little bluegill that kept biting me.

Lost Ring Cardiff, Calif.

  • from Carlsbad (California, United States)

I was just geeting ready for a water hunt when I saw a Ring post with a phone number. Ah what the hell, I’ll call him. Rob answered and seemed to know about our group TheRingFinders.com   I asked if he could meet me asap and we both headed to the area.  10 min later I walk down to the area to meet him and I see another detector guy 100 yds down the beach but headed the other way so I went and introduced myself. Wow we kinda know of each other, its a small world. Asked if he found anything back in the area he just went thru. Said no so I let him know if he did, reward is his. He smiled and replied I wish.

My phone rings and its Rob, I can see him coning down the beach on his phone. I say Goodby to this man and head over.  Rob shows the area so we make lines (big square) and I start to gid. Almost covered the area when Rob says, We might have been alittle more over there. An extra 10×20, so I do one pass thru turn and BEEP BEEP, I knew I had it. When u scoop a Plat ring you know it.  I turned my back and said whats it look like. 100% his.

I think he was a little bit in shock thinking no way in hell will he every see it again. He had brought his young son with him and they’ll have this story between them for life. I am STOKED to be a part of this….

UnderWater Hunt , Orange County, Calif

  • from Carlsbad (California, United States)

We were on our way to a water hunt in Orange County. We end up at Harbor Police office. Tryin to get an OK to dive this area. As you know, things  are never what they seem. We are told of an Officer’s knife dropped close by.

We head to our dive area and do 2 dives in the area, with lots of trash.

Try swingin slow as to not churn up the muck. Ha .. Still an intresting dive. Uncovered all metal in this dive area.

Our time here is over, to be continued…

# 2.  On the way back we stop by the area of the Officer knife. I’m wet and cold but couldnt pass this up. They do have Dive Teams but this was dropped yesterday. Put this mask on and jump in. Look down at area aprox 10′ -12′ deep with ok vis. Dive down grab in first spot , nothing. Look to my side, grab a handfull of muck, ah its gota a knife in it. Goin up, slap the knife on the deck. Stoked as Curtis Cox pulls me on to the dock. One outa two for today. Three members of TheRingFinders on this event ;

Metal Detecting Equipment and Training

I just added the Garrett AT Gold to the equipment list. I was looking for a machine that would perform really well on small gold items like diamond earrings and very small diamond pendants. The Minelab CTX 3030 manages well, but the prospecting (AT GOLD) hits these small items really well.

I purchased two small gold items from a local jewelry store for field testing and training purposes. The AT GOLD works amazingly well and should increase my recovery rate for these types of items.

The AT Gold picked out this small earring on its first test run along with some of the smallest specs of aluminum and other debris I have ever recovered.

My first impressions, the machine is awesome,  and it has already proven itself capable of finding micro specs of Au, Ag, and Pt.

Au: Gold

Ag: Silver

Pt: Platinum
