I received a call from Phoebe who had been at the beach a couple of days earlier, and saw a couple searching the sand for something. As a concerned citizen, she wanted to help, and joined with some others in searching for a lost wedding ring. Unfortunately they were unable to find it, so undeterred Phoebe started talking to friends, and neighbors as to how to help the couple find the ring when The Ring Finders was recommended. Phoebe found me on the site and asked if I could help, as the couple was leaving to go home to Nevada that day. I let her know that it would be best to wait until later in the evening so that the crowds would be gone, and allow me free access to area of the loss, which she understood.

When I got there it was dark, and most people had gone home. The area that Phoebe had marked for me was free, so I got over, and began my search. I searched one way out 30 feet with no signal. I then began my search in the other direction, when after 3 passes, I got a strong signal, dug, and in my scoop was a real nice heavy ring. I took a picture and sent it in a text to her, in which she was surprised as I was, that it was still there. She then gave me an address of a friend close by so that I could drop it off, and she was going to mail it back to the couple the next day. I received a thank you from Jose’ when he got his ring back in Nevada.  A great day!

Kirby sent me a text regarding the loss of her gold heirloom signet ring she believed she lost in her backyard. The ring had belonged to her Grandfather, so it had significant sentimental value for her. We arranged a time when we would both be available for me to come and do the search, and on that day I was on my way.

When I arrived Kirby met me, showed me the backyard, and where she thought she had lost her ring. When I saw her grass I could see how a ring could get lost in it. It was incredibly plush. Each blade of the grass had to be 5 inches in length straight up from the ground like a mini jungle over the whole back yard. I went over the area she pointed out to me only finding a dime that had been there for a while. I then expanded my search out until I completely searched the whole yard, only finding a nickel, and an old cookie cutter. Not willing to be beaten I did a cross grid of the yard, but did not find the ring. We talked a bit more about the day, and what might have happened, and the only thing left was her trash, which she had already gone through, but wisely did not throw out. I went through each item in the bags with my pin pointer until I came upon a crumpled napkin that was surprisingly sounding off. I picked it up, and shook it a bit, and the ring came tumbling out. Even though Kirby had thoroughly searched the trash the ring had evaded her pursuit. She could not believe it when I held up the ring for her, and showed her where it had been. What a wonderful search!

II got a contact from Betty about her husband’s lost wedding. They had been at the beach that day, and it was dropped somewhere in the sand where they had been sitting, but they had been unable to find it. They wanted to arrange a time the next morning to do a search, but I convinced them, even though it might be a little late and dark to do the search to eliminate the possibility of another metal detectorist of finding the ring early in the morning. So I was on my way.

When I arrived, I met Betty and her husband Jack. We walked out to the area of the loss. It took a few minutes to find the exact area in the darkness even though they had marked it, but we were successful. I began my search, working in a tight grid, and after a few quiet passes, I got the signal I was wanting. I scooped the sand, and had Jack’s ring. I showed them, and they were very excited. It was then that they told me they had been married only 4 1/2 months, so I was happy to return that very precious memory, and token of love to them in such a short time. Ashley called me asking for help in finding her husband’s wedding ring which he had lost the day prior at a local park while playing with his young children in the sand box. They had searched for hours trying to find it with no luck. I let her know I could be there within the hour, she agreed, and I was on my way.

When I got to the park, I found Ashley. She had her mother and children with her. She showed me the sandbox, which really was not very big, so I began my search. In about 20 seconds I had a good solid signal, I dug, and there in my scoop was her husband’s ring. Ashley had just gone over to talk with her mother probably thinking she might be there for a while when I held the ring up for her to see. I received a call from Adam who had lost his ring in the sand at the beach. This ring was custom made for him to receive when he got married. The jade was a special stone picked out by his future mother in law for that occasion, so the ring had a very special significance for him. I let him know that I could be there soon so as to get to the area before anyone else could, and to insure a thorough search of the area.

When I arrived Adam met me , and showed me the area. One of his friends was busy with a kitchen colander sifting through the sand when we got there. Adam said he wore himself out doing the same. The area wasn’t large that they had been searching, but that doesn’t always mean much. The ring could have been flipped into another area altogether. I began my search over where Adam and his friend had been looking, beginning from the edge working my way in. I found a few pieces of trash metal, and then right in the middle of their search area I got that good gold signal, dug, and had this cool looking ring in my scoop. Adam had not described the ring before I began, so I saw a ring I wasn’t expecting, and before he knew I found it, I said it must be a real cool looking ring. He replied it was with a questioning look, and then I held it up for him, which totally surprised him when he realized I found it right in the middle of where they had previously searched. He was very happy, and I was pleased to be able to return such a special ring for him.

Alex contacted me because he and his wife were down on the beach, and during the movement of their beach chairs, his ring disappeared. We discussed what had happened, and I asked the many questions I normally ask to try to understand the conditions of the loss. I was able to go immediately, to insure the recovery was made.

When I arrived Alex met me, and took me to where the ring was lost. When we arrived his wife Nora was waiting. She had secured the site, so no one else laid out their towels over the ring. They were there celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary, and to have this loss happen was somewhat devastating. They showed me what happened, and where they had been sitting explaining where they believed the ring to have gone. I set up, and began my search. One pass, one scoop, and the ring was recovered. It was a little off of where they believed it to have gone, but in the general direction. They were so happy to have the ring back, so they could enjoy the rest of their anniversary celebration. Keith called me for a search of a church rectory and children’s play yard. The rectory had recent work, and they were worried about nails and other pointy things left over from the construction, and he also wanted me to check the play yard for dangerous items. I let him know this would be possible, and we arranged a time to meet.

When I got to the church, Keith met me, and showed me where to search. I began, and found that there were many deep items, but not much surface items, but I was able to find some around the rectory. After searching the rectory, we went over to the play area, where in the crumbled tire mulch that surrounded the equipment I was able to find many items that could have caused serious injury to the children. After I finished Keith seemed very happy to know that the children would be safer.

Katie lost her engagement ring of 1 1/2 years yesterday at the beach where she had gone to beat the heat we are experiencing here in Southern California. While she was brushing the sand off, her ring unknowingly came off in the soft sand. After she realized what had happened and intensely searched for it, she found me on The Ring Finders site and called me this morning. We discussed what had happened, and it sounded like we should be able to find the ring. we arranged to meet at the beach when her time would allow.

When I arrived, because of the remote location surrounded by mountains, I was losing my phone signal, so finding her became an exercise, but we were finally able to connect. Katie then led me down to the area they had been the previous day. She had marked the spot with sticks ( a very smart move) in order to find it the next day. She explained where she had been, and I was off and searching. After a couple of passes with no signal I received a very low tone in the headphones, but kind of « sticky ». It was the only signal so I dug, and dumped the sand and rescanned the hole, I had gotten it out. I then scanned the dumped sand and the signal was strong, I scooped again and there in the scoop was her beautiful gold and diamond engagement ring. Oh was she happy! She then called her fiancé to let him know the ring had been found. She put the phone on speaker, and he expressed his gratitude as well. To see her joy was a refreshing sight in this time when many are fearful and despairing. What a really great day!

Katy contacted me yesterday about a ring she lost the night before. It was her wedding ring. She had been shaking her hand in the driveway when both her wedding ring and engagement rings flew off of her finger into the grass next to the driveway. She and her husband searched for the rings, and were able to find the engagement ring, but not the wedding ring. I was finishing up breakfast, and let her know I would be there as soon as I got my equipment together, and hopped on the road. Katy was not going to be able to be there, but had a babysitter that I would be able to give her ring to when it was found.

When I got to the house I let the babysitter know that I was going to begin my search. Katy had sent me some pictures of the area along with some explanation of what had happened which helped to focus the search area. I began where she had marked the asphalt showing where she had been standing while shaking her hand, and worked out from there. From what she had told me I figured she had been facing the street, and shaking her hand out towards the grass, so I focused my search out in the yard, and into a planter that was in the middle of the yard. I then began to work out towards the street in the grass. The ring was not there, so I went back to the starting point and started working in the opposite direction back towards the fence line, when about 12 feet back I got a nice solid signal, and looked down to find the ring sitting on the surface, waiting for a lawnmower to come along and destroy it. Katy was not able to be there for the return, so I got in the photo instead. She did let me know how happy she was that the ring was found. I do enjoy reinstating smiles for people!

Designer Earring Lost in Sand During Photo Shoot at Dockweiller Beach, CA…Found and Returned.

I received a call from Anthony, a member of a film crew involved in a photo shoot for Goop, an Internet lifestyle company. He told me that during the shoot, one of the models had completed a session, and realized that one of the designer earrings she was wearing was missing. Anthony then put me in touch with Jacklynn, and we arranged to meet as soon as I could get there.

When I got to the beach, Jacklynn was waiting for me, and took me out to where they believed the earring to be missing. There was still a lot of equipment on the beach, so I began working around it all. She showed me where the model had been in the different areas of the beach, and I did a thorough search not finding the ring. We then started moving the photo equipment around allowing me access to some of the sand I could not reach before. I then asked to see the other earring, and placed it on the sand. When I passed my coil over it I realized it was not a booming signal as thought it would be. Then the crew broke for lunch, and took all of the equipment back to the parking area which allowed me to do a tight grid over the whole area. All the time I was picking up bottle caps, pull tabs, foil, screws, and nails. It wasn’t until I got to the top of one area of the slope, that I received a real quiet whisper of a signal in the head phones and dug. In my scoop was the earring I was looking for. I brought it back to cheers from all involved, which made it a lot of fun. Chandler, one of the models joined me in the picture above. Leaving happiness behind is my goal!
