We had just finished dinner, and were relaxing for the evening about 8:00 PM when Lisa called about 3 rings she had lost earlier in the day. She was wondering if I would be available the next day to help her find them in the sand at the beach. I could not let her wait, and encouraged a search that same night knowing that too much time elapsed, and too many variables (County beach cleaners, and other people metal detecting) could lead to not being able to find them. I asked if she could meet me down at the beach in about an hour, and I would do a search for her. She agreed, and I was on my way.

I met Lisa and her husband on the bike path, and we trudged out across the expanse of sand in the darkness. It was difficult for Lisa and her husband to find the exact spot using phone lights because there was nothing left to mark the area, but they knew the general area, and I knew that a meticulous grid and patience would eventually end up with success. So I began my search. I worked a little outside of the area, and moved in towards the suspected spot. Then one of the rings, the light silver one was spotted on the surface, and I went in to find the other two. Within a couple of minutes, at about 10:00 PM Lisa had all of her rings back, and was assured of a good night’s sleep. What a joy to bring this kind of joy to others.

Engagement Ring recovered in Long Beach

Call Surf City Ring Finder 714-944-0555

Kayla called me Sunday night at 8pm and asked if I could help find her engagement ring she lost in the dry sand. The ring just slipped off her finger while she was picnicking with her fiancé Christian.

I immediately headed to their location and they were waiting for me to arrive. They were going to buy a cheap metal detector at a sporting goods store but they were closed already. Before they left to the store Christian put a stick in the sand to mark the location of the loss.

They weren’t 100 percent sure the ring was even lost at the picnic site. I started to detect towards the stick and I received a great signal with a VDI of 8, the same as her matching ring so I reached down and saved her ring from a sandy grave.

Nick contacted me to see if I would be available to do a search for his gold chain he had lost earlier that day. It was an item that had very strong religious significance for him. He was sure it was lost on the beach, but he had left for the day, and was unable to go back. He was able to give me very good coordinates for the area of the loss, so I told him I would go that night knowing that in the morning the County beach sifters would be cleaning everything in their way.

I got to the spot and lined up the best I could, and began my grid. I covered all of the area without the chain showing up, but I know that a chain is a difficult item to find with a detector, So I started a cross grid over the previous searched area. While doing my cross grid I received a faint signal, dug, and found Nick’s chain. I felt pretty good finding this, because it was a fine link chain. I let Nick know that I found it, and we arranged to meet at a local park the next day so I could get it back to him.

I got a call from Brandon in the evening. He had been at the beach cleaning off his surfboard when with the flick of his hand his ring went flying into the sand. He searched diligently yet was unable to find it. I let him know I would leave soon to help him find it.

When I arrived Brandon walked me out to the search area. He had marked the area very well, so he knew exactly how to find it which helped because it was dark. He had lined off the area, so that is where I started my search. I searched about 1 half of my grid line when I got a great signal, dug and had his ring. I handed it back to him which made him very happy.

Leonard called because he had lost his silver ring in his yard while throwing a ball to his dogs. It was a special gift from a friend, so it had a certain sentimental value for him. We arranged a time for me to do the search, and I went to help him in the recovery.

When I got there Leonard took me into the backyard where he showed me where the loss took place. There were a couple of planters and some bushes lining a grassy area, and not too far from the side of the area was a short fence that divided the yard from a brushy hillside. I began with the most likely area first in front of where he made the throw. Not finding the ring I began to work my way out of what would have been the line of the throw into the bushes and planters out to where the ball ended up; still no ring. I was sure hoping it did not go over the fence into the hillside brush. Before I started looking over the fence, I began to work the bushes behind the throwing point, and off to the side of where he had been standing. When sweeping under one of the bushes I got a good signal, lifted to branches, and there it was. I lifted it up to show them, and they showed such surprise that it had ended up there. I believe that « Out of the Box » thinking is what makes The Ring Finders so successful. Sometimes it just isn’t where you think it is. So glad to be a help that day.

Ryan was at the beach with his wife, and they lost their house key, which made it impossible to get into the house without calling a locksmith. He called and asked if I could help, and I let him know that I would be right over to do a search for him.

I got to the beach, and Ryan met me and took me to the spot that they had been earlier. He showed me where they had been sitting, and I could see where they had unsuccessfully searched themselves. It took all but about 2 minutes to find the key for him, and have him on his way to be able to enter their house. Ryan was certainly pleased at the quickness of the find.

Dan had lost his wedding ring while gardening in his yard, and asked if I would do a search for him. I let him know that I would be happy to do so, and we arranged a time for the search.

I got to his house at the appointed time, and Dan showed me where he thought the ring had come off. It was in a thick bunch of geraniums in a long planter in front of his house. He had trimmed the plants, and believed the ring came off during the process. I searched the planter very carefully, but there was a bunch of metal mesh for the support of the plants that was making a complete search impossible. I searched the grass in front of the planter in case the ring had fallen there. I also searched the clippings to see if he might have thrown it out with them; no ring. Dan asked if I could come back if he were able to remove the metal mesh from the planter, and I said I would.

I got a call from Dan a week later that he had cleaned out the planter. Well when I got there I saw that he had certainly cleaned out the planter. Not only did he remove the mesh, he also cut the geraniums down almost to their roots. I again searched the planter; no ring. I went and searched the clippings; no ring. So I began a search of the grass in front of the planter, got a good signal, reached in with the pin pointer, and there it was. It must have fallen when Dan moved all of the foliage from the planter. Scored on the second try, and he was happy to have his ring again!

It was about 11:30 PM when I received the call from a desperate gentleman who had lost his keys in the sand at the beach. Someone had taken them from him, and thrown them in the sand. The parking lot he was in was closed, and he was talking of sleeping the night in his car, so it wouldn’t get towed. I let him know I would come and help.

When I got there I had to park up on the street and walk down to the beach, it was about 12:00 AM now. He showed me where he had been when the keys were thrown, and about where he thought they might be. I turned everything on, and began my grid. I encountered a major problem right away; this beach was infested with metal trash the likes I have never seen all the years I have detecting which made me search at a snail’s pace, having to investigate all the signals I was getting. Finally after about an hour at just after 1:00 AM I dug another signal, and had his keys.. I held them up, and he ran over and hugged me tightly, so happy to not have to sleep in his car in the parking lot. A very happy end of a day!

I received a call from a lady who wished to remain anonymous. She had lost her Mother’s ring in sand at the beach, and needed help in finding it. I let her know I would be on my way.

When I got to the beach she was waiting for me, and showed  me the small area of where she believed the ring should be, so I set up for a search. I started in the middle of the area, and after about 5 swings of my coil I got the sound I wanted, dug, and had her Mother’s Ring with her children’s names written in gold wire in my scoop. She was very thankful, and took my picture with the ring. A fulfilling afternoon!

Arvin called, and he was very unhappy, because he had lost the special ring his father had given him in the sand of the beach. He was shaking the sand out of his shoes when his heavy silver ring slipped off of his finger, and disappeared in the sand. I left immediately to do the search, as I could tell he was very disappointed about the loss.

I got to the beach and found Arvin. We went over what had happened, and I began my grid not finding even trash metal. Then I received a very high signal, so high in fact it was bordering on rusted iron. I dug, and in my scoop was a very heavy silver ring. I gave it to Arvin who was so happy to know that his dad’s gift was with him again!
