I was enjoying a good sound sleep when my phone rang at 5:30 AM. It was Robyn. She had lost her gold Cartier ring while taking pictures at about 10:00 PM the night before near the water at the beach. She reached down to wash some sand from her hands when in a moment, the ring that was a little loose fitting came off, and disappeared in the sand and water. Robyn had not been able to sleep well the night before, found my information on The Ring Finders site, and called immediately, just as I ask. I let her know that I had to get some nourishment, wake up a bit, and I would be on my way. She said she would meet me there. Always, the sooner the search happens the more apt you are to have a successful recovery.

I got to the beach a little before Robyn, and began searching the area she showed me by a Google Earth shot she sent to me. I did not find anything, the sand I covered was free from any type of metal. I was ready to enter the water to look when Robyn came with her husband David. We discussed the loss, and they showed me that I might have been looking in the wrong area by about 30 feet. I moved over, and began a grid working back to the original search area. Working my way up the slope I finally got a signal, and my hopes rose, as I am certain they did for Robyn, I dug, and up came a piece of aluminum which turned out to be a bit disheartening for the 3 of us. I continued working towards the original search area, when I received my second signal down in the moist wet sand. I dug, and I could see a small piece of iron come up. I picked it up and went over the hole again with the coil, and received another signal, I scooped again, dumped the sand, and kicked it across the beach when there on top was a nice gold ring. I looked at Robyn and David, and gave them a thumbs up. They immediately came over, and David picked up the ring in disbelief, both of them thinking it was lost forever. We as ring finders know that time is the enemy of a good recovery, and Robyn made the right choice by calling me immediately, not caring what time it was. I was so happy to get this ring back to them. Their smiles tell it all!

Got a call from Denis after he lost his cell phone while playing soccer with his family on the beach. they were running around, when his phone came out of his pocket, and disappeared in the sand. I left as soon as we got off of the phone, in order to do a search as soon as possible.

When I got there they were easy to find, and we went over the loss, and the possible areas to look in. I began in the most likely area. I made a few passes with no luck. His sister pointed out another area, and some people that were there were kind enough to move their belonging to enable me to search that area as well. A few more passes, and then strong signal. I carefully scooped, and brought up the phone. When I showed them the phone they were very excited to have it back, and I was glad to have made Denis’ day.

I received a call from Jarred asking for help in finding his wife Allison’s wedding ring lost after taking it off to put on sunscreen. She had taken off two rings, and put them in her shorts pocket for safe keeping, but after getting up to go play volley ball with her friends, she realized they were gone. She and her husband, as well as her friends searched, and were able to find one of the rings, but the ring that was originally her grandmother’s was gone, I told them I would be able to get there as soon as I completed another search that I was currently on, and as soon as I was done I would let them know I was on my way.

I got the beach, and found Jarred and Allison. They showed me where Allison had been sitting, and where they found the other ring, so I began my search there, with no results. She then showed me the path she took to the volleyball court, and I slowly covered the area finding a couple of pieces of trash metal, and a dime. I then covered the court where she had played, and also the area where she had shagged some of the balls out of the court. I then worked back to the original area covering a different path. When we got back, Allison’s friends had moved all of the belongings so I could perform a more thorough search in the area. I worked back from where they had recovered the other ring, and at least 5 feet back from where she had been sitting I got a good signal, and recovered her ring. The whole group of her friends erupted with joy, and had me line up with them for a group shot. What a fun and happy eventful day!

Matthew had gone with his family to the beach for a fun day out, when while playing with his children, and a flick of his wrist, his wedding ring was gone into the soft beach sand. He told me he had searched for about 4 hours before his wife found me on The Ring Finders web site, and gave me a call. Being that that particular beach is highly metal detected, I let her know that I was leaving immediately, so as to have the best possibility of a recovery.

I got to the beach quickly, and found the family. Matthew explained and showed me what had happened. He had been on the slope of sand that goes down to the water from where they had their towels when he flicked his wrist. What made it more difficult for his own search was the fact that movement by him and his children in the area of the loss caused more sand to move down the slope and cover the ring deeper in the sand. I worked my way down the slope with no signal, and then began working back up in a grid fashion when near the bottom of the slope I got a good solid signal, dug, and had Matthew’s ring in the scoop. They were very happy to have it back, as this was specially engraved. I looked and noticed that Matthew’s wife had a silicone ring on, and complimented her for her conscientiousness regarding her jewelry. A very happy ending to the day!

I received a text from Chris regarding the loss of his wife’s wedding ring in the sand. She had lost two rings, her engagement ring and wedding ring after having removed them to put sunscreen on. She placed them on a towel next to her, and then forgetting they were there moved the towel, and the rings were gone. They were able to find the engagement ring, but not the wedding ring. I left immediately knowing the sooner the search the better the chance of a recovery.

When I got to the beach, I quickly found Chris and his wife Aura. They explained what had happened, and showed me the area (which wasn’t very big) where the loss occurred. We moved some of the beach things they had there like the aluminum beach chair, in order to facilitate a search with no interference. I set up and swung about 3 times, got a great signal, dug, and had a pretty ring in my scoop. Aura told me how they had gone to Venice, Italy to get married, and that their Priest had given her ring special blessing, so to lose this token of their love for each other was heart breaking for them. It is such a great thing to be a happy part of people’s lives in returning to them what they think might be lost forever!

David contacted me asking if I would be able to help find his wife’s engagement ring that was lost in the beach sand. She had been digging in the sand with her child, and then all of a sudden realized her ring was no longer on her finger. I closed up and put away my dinner that I was eating, and headed right out to do the search knowing that this beach is detected all the time.

When I got to the beach, David met me and explained what had happened. There were two areas of concern, so I began in the first one he showed me. I did a completed grid of that area with no ring, so I went over to the next spot. As I went to the next spot, I made sure to search all the way over, just in case the ring had come off somewhere in between. I got to the second area, swung twice, got a real good signal, dug, and in my scoop, was a beautiful ring that I held up for David and his wife who got so excited to see again what she was thinking was lost forever. David told me that he had saved for 4 years to get that ring for his bride, so this recovery had much significance. A very happy day!

I received a text from Trisha. Her husband was throwing a rugby ball to his son, when on one pitch he felt his wedding ring fly off of his hand, and into the sand. With the force of his pitch he knew the ring could have gone far, and all that sand looks the same. They were on vacation from Delaware, were going back in a week, and did not want to leave his ring in California. I left immediately.

When I got there Trisha and her husband Andrew were waiting. They took me over to where the loss occurred. Andrew stood where he was when the ring came off, and showed me the direction of the pitch. I could see that they had searched quite a large area, but were not able to find the ring. I started at the spot where Andrew had been standing, and began my grid. The area was fairly clean of metal trash, though I was finding some of the common items such as foil and pull tabs. I searched out until I got to the outer edge of where they had already searched, and then right in the middle of their foot drag marks, I received a good repeating signal, dug, and had Andrew’s ring. They were very excited to see it again, and I am sure, wondering how they had missed it. It turned out to be a very happy day for all!

Zack called me to ask if I could help in finding his lost wedding ring. I was more than happy to offer my services. He had been in his small back yard throwing a ball to his child, when he felt his ring come off. He heard it hit the fence where there was a narrow area for plants, but he searched to avail, even with a rented metal detector. I was on my way.

When I got there, Zach let me into the yard. It was surely small, and the grass area was Astro Turf which could not hide the ring, so the only possibility was the narrow planting area which was next to the fence. That area was covered in wood chips that does provide cover for lost items, but they were pretty tightly packed. There were some small bushes that you could pretty much see through, and one good sized rubber tree. I scanned the wood chips, the small bushes also using the pin pointer, and then moved to the rubber tree. I searched around the tree, and then used the pin pointer to go into the leaf joints. I Started working around the back side of the tree, when right next to the tree in the dead leaves my pin pointer went off. I reached in, and moved the leaves around, and spotted the ring. I brought it out and gave it to Zach. He was so surprised, because he had searched the area, even with his rented metal detector, but came up empty. We as Ring Finders are very good at what we do. Do not hesitate to call if you need something found!

Ryan contacted me about his wedding ring lost in the surf while he was swimming at the beach. It was a matching ring to his wife’s, and not one that he wanted to lose. I let him know that we had to wait a while for the tide to drop to allow a thorough search of the area, because the tide was high when the ring was lost.

When I got there Ryan met me, and took me to the area of the loss. He showed me what had happened, and where he thought the ring came off. I began my grid up and down the beach, and into the water, as I had to be sure to cover all the sand possible. The beach was sanded in, so there was a lack of signals, just a lot of quiet as I was searching. I kept making my grid, line after line, and fighting the moving water as I went into the surf, then after a long stretch, I got a good signal, dug, and there it was, Ryan’s ring. He had left, because he had a party to attend, so he was not able to see me bring it up out of the sand, but I sent him a text with a picture of his ring and he got right back to me. We arranged to make the return, on their way to the party, and ended a very happy day.

I was on my way to search for Jason’s ring in Westlake when Bryan called to ask if I could help find his lost keys that he had lost at the beach the day before. We discussed the loss, and he told me that it happened on the newly constructed berm used to hold winter storm surf back. He had brought his daughter there to use her Boogie Board as a « snow » sled as many do at the beach in the winter. I let him know that as soon as I completed my ring search, I would head towards the beach, and call him to tell him I was on the way.

I contacted Bryan when I was coming out to the beach, and we arranged to meet a certain parking lot. When I got there I found him, and we started over to the berm. He showed me where he had been, and where he thought the keys might have been lost. I began my search covering the whole area he had showed me with no luck. I began to search on the end of the berm, because he believed he had been there doing some tricks, still no luck. Then I started looking on the other side of the berm, even though he said he did not spend much time there. I worked my way down, and Bryan asked me to extend the search out a little, as he remembered the area being a little larger than at first thought. I continued searching until I got to the bottom of the berm, and got a good solid signal, dug, and had a nice set of keys in my scoop. Bryan had his back to me when I found them, but his daughter had been watching from the top of the berm, and when I held the keys up she ran to her father to exclaim that they had been found. Needless to say there was happiness in the air!
