I received a text on Monday February 8th from Alison asking if I was able to help her find her rings which she had lost in her back yard over the weekend.

After talking to Alison and asking many questions I agreed to schedule a time to search but unfortunately the weather was against us due to an arctic vortex clamping down on Alberta with extremely cold windshield values between -40 Celsius and -45it was way too cold to be outside searching for the rings, I assured Alison that her rings are safe where they are and as soon as we have a break in the weather I would come out and find the rings for her.  Friday February 12th we finally got a break in the weather, still cold at -25 Celsius but with hardly any wind! I texted Alison and agreed to meet up with her in the afternoon.

I met up with Alison and she showed me where she was standing on her deck when she shook her hand and both rings flew off and landed somewhere in the back yard.

Alison told me she spent an hour searching for the rings using a rake to sift through the snow but with no luck. With my experience I knew the rings were very close to where she was standing and not where she thought the rings could be.

Within 5 minutes I found one ring so then I knew the other ring was close by and within 12 inches I found the other.

I took both rings to Alison in the house, she was so grateful to have her rings back on her finger – a happy ending!

The Culprit

Question is: Did Laser eat my Earring and Ring?

Jesse called me on Thursday requesting my service to locate a missing ring and earring.  Jesse said the ring went missing about one month ago, and the earring went missing two weeks ago from his bedroom dresser table.  The only possible culprit was his six month old dog Laser!

After asking Jesse several questions like; how was Laser feeling, did he have any signs of discomfort, and was he his normal self Jesse replied that he was fine so my next question was; is Laser a free roamer on the acreage?  Jesse replied no, that he is always let out into his dog run which is huge,  about 80’ x 80’ and that his daily deposits were still frozen on the ground.  I thought to myself, “hmmm interesting”, wonder which pile the ring could be in and also the earring!

I agreed to meet up with him Saturday morning.  When I arrived at the acreage I met Jesse and Andria.  They showed me the dog run where I met Laser. Andria told me about Laser, how he is obsessive with his toys and rocks, and eats anything that a six month old dog would do. When wearing her rings he would lick her hands.  Andria was positive that he ate the ring and also her earring, as two weeks ago she had found her jewellery box on the floor in her bedroom and one of her earrings was missing.

After searching about one hour the ring was found in a nice pile in the corner of the yard.  My next question was where is the earring?  I told Jesse that I needed the other earring so that I could tune my detector to it.

I carefully searched for the earring where the ring was found but had no luck. I decided to search the other corner of the yard and knowing how hard earrings are to find I began very slowly and low scan search each inch and finally I heard a faint tone! I called Jesse over and told him “there IT IS”!   He looked but could not see because the earring was inside this pile! LOL, and again I said “this is it”!  He could not believe his eyes when we took the pile in to be washed out and there was Andria’s beautiful diamond earring!

Jesse and Andria was over the moon that her ring and earring was back where they belonged!

Another very happy client!  Thank you, Jesse and Andria, for entrusting me to find your missing jewellery in a very unusual location. Yes, Laser was definitely the culprit!

Ryan e-mailed me this morning asking if I could help him locate his I-phone which he lost yesterday while shovelings snow.  He said he knew the approximate location where his phone was but unfortunately the battery had died and was no longer sending out a signal to locate it on his app (Find My Phone).

I told Ryan I would come out to help him locate his phone.   I met Ryan and he explained to me what he was doing and that the phone could be in a couple of locations in a the snow bank.  After searching the known locations with no luck I searched another area where he said he been throwing snow into the bush.  Safely buried in the snow lay his phone which made Ryan very happy to have the phone back in his possession.

Thank you Ryan for entrusting me to find your I-Phone! Another happy client.

Today I received an e-mail from Rachael asking if I would be able to find her keys.  I agreed to meet up with her at her apartment parking lot where she thought they could be.  After asking a few questions I began to search around her car and then the immediate area from the back entrance of the building.  I found them buried in about two inches of snow.   Rachael was very happy to have her keys back as we all know how expensive it is to replace security chip keys.

Thank you Rachael for entrusting me to find your lost keys.

Renn called me on Wednesday September 23 requesting my service to locate his eleven year old daughter earring which was lost at her grand parents back yard! Ring Finder Called Out To Find A Crop Lifter! In A 40 Acre Canola Field!! Flagstaff County, Alberta Canada

Neil called me to ask if I had a metal detector that could detect a piece of equipment that fell off his swather and ended up in a windrow on 40 acres of canola crop. His windrows were about six feet wide and roughly three feet high and I told him that I did have a metal detector that could possibly find it! I told Neil that this would be a great test for my detector and that I would do my best to find the crop lifter.

We both agreed to meet.  Neil told me he had to find that crop lifter before he could continue to combine his crop.  The first day we spent approximately five hours riding on a quad going at a snail pace down the windrow, Neil driving and me riding shotgun.  No luck.

Second day out;  No Luck.

Yesterday Neil called me again to see if I was able to come out today and try again because time is running out and he wants his crop in the bins. I told him I would be there around 9:30.  Neil told me I would be riding with his brother Owen this time.  Owen and I started out from where we last left off a few days back and after a couple of hours of going up and down five windrows,  bingo I found the crop lifter.   Owen was very happy and now he and Neil can continue to finish harvesting.

As you can see I’m always open to a challenge and believe me this one was a real challenge.  If that piece of equipment had been picked up by the combine that could have been one major expense and down time for them.

Thanks Neil and Owen! I had a great time ridding shotgun.

I received a call from Carolyn requesting my service to locate her earing lost in her back yard! Carolyn was kneeling on the lawn when her dog jumped up and tried to chew her ear.  He tugged on the earring and took off with it.

I met Carolyn this morning and she showed me the area.   Thankfully Carolyn had left every thing the way it was when it happened which made my search easer.  After tweaking my V3i to her other earring I began my search.  After about an hour of searching I found her earring.  I called Carolyn over to  show her how well covered with grass her earing was.   She was very happy to have her earring back!

Kevin called me yesterday afternoon requesting my assistance to locate his wedding ring which he had lost two weeks ago while gardening in his back yard.  After asking Kevin a few questions I agreed to meet with him in an hour.  His yard is huge! After a three hour search I called it quits for the evening but I assured Kevin if the ring was in the area I would find it for him! I told him that I would return the next day to continue the search and in the mean time to relax. I knew that was a hard thing for him to do as so far 2020 had been a disappointing year for him.

When I met up with Kevin the following afternoon I told him I was armed and had my « top guns » with me! I assured him that I was going to find his ring.  I retraced my steps once again where I thought the most likely place the ring could be but unfortunately I had no luck.  I kept looking in his compost pile as something told me it might be there but had no luck.  I kept asking Kevin questions trying to jog his memory.

My questions did trigger Kevin’s memory!  He had brought his wheel barrow and dumped his rose bush and other garden material in a pile at another location.   I searched the area and Bingo,  I heard  a very sweet tone and knew that was his ring!  I told Kevin that it was his lucky day.   At the bottom of the pile was his lost ring!  Kevin could not believe his eyes when I showed him his ring and was so happy to have his ring back.  It pays to keep  asking questions all the time even if  you have asked before. You keep asking as sometimes it jogs a distant memory,  just keep asking!

Another Very Happy Client! Thank you Kevin and the best of luck to you and your family in the future.

Scott called me yesterday morning requesting my service to locate his wife’s earring. After asking Scott a few questions I agreed to meet around 2:30 pm.

His wife, Isis, had been brushing her hair outside, felt the earring come off, and then had heard a ping sound. I searched the possible area for the earring and moved some rocks. With my pin pointer I was able to locate the earring underneath the rocks. I called Isis over and showed her where I found the earring. She was very happy to have her earring back as the earring had been in her possession for a very long time.

Another Happy Client.
