Got a text message the other night in regards to a Lost Ring in a volleyball court, this will be my third this year and so far I was two for two. I talk to the young man and asked him the questions I needed to know before I showed up, in regards to the search. He told me his friends searched for a long time into the dark and he bought a Metal Detector but still couldn’t find the ring.
We arrange to meet the next morning at 10 AM when the manager open the gate, even though he had bought a Metal Detector and his friends had search I knew my chances were great. After setting up my search I decided not to use my sand scoop in order to surprise him with the find, it took about 10 minutes and I found his beautiful white gold wedding band and I was able to surprise him.

Imagine losing something so special that was a gift from your father, something that you’ve cherished for half of your life. I’m talking about a gold coin that his father wore for most of his life then gifted it to his son when he was 16 years old. Flashback seven years ago 2014 this young man lost the gold coin out of the setting on a school field, I found that it in a short period of time and was able to return his gold Mexican peso.
Now 2021 he loses both the coin and the gold chain which he took off before playing rugby to keep it safe he put it into a floppy hat in his bag. After playing in the hot sun for a while he ran over to his bag to grab the hat and put it on, forgetting his gold coin and chain was in the hat. After 30 minutes of running around the field he ran to the sideline and threw the hat towards his bag.
After the game he went to grab his gold coin and chain and realized it was in his hat, his first thought was it would’ve fallen out as soon as he grabbed it out of the bag. That was my thought as well, he’s searched all around but could not find it. He was a little embarrassed to call me for the second time to come out and look his gold coin but he gathered up the courage and gave me a call. After talking with him for a while I was excited to possibly be able to return this beautiful coin back to him for the 2nd time.
We met at the field I began my search near the tree where his bag was but did not find it anywhere near the tree, I knew my next step was to search the field and that was gonna be a big job as it could’ve fallen out of the hat while he was playing. But after asking a few more questions he told me that he had I can off his hat and threw it towards the sidelines after about 30 minutes of playing. This excited me with the thought of maybe the chain and coin got caught in the brim of his hat and when he threw it that’s when it came out…
You’re doing a great search and most likely an hour into the search not far from the area where he threw his hat I found his beautiful gold Mexican peso attached to his gold chain, I was so excited to be able to find this for the second time knowing how much it meant to this young man.
I had another surgery scheduled earlier that morning so I went off to do that one contacting him to let him know I was coming back to continue my search, I called him when I was there and said could you come and show me the area once again just to make sure I didn’t miss anything and that’s when I surprised him…

My day job consists of mostly 13 hour days and it’s rare to get time off but luckily this week, I had two days off where I was able to recover two items for two very happy customers. The universe works in wonderful ways for this story because this couple were ending a beautiful 10 day vacation in the Sunshine Coast, unfortunately they lost a very special ring.
They went online and found TheRingFinders directory and gave me a call that evening, they told me they were returning back to Toronto the next day and luckily I was off work that day so we arranged to meet in at 12 noon at Davis Bay.
After a 3 hour wait at the ferry terminal, 40 minute ferry ride and a 40 minute drive, I arrived at Davis Bay, I heard the story about how the ring was lost and the couple showed me where they lost the ring on the beach, remember it’s a big beach and what seems to be a small area could always turn out to be an extremely large area and as you know it’s a game of inches and you have to go over the ring to find it. The difficulties of this search was that it wasn’t lost in the sand it was lost in fist size rocks, making it slippery and difficult to search the area properly.
After listening to their story and where they believe the ring came off I started my search, I knew I was under a bit of pressure because the sooner I could find this ring the sooner they can start getting ready to make their way back to Vancouver to fly out to Toronto that evening.
After approximately 40 minutes of searching I found his beautiful ring! I was so relieved and happy to find it so quickly knowing that they could comfortably take a ferry back over to Vancouver and drive to the airport and catch their connecting flight to Toronto. Success!

I received a text message from a very upset young lady who said her beautiful diamond engagement ring fell into the river, not just a river but the Fraser River. I know the Fraser River and how harsh the currents are so I was not hopeful in being able to help her until they told me it was Lost in a side River by the Fraser River.
The next thing was it was lost between seven and 10 feet of water off of the dock, I’m now looking for a diver and call one of my friends on the directory. After conversing a bit more with the people I asked if they can go back at low Tide and see if there’s any chance we can do this without a diver as I know the water levels fluctuate quite a bit. They went back and text message me that it was waist deep by the dock, this was great news I can do this search without bringing in a diver and wasting his time. They also told me the current was very very strong when they lost the ring over the dock. They felt that the ring must’ve gone down river and it was a hopeless cause.
Mike didn’t even want me to come out he thought he was wasting my time but his wife said she wanted me to come out and search, she also didn’t think I had a chance of finding it but I know and understand what closure means to people. I wasn’t quite sure what I was in for because I’ve never been called to do a ring search in the Fraser river. It was muddy we had to take a boat to a mile away from the location and walk in, it was a hot day and I love my job!
They show me the area where they placed the dock only weeks earlier fortunately where they put it was very very little trash which makes my job much easier, the other key factor was we were able to lift the buckets of cement and move the dock away from the search area this was a huge benefit and helped in locating her beautiful diamond ring. I am so honoured to be able to help continue the story of her ring and see both of their smiles…
The search took 30 minutes, time spent getting there and back four hours. I love my office and to meet 4 wonderful people and help find their smiles makes the boat ride back so much nicer…

I was at work when I received a text message for help in finding a lost wedding band, I quickly called the young man in regards to where and how he lost his ring. He told me he was playing volleyball and before the game he took off his ring and put it in the cupholder of his chair, after the game he picked up his chair and was walking to his truck when he got to his truck he realized there was no ring in the cupholder. This happens a lot where people takeoff their ring to keep it safe but forget they put it in a special place then pick up and walk away. When I finish work in arrived at the volleyball court I heard his story and where he picked up his chair unfortunately it was all dried grass and a ring could show itself very easily without the help of a Metal Detector.
My thought was the only chance we had is if the ring made it into the sand in the volleyball court, within only a matter of a minute I found his beautiful white gold hammered ring in the sand. To see his smile and how much this meant to him to get it back makes me feel so happy that I was able to help continue his beautiful story.

I was at work when I received a phone call in regards to helping find a lost diamond ring in the ocean at English Bay Beach in Vancouver. I asked my standard questions to get a feel on what my chances were of finding this ring for them, it was lost 24 hours prior to the call.
There’s always a risk that someone else could’ve found it before I got there but it’s always worth a shot to go out and search the area, I asked if they had marked the area so when I got there I’d be able to know where to search. They said they made great landmarks and they told me unfortunately they couldn’t be there to show me because they lived almost 2 hours from the beach.
It sure helps if people mark the areas so when I get there I have a decent chance of finding it, I’ve been searching for another ring for almost 3 days a total of over 12 hours in the water waist deep because the person isn’t quite sure where it came off, it’s a large area. I will not give up on this until I know I’ve completed that search and covered all the area.
This young man said he had marked the area where his girlfriend lost her diamond ring, when I arrived and after looking at photos and talking to him on the phone, I lined myself up in the ocean and headed in to do my search. Within only a couple of minutes I found her beautiful diamond ring. I truly have the best job in the world my office is always amazing and I meet great people!

It always starts off with a phone call or a text message in regards to a lost ring, Strangely I was already recovering a ring only 4 miles from this young man’s location. The odds of that is incredible that I’d already be two hours from home doing a search and receiving another search request only minutes from where I was. After finding a beautiful custom-made diamond ring for a young couple I headed off to the next location to help this young man. He wasn’t there as he lost it days before, I asked him questions about the location and if he could send me Google earth and he did, I went out there and did my best but could not retrieve the ring.
I wasn’t too concerned that someone else may have beat me to it because of the location he had lost it in, it was deep deep water up to my chin, also muddy, branches and rocky location that a lot of people do not like searching because of the difficulty involved. We made arrangements to meet on the weekend 4 days later, I met this young man and he told me the story of his lost ring. He was only married three months so you can imagine how painful this was for him and his wife to of lost this beautiful gold ring.
I told him it would be a very difficult search due to the conditions and the depth but I was willing and up for the challenge. After only 30 minutes I was able to retrieve his ring out of this muddy mess and surprise him!

I get a call from a young lady who told me that she had lost her ring at the Hayward lake in Mission, this is about a 2 hour drive from where I live. We discussed the search over the phone and the fact that it was lost where someone else could easily find it with a metal detector I knew I had to get there as soon as possible. We met the next morning and I heard the story of the ring and what it meant to them to get it back. I assess the search area, which I thought was going to be smaller and it turned out to be half of the swimming area. This could easily take a couple hours to grid search, but that’s OK I will do what I have to do to find that smile.
Because this lake/park does not allow Metal Detecting we had to get permission first, the permission was granted and I began my search in the areas they believe the ring could be in, after 20 minutes and no ring I asked a few more questions, one place stood out to me and I started searching that area and found her beautiful custom made diamond ring only minutes later… A total of 30 minutes to find her lost Smile!

I got a text message the other day in regards to Lost Ring at Locarno Beach Vancouver. I quickly called Maya to discuss the search and found out that she had taken the ring off and put it in your shorts pocket while she went for a swim, when she got out of the water she put on her shorts and didn’t realize till later that the ring was missing.
This has been happening a lot lately, people taking off the rings to keep them safe then forgetting and the ring falling out of her pocket or out of the shoe, very common. I found out that she had lost it the day before which always is a concern that somebody might beat me to it. When I arrived and started my search I quickly started finding pieces of iron, bottle caps ,and pull tabs so I was confident we had a good chance of finding it.
Maya also told me that she was going to dinner that night at her boyfriends parents place and it was her boyfriend’s mother who gave her the ring, so you can imagine how important it was that she had the ring on when she went there for dinner.
After 10 minutes I found her beautiful ring, I went to surprise her and my camera was full and I had no space to make the video I tried to do it on my GoPro I have to edit and see if I have enough footage to show you… the most important thing is we found her ring and her smile

I got a text message from a young man saying his friend lost a very special ring and asked if I could help. I asked him to get his friend to call me to tell me about the search area and where she thought she lost the ring. After discussing it over the phone we met up after work to take a look for it.
I met the young lady and her friend and she showed me where she was wiping some dirt from her pant leg and felt her ring fly off, there was a possibility it could’ve gone into the water but by the way she was standing I felt it was still in the grass. I was right it was further than I thought it would’ve travelled but you find them where you find them.
This ring was very special to the young lady it was a gift from her mother, a ring for protection. I was honoured to be able to find it for her and help continue the story.
