Lost diamond earring, Winter Park, Fl….Found!
Sunday afternoon David gave me a call and asked if I could possibly help him find a very special lost diamond stud earring! Two days earlier, David’s mother in law, Mrs Susan, was getting out of her car and a small low hanging tree branch got tangled in her hair and she felt a slight tug at her ear and in the next moment her earring was gone! They immediately searched the thick low ivy bushes, along the concrete and even in the car thinking maybe it could have fallen in there as well. After an hour of frantic searching they could not find the lost diamond stud earring and decided to try again later.
As David thought about how to find the earring he went online and looked up where he could rent a metal detector and that search led him to « theringfinders.com » and one of my recent search and recovery stories.
I met David at his mother in laws home and he promptly showed me the area where Mrs Susan lost her precious earring. The ivy ground cover was super thick and as I turned on my Garrett ATMax metal detector and tried to ground balance the machine I had a very difficult time finding an area free of metal. I then tested the matching stud earring and it gave a very weak signal because it contained such a small amount of white gold. Unfortunately the rebar in the concrete and other underground interference would not allow me to use my metal detector so I opted to go with my Garrett Pro Pointer AT. As I started working my way along the edge of the thick ivy ground cover, David squatted down just in front and to the side of me and began searching with his eyes and he said, « There it is!! » And sure enough, there was Mrs Susan’s lost diamond stud earring. We could hardly believe it…as David, his wife and Mrs Susan had searched the area a couple of times and had all but given up hope!
It was an honor to have a small part in helping find this beautiful earring and I hope and pray it remains in your family for many years to come!

Nathan emailed me late Friday night and asked if there was any chance I could help him look for his lost tungsten wedding ring at the beach. He explained that they had spent part of the afternoon on the sand and in the water and only realized his ring was missing later while eating dinner. Nathan was not real used to wearing his wedding ring because he and his lovely wife had just gotten married four days earlier and they were on their honeymoon the day he lost his ring. Bummer, hey?! And to make matters worse they were going to be returning home to Missouri in just two days. I assured Nathan that his lost wedding ring was not going to be washed away and if he could remember exactly where they entered the water and about how far out they went…then there was a very good chance of finding his lost ring.
Erick had just bought his daughter a new fishing pole and they were on the end of his parents dock trying it out for the very first time when disaster struck! Erick said that after putting a nice juicy worm on the hook, he went to wash the goo from his hands and as he shook the excess water off, his heavy gold wedding ring went « plunk » right into the dark lake water! Erick was stunned as he watched it hit the water and disappear out of sight. Right away he tried to figure out how he could retrieve his ring so he checked the depth of the water and determined it to be around 11 feet deep. Too deep for him to jump in and attempt any sort of search himself. And the more he thought about his situation he felt there just had to be some way or someone who could help him retrieve his lost ring. So he went online and soon came across theringfinders.com and one of my successful recovery stories.
Chantal and her younger sister were enjoying a hot summer day by the cool dark waters of the Wekiva River. Wekiva Island is a unique place to swim and relax and spend time getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Earlier Chantal had laid out her towel at the waters edge and now as she was getting ready to gather up her belongings, she completely forgot that she had placed her Apple Watch on the edge of her towel and as she lifted her towel….the watch did a nose dive into the dark water and disappeared! Stunned she could not believe what had just happened! It was only 6 feet deep with a sort of sandy bottom mixed with leaves and other decaying debris, so how hard could it be to find it, right? For over an hour she dove and tried her very best to feel around with her feet, hoping to find her lost watch…but all to no avail!
When Matt called me I could tell by his voice he was a bit concerned about a special ring he had lost earlier that day! Here is the story in Matts own words. « Mike with The Ring Finders saved my vacation! While playing volleyball with my wife and two young sons, my college ring slipped off my finger and fell into the sand of the volleyball court. My heart immediately sank. As a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, our Aggie rings are sacred and my first thought was that I would never see my ring again. I searched for over an hour with no luck and after a brief Google search, my wife suggested calling The Ring Finders. After speaking with Mike, I was immediately put at ease. Miguel was enjoying a warm spring day on his family’s dock with some friends and as they were getting ready to head up to the house, he asked one of his friends to toss him his shirt. Earlier, Miguel had laid his shirt across the back of a lawn chair and also had removed his gold chain and cross and placed it on top of his shirt. (This chain was very special to him as it was a gift from his mom 12 years ago and he has worn it ever since!) As his friend grabbed the shirt the chain slipped off and fell directly thru a crack between the deck boards of the dock. Miguel did not actually see the chain fall but he was able to hear the sound of his chain and cross as it fell into the dark waters below the dock. Stunned, he could not believe what had just happened! He mustered the courage to get into the cold water and made his way under the dock. There were lots of underwater plants growing up from the muddy bottom making it very difficult for Miguel as he tried to feel with his hands and his feet. Numerous shells, sticks and leaves mixed into the silty bottom was a very discouraging place to have lost his precious chain and cross. He searched for a while and soon realized the futility plus he was getting very chilled so he climbed out and tried to think of what to do next. This led him to do a search online for « How to find a gold chain underwater » and thankfully « theringfinders.com » website came up. He clicked on one of my recovery stories and decided to give me a call.
Larry called me from their vacation apartment down by the Disney area and asked if I could help him and his wife, Danielle, find her lost diamond engagement ring. Apparently they were out late the night before and while walking back to their room, Danielle had taken all her jewelry off and handed everything to Larry. After entering the apartment Larry put all the jewelry on the dining table and they then retired for the night. The next morning they got up later than normal and eventually Danielle went to collect her jewelry and to her horror, she could not find her diamond engagement ring! They immediately retraced their steps from the previous night and by this time it was around 12:00 noon. They looked for a couple of hours and that is what led them to contact me, thru theringfinders. 
Dr. Greg emailed me on Saturday afternoon to see if I was available to help him find his lost wedding ring in his back yard. So we made arrangements to meet the next day to conduct a thorough search. Upon arriving I was told that the family had searched for three days with a low end metal detector. Gregg and his wife have been married for 25 years and a couple of their children were letting me know that I really needed to find their father’s lost ring, so that they, (the parents) could continue to be married again. Cute, hey? Apparently one of the boys had gotten a small drone stuck in one of the large oak trees and Greg was using a soccer ball to try and knock the drone free of the branches. He was throwing the ball straight up with force, using a two handed under throw and after a couple of throws he suddenly felt his ring go flying. Thankfully I had a test ring with a small piece of brightly colored ribbon attached to it and I asked Greg to do a couple of test throws. This gave us a good indication of the direction I needed to begin my search. It wasn’t long until I got a great shallow signal in the thick grass and sure enough there was Greg’s lost wedding ring. (I was using my Whites DFX metal detector in the Prospecting Mode, as there was allot of electrical interference and the usual Coin and Jewelry Mode was way to noisy.) It was a real pleasure to help Greg and his family and I hope he is able to get the ring resized so as not to loose it again!
Last Friday Amanda called me from San Antonio, Texas with a very special request. She explained that her mother Liz, who lives in Port Orange, Florida had just lost a very expensive diamond earring! Two days earlier Mrs Liz had an invitation to eat lunch at a friends house and before heading out the door she decided to wear her beautiful earrings that were a gift to her from her husband Tom, 14 years ago. They had a wonderful time visiting their friend and after a delicious meal Mr. Tom and Mrs. Liz headed for home. Immediately after arriving home Mrs. Liz went to her bedroom to remove her special diamond earrings and to her dismay one of them was missing. And the search began! They looked everywhere and could not find it. And she decided to call her daughter Amanda in San Antonio for some advice. The call was made and the next day I met Amanda’s parents. Mr. Tom and Mrs. Liz said they had the other earring in a small plastic bag so I could get a reading with my metal detector, but unfortunately the bag got misplaced or thrown out that morning and we had a frantic 30 minute search—emptying garbage bags and crawling all over the house. Thankfully Mr. Tom finally found it in the thrown out newspaper bin!! Before heading to the neighbors house I searched the car, the garage and basically the whole house with my flashlight and then we headed to the friends house.
