Gifted Silver Ring From Grandmother Lost and Found By A Metal Detector on Pine Point Beach,Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

On Friday Night, July 7th, I received a text from Domenic. In the text, Domenic stated that a ring, gifted to him by his now deceased Grandmother, had slipped off his finger, while “diving into a wave, approximately 75-100 feet from the high tide line”. Domenic went on to describe the ring as a “simple metal band with LOVE inscribed in a groovy-funky 1970’s – esque writing with a spot below the O, for a gem”. In Domenic’s own words, “I haven’t taken that ring off since she gave it to me 2016, and I’m heartbroken that I lost it”. Domenic also told me he found me through an internet search and that he was back in Boston as he had to work the next day.
I immediately called Domenic back and he described the area where he lost it, while swimming the day before. Since he was swimming at high tide, I told him I would go down 1st thing in the morning and follow the tide out with my metal detector. I arrived at Pine Point, Maine, an area within Scarborough, Maine and about 20 minutes south of Portland, Maine. I fired up the Minelab CTX-3030 at 5:20am and started a grid search, parallel to the beach and just followed the tide out. After 1:44 minutes, I received a strong loud signal, reading 12-46 on the VDI Screen. I scooped out one scoop full of sand and I saw just a sliver of something silver in color, laying on the beach. I picked it up and it was a ring with a funky “LOVE” written across the front. After 2 days of being in the ocean, I had found Domenic’s gifted ring.
Domenic had already gone home to the Boston area, so I sent him a text telling him I had recovered his ring. Domenic sent back a text saying “Oh wow, what a great message to wake up to! You are amazing”. We then made plans to meet up the following day to return his ring. Domenic made the approximately 2 hour drive from his home in the Boston area to Pine Point. We met in Old Orchard Beach and a very happy Domenic received his VERY SENTIMENTAL ring back. Who doesn’t just love a good ending? I am proud to be able to help people like Domenic and return something they thought would be lost forever.

*** Diego called asking if I could find a ring in the water. He and his family were in Long Beach at a park called Colorado Lagoon. He had waded out in the lagoon waist deep diving head first in the water. He knew that was when his ring came off his finger.

I asked him to mark the spot above the high tide line and take a couple photos. Tide was rising and it may be too deep by the time I get there. He wasn’t sure the whole family could stand by as they were just about ready to leave.

I made the 18 mile drive catching them still at the site of the loss. Diego was awfully upset. I calmed him down saying the most important part of the search is done. We know he felt the ring come off his finger and I have the exact location. It may be deeper that I can get today but tomorrow morning we have a very low tide. It’s a back bay with no waves. The ring isn’t going anywhere..

I did a thorough grid out to neck deep with no success. There wasn’t very many bottle caps or trash metal targets, which is a good thing. It was looking like a return search the next low tide. He was insistent that it was at least waist deep. Completing all the water grid before calling it a day, I got a strong signal in knee deep water. Boom! Tungsten Carbide ring that was definitely Diego’s ring.. Another Very Happy guy. I knew that this meant the world to him because he was speechless. A perfect day, when we do these searches we never know what we will run into.

Don’t waste time contact me now.. Timing is important, especially if the loss is in a public location. Lost White Gold Engagement Ring in Deer Lake….Found!!!

  • from Spokane (Washington, United States)

Swimming around, splashing and having fun Christina was enjoying  a summer time swim in Deer Lake. As the family dog inched closer to the edge of the dock, Christina started splashing at the dog to entice the dog to jump in. Watching the water droplets fly into the air Christina saw her engagement ring fly off of her finger and quickly sink into the deep dark water below. Panicking, Christina screamed for help. Her fiance Braeden heard her cries and ran out quickly to find out the cause. Dismayed by the news of the lost ring Braeden, Christina and  the friends and family that were there started to brainstorm on how to recover the ring. The water was 20ish feet deep, so they thought they might be able to drop a magnet down to retrieve the ring. After testing the magnet out on other rings that were present they found out gold is not magnetic. Braeden then knew what he had to do, ask Google a question. How to find a ring in a lake. BAM…The Ring Finders website showed up with the answer. Call Luke Schlining the Ring Finder 509 263-8995 the story read. I was just walking back to my car after celebrating a birthday party for some neighbor kids when I got a call. « Can you you find a ring in a lake »? Braeden asked. My answer was a resounding yes and we discussed the details of the search. I got all my gear ready and headed out to Deer Lake. After diving down to 20 feet I could see and fill a that i was in a thermocline . The water was an ice cold 32 degree  and viscis  . The visibility was ok until the silt got stirred up. Oh yeah and my waterproof metal detector started to flood with water. I however, didn’t find this out until I arrived home. I knew for a fact that my metal detector was the reason I didn’t find the ring. I did tell Christina and Braeden I would fill my tanks and be back the next weekend. So here we are the next weekend. I found myself suiting up to go diving again at Deer Lake. Christina and Braeden were there anxiously waiting. I had another waterproof metal detector with me this time a vibratector. So I knew I would be getting a lot of signals. After about a dozen nails later I transitioned to the left of my buoy and there in the silt was Christina’s ring. The amazement of seeing her ring was overwhelming.  I worked really hard to find that ring so it felt great to have it in my hand. I surfaced with the ring and told the couple man its clear down there, so clear I found your ring. Braeden had a huge smile on his face as I handed him the ring.  As I exited the water and packed up my gear, I got to talk to Braeden and Christina about their engagement and proposal. They both were very happy with lots of praise and thank you’s. I had a blast finding this ring thank you guys for trusting in the Ring Finders.
