Lost Diamond Wedding Ring Found by Emerald Isle Metal Detecting

Megan contacted me Tuesday afternoon in regards to her wedding ring she lost in the ocean surf Saturday afternoon.  She had stated that she happened to be searching the internet and found an add I placed on Craigslist for jewelry recovery.  A storm was in the area that afternoon/evening so we agreed to begin the search at dawn.  I began the search at dawn and was first unsucessful because of the strong waves.  I drove an hour back to my home and returned a couple of hours later to resume the search.  While covering the beach for hours, I walked around a group of 3 sand castles as I didn’t want to disturb someone’s creations.  I later came back to the sand castles and very carefully worked my detector around the 3 structures and got the tone I had been searching to find for hours.  The first carefully scooped out sand pile surrendered Megan’s ring!

Megan W. story:

« After helping my toddler with boogie boarding on the beach I noticed that my wedding ring was no longer on my finger. We searched the beach behind our vacation rental for three days with no luck. Then I found Steven Ray’s Ringfinder website. He came at first light the following day and after about four hours of searching and a second trip to the rental house he found it! »

Lost Engagement Ring near Bristol, WI 7/24/2016

  • from Trevor (Wisconsin, United States)

I was contacted today by a man and his fiancée.  They were traveling near a road when the ring fell off of her hand and landed in the grass somewhere near the road.  They felt they had a pretty good idea of where the ring had ended up and after about 30 minutes of searching, the ring was located about 20ft outside of their original search zone.

Ring lost at Mission Bay found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Alyssa was enjoying a day at the beach with her family, when she noticed that the ring she had put in her pocket was missing. She was pretty sure it happen out in the sand where her kids were playing after she had pulled her phone out of the same pocket. Alyssa’s sister told her about The Ring Finders and Alyssa contacted me. I hot footed it down there (actually just joined the rest of the maddening crowd inching our way to the beach!) and circled for another 1/2 hour before getting lucky on a parking space. After discussing the particulars on ring size, metal, search area, etc, I started a pass through the sand. My first target was a nice gold ring sound, but, turned out to be a partial pull tab. (not a big surprise in this area). The second target was the same sound and  I.D. number (12-09 on my E-trac), but, was her ring. A happy Alyssa and another satisfying return. Great to meet you and thank you for the reward. 100_1463 100_1462

Wedding band recovered at Macatawa Beach in Holland, Michigan

  • from Holland (Michigan, United States)

Got an e-mail from Sean stating he lost his wedding ring three days ago while swimming in waist deep water.  Gregg Larabel and I set out to Holland later that evening when the swimming crowd thins out to search for the ring.

Thanks to Sean’s accurate instructions, it took me only about thirty minutes to find his ring, and while we were looking for it Gregg found a big stainless steel ring -no ID inside the ring.  Sean was not at the beach with us, so today he and I met halfway between our homes to deliver the ring to him.  Sean’s whole family came, his wife and three little boys, and everybody was happy that Dad’s ring was back on his finger.

Knee deep surf and 2 scoops down was a class ring! It was recovered using my Excalibur II. After 20 minutes of Internet searching and 2 phone calls, the ring was set to be returned. Devon lost the ring in the high tide surf throwing seaweed at friends. 2 weeks later, I found the ring and happened to work 20 miles from Valley Forge Military Academy where Devon is working a summer camp and also graduated. The ring was returned! Devon said that he thought he would never see it again!

While Metal Detecting the lagoon for a Gold Wedding band I was approached by a gentleman named Joey Sparks who said his Brother-In-Law Brian from San Clemente, California lost his Platinum & Gold Wedding Band in chest deep water not too far from where I was hunting. I told him if I found it I’d track them down. Joey said they would be around the pool all day. I continued on my search. After about five minutes I got an air raid siren of a tone while I was in neck deep water. It was all I could do to stay in position to dig the target. After about the fourth dig I had the target in the scoop. As the scoop broke the surface of the water I could see Brian’s huge Platinum & Gold ring in the bottom. Great I went to the area Joey said they would be and no one was around. I continued my hunt and after about thirty minutes a man called me from the shore, « Are you Brian? » I asked. Yes, are you Joe and did you find my ring? Yes, and matter of fact I did. A look of relief came over Brian’s face and he told me he had looked for a very long time the day before. I let him know his ring was buried and no way he would have seen it. We shook hands and I knew another tourist was going home with a smile. Aloha to Brian and Joey for finding me.

Platinum Wedding Band Lost at Venice Beach, CA…Found and Joyfully Returned to Florida.

Back on July 15th Joanna sent me a text asking for my help. She and her family had been down at Venice Beach 5 days prior, where her husband had removed his ring to apply sunscreen and laid it in the grass where they were sitting. When they got back to the hotel where they were staying he realized the ring was gone. They called some of the places back on the beach to see if someone could go and find it for them, with no luck. I told Joanna, that in such a public place, with so much time having gone by, that the chances of finding the ring had diminished considerably. I asked her to call me so I could ask her about the loss, when she told me that she and the family had already gone back to their home in Florida. I asked if she could help me narrow down the search area, and she sent me pictures of the place, and where they were sitting when her husband removed the ring; I knew right where the area was, and told her I would go and search the next day.

When I arrived at the spot it turned out to be rather small with good grass growth, so I was a bit hopeful. I began my search, and found numerous items, but all too deep to have been the ring, so I just kept searching. I then received a good shallow signal, and used my pinpointer to verify the signal, and found the ring. Needless to say I was very excited, it was a big solid platinum ring, and I could see the engraving that Joanna had told me about. I took the attached picture, and sent it to Joanna, saying « You’ll never believe what was still there after 6 days. » She wrote « Oh my God », and « I’m shaking », and I answered that I know, I almost did a dance right there in front of everyone.

She had worked and saved her money to buy that ring for her future husband, so the meaning behind it was deep. I sent it off to her, and when she received it she sent me the attached picture of her and the ring. What she thought was lost forever, was now safely back in their family. I am so happy to have helped them out, and honored that she trusted me, someone she had never met to do this search for her. I was definitely blessed to receive a picture like this with a great and happy smile. Joanna posted the story on Facebook, and it went viral. Attached are some links to news features that have aired and articles that have been published regarding this recovery.

Platinum ring found waist deep in the Big Lake at Holland, Mich.

  • from Holland (Michigan, United States)

Hol2Hol1John called me at around 7:00PM tonight and by 8:15PM his ring was in my scoop.  He was playing with his kids in the water when he felt his ring fly off.  They were right by a buoy, and he was sure the ring had to be within 10ft of that.

After searching the right side of the buoy without luck I moved to the other side, and about 3ft away I got a good hit.  When I told John I had a good signal he came closer and was able to reach in the second scoopful and pull out his prize.  He gave me a big bear hug and almost broke my rib.

Another successful hunt-I really love this job!

« Thank you to the full moon and back, Jeffrey Laag! I had lost my wedding band, engagement ring, birthstone ring (a gift from the hubs after the birth of our second daughter), and a Celtic knot ring I’ve worn for years. Jeff was so very kind and efficient. And he found them after two days of being lost on the beach. Can’t thank you enough! I can now enjoy the rest of our vacation. »
