Lost Alabama Class Ring – FOUND!!!

One night last week I got a call from a very nice gentleman that needed some help. He had been out putting in pine straw and when he got done he noticed that his class ring wasn’t on his hand. This was really bad because he’d had this ring on his finger since 1968 when he graduated from the University of Alabama. He immediately told his wife and she put out the call for help. Someone eventually told her about what I do and gave her my phone number. When Mr. Spivey called he asked if I was the Ringmaster, I was tempted to say yes but I didn’t want to jinx myself. 😃 He was very nice and explained what happened and I told him how I thought I could help. We agreed that I would come early the next morning and I asked him to text me the address. He explained that he didn’t have all of that techy stuff and offered to give me the address and directions. I told him the address would be great but he very thoroughly proceeded to give me the directions. I was thrilled to hear someone describe exactly how to get to their home and go over each part of the route that they felt was important to describe the way to their home. I thought about how technology had changed a lot of that but I thoroughly enjoyed hearing him describe that route he had been so many times. 👍 When I got to the house in the morning I was met in the driveway by a pretty Lab. I was pretty sure that she was friendly but I gave a quick call to the number I had. Mrs. Spivey assured me that “Penny” was a sweetheart and I opened my door to lots of tail wagging and some curious sniffs. By that time, Mrs Spivey had come out and walked me out to the back so I could see all of the fresh pine straw. They weren’t 100% sure that it was in the yard but it seemed like the most logical place so I started my search. Mrs Spivey went back inside and instructed me to knock if I needed anything. I was using a small sharpshooter coil so I was able to go through everything and stick it down between all of the shrubs as well. As Murphy’s law would state, I was at the very last bush when I got a beautiful, very obvious gold tone. I pulled back the leaves and parted the fresh pine straw to see a gorgeous, well loved, solid gold ring with a Crimson stone on top. I thought for just a second about how much it had been a part of Mr. and Mrs Spivey’s lives and then I went to knock on the door. She came out and asked if I needed anything and finally noticed the ring when I pointed to it on my detector. As you can imagine, she was thrilled and even got a bit choked up when she talked about getting it back to her husband. I am so glad I got to make sure that it wasn’t the end of the journey for your family heirloom. Merry Christmas to you both.

Lost Wedding ring found in Kelowna Horse Arena

Natalie spent an hour riding her horse around the arena, when she got home she noticed that her white gold wedding ring was missing.

Her husband found The Ringfinders site and sent me an email, I responded the next day and met Natalie at 4pm when the classes for the day were finished.

I started gridding the arena, fortunately there was very little metal junk in the arena and with 30 minutes we had the ring back on her finger.

Lost Gold Ring Found In Royal Oak Michigan

Hang’Em High!

Unfortunately, this is not a story about lost jewelry or outlaw loot found for Marshal Jed Cooper played by Clint Eastwood, but rather begins in a quiet city outside Detroit when I received a call from Karen who said her son had lost his wedding band while hanging Christmas lights high up on the house to surprise his wife when she got home. Although she was thrilled to see them high up in place, the mood changed when she learned of the missing ring which he’s had for less than a month. When I arrived he was not sure where the ring could be as he was traversing the whole yard multi-tasking. It was a small yard so it didn’t take long to search the back and sides which revealed nothing. Searching the front of the house where he was hanging the lights also revealed nothing. As I started to search further out my MXT sounded off on a metal object. Close to the underground water line I thought it may have been the water shut off but the signal was much smaller. Brushing a leaf aside revealed this shiny gold ring that was slightly compressed into the ground inches away from the sidewalk and at least 15 feet from the house! Pausing for a moment I waved Karen over who thought I was taking a break as did her son who was out by the garage. I pointed down and a huge smile was on her face. She said how’d it get way out here? I was puzzled myself and when her son got to us and reached down to pick it up he said wow that’s weird, it must have come off and stepped on when I was stretching the lights out. Now that made more sense. All was thrilled that the mystery of the missing ring was unraveled and now things are really looking a lot like Christmas!

Lost Engagement Ring found in Hopedale MA

On November 10, 2020, I received an e-mail from Jimena about her lost engagement ring.  She and her fiance Ivan were raking leaves two days earlier, and at some point, she noticed that her engagement ring was missing. They knew the ring had to be either in their yard or where they had dumped leaves.  Jimena and Ivan even bought a metal detector but couldn’t find the ring. That’s when Jimena searched the internet for help and found me through The Ring Finders website.  The next day,  I searched several areas, including an area across the street from their home where they dumped leaves and their front and side yards, with no luck.  Before searching the backyard,  I decided to search a pile of yard waste located at the far end of their yard, where Jimena said she had thrown some of the leaves.  I got into the pile of sticks, grass, and leaves and started my search.  The second target I hit, buried in the leaves, was the beautiful engagement ring.  Jimena and Ivan were so happy to have the ring back before their wedding, which was the next month.  I’m glad that I was able to find the ring and wish them a long and happy marriage.

Lost Gold Ring Found In Warren Michigan

Widow’s Gold

Got a call from Patti who said she lost a ring doing the final yard cleanup when the snow started to come down this morning. She didn’t say what kind of ring it was or where it may be. Texting that I had arrived ahead of schedule I got no return text. I did a visual and noticed the front yard was very small and the back contained many metal yard ornaments and quite a few bags of leaves. I knocked on the door with no answer so I figured the best place to start would be the front yard and that it would be best to start before the weather got worse. The sound of crunchy, crusty snow sounded beneath each step and as it scraped under my coil I received many junk metal signals. Dialing up the discrimination silenced the chatter. Completing the left half of the yard revealed nothing. Starting the search on the right half of the yard under a very aromatic spruce tree I worked carefully not to miss any ground. Exiting the canopy I got a very nice signal of an object at 0 depth. Scraping my pin pointer thru the snow it vibrated at the same time this beautiful custom design gold ring came into view! I was confused as the ring resembled more of a man’s band. Still no response from her I took a couple of pics. As I started up the wheelchair ramp she appeared and I was just about to hold the ring up for her to see when she said thru the door she’d be with me in about 5 minutes. She didn’t know that I had already found a ring and when she did come out I ran towards her saying there’s no need to walk further down the slippery ramp and presented the ring to her! I asked if this was the ring and she said yes! Inquiring about the ring she said it was her late husband’s and she would wear it often and when performing the chores that he once did. She was very happy that the ring was found and mentioned that she really didn’t know where it came off and having it back enables her to still connect with him on many different levels for many more years to come.

Lost Gold Ring w/Opal and Diamonds Found In Dexter Michigan

Good Grief!

Lauren and her husband tied the knot last month. Enjoying the beautiful fall colors during an outside photo session her ring fell off. The ring was a very sentimental one that her late father gave her mom when Lauren was born, and now was being passed on to Lauren. There were multiple locations at the facility that they walked visiting the guests. Some terrain was cut grass and some was thick grass. She and mom were devastated and thought it may not be possible to find it. On site I set up my MXT and began a grid search. I got some similar signals to where I thought the ring would be on the meter, but the depth reading revealed these targets were well below the surface. Closing in on the area that covered the area in question I got a nice mellow signal within an inch or so deep and about 1 foot from the edge of the cut grass my pin pointer buzzed. Prying the thick grass apart revealed this very stunning gold ring with a fiery opal and diamonds twinkling in the sun! I was holding it up and with their backs turned to me they turned to see what was happening. They both came running and as she held the ring emotions were high. During the excitement an employee came out to present a nice bottle of champagne from their reception! A celebration was underway along with texting mom to share the great news! All was happy that closure was made and that dad’s legacy can continue for years to come!

Lost Ring Pinewood Lake Trumbull CT… Found!

Newlyweds Tyler and Chelsea enjoyed a day at Pinewood Lake in Trumbull, Connecticut, when disaster struck. Tyler’s wedding band slipped off his finger, and three weeks of sporting his bling were undone in three seconds. Tyler dove underwater and searched the muddy bottom with a mask, snorkel, and even some neighborhood recruits. Hours later, he realized the ring was lost to the lake.

Tyler found me online, and we set up a phone call to discuss the chances of finding his lost ring. Our biggest hurdle was the depth of the water where he was swimming. Tyler described his ability to touch the bottom with his toes, but his head was not sticking out of the water by much. I knew Tyler was taller than me, so this search would be on the edge of recoverability without using SCUBA gear. Tyler was confident of his location, and we had some dry weather, so it was worth a shot. I arrived and searched as deep as I could in the calm waters, but I never came across the gold ring. As we sat on the edge of the lake discussing the next step, some of the local property owners began talking about the lake being drained every four years. This meant there could be a chance of recovering the ring from the deeper waters, but we would potentially have to wait years for the lake drain to occur. Only a couple of days later, Tyler called me with good news. Draining was planned from the end of September through early November! We made a second appointment during late October to make sure the lake level would be low enough to make a difference in how far out I would be able to search. The conditions were perfect. The only water remaining in the whole section was a single channel running through the area’s center. I arrived and began my second search. I heard a faint squeak about fifty feet away from the area I was searching during the summer. The signal came from the channel, but I immediately thought there is no way this ring fell in the worst possible place. The chances were much better of the ring settling on a nice flat, shallow surface, but I was wrong! I smeared a scoop of channel mud across the ground and saw the outline of a gold ring. I tried to surprise Tyler with the ring, but I think he was on to my shenanigans. Or he is good at containing his emotional reactions because when I showed the ring, he calmly said, “that is it.” I didn’t give up on the surprise. I convinced him to surprise Chelsea. Lost Rose Gold Ring with Diamonds Found in Garden City Michigan

Tina, her fiance’ and friends were enjoying some time together in the yard. As the sun began to set they decided to continue around a nice warm bonfire. Scurrying around lighting logs, setting chairs, and gathering food and beverages to enjoy around the fire, the logs finally began to glow. Settling into the warmth, sounds of a strumming guitar and singing voices filled the night air. When the morning came around she noticed her engagement ring was missing. Thoughts quickly turned to where it may be…..the log pile or the fire pit? A quick check there and in the cool ashes revealed nothing. Raking thru the leaves revealed nothing and buying a toy type metal detector only led to more worry and frustration. On site her and I went over the details where she was in the yard. As I was setting up the manual ground balance on my MXT metal detector I noticed there was so much junk metal items I switched to one of the turn on and go modes available on the MXT and quickly started to grid search. Seeing a picture of the ring I knew the approximate range on the meter where the ring should be. As my detector coil flew over the colorful leaves, ignoring the junk signals, a nice signal came thru at 24/26 and 0 depth. Pushing the leaves aside this beautiful custom design rose gold ring with a spectacular diamonds setting revealed itself quite a few feet from where she was sitting and where her fiance’ had raked the leaves! I waved her over and pointing down, her eyes got as wide as her smile as she picked the ring from the leaves. Totally elated and speechless she finally caught her breath and said I’m so thrilled and thankful you found it! I’m so glad we contacted you! I’m gonna have a nice surprise for him when he get’s home!

Lost White Gold Ring Found In Canton Michigan

Bagged It!

This nice gentleman was out raking and bagging leaves in the balmy temperatures yesterday when his ring came off. Borrowing a toy type detector he searched the small area of grass where he thought it was to no avail. On site it was indeed a small area. Setting up my MXT metal detector and scanning only took about 3 minutes and along with checking the mulch beds produced no ring. I asked how many bags of leaves did he fill, he said two and most came from the backyard. Scanning all the sides of each bag the detector whispered the ring is in this one. I said it’s in this bag, he said we searched the bags and didn’t find anything. As I tipped the bag to start emptying it I heard the lovely tone of a gold ring on concrete! He reached down in amazement, picked up his ring and holding it up he said I bagged it! I said yes lol I’m glad you bagged it and my detector and I are happy to have bagged it too!

Gold Cross Lost in Storm, Then Found

This gold cross was lost in Bradley Beach during the tropical storm last week.

While swimming in the ocean recently off Bradley Beach, 15-year-old Nicky Schneider lost his grandmother’s chain and crucifix.

Nicky and his mother Terri were devastated. Terri’s father bought the chain while on a trip to Europe for Nicky’s grandmother, who died four years ago.

The next day, Tropical Storm Isaias hit.

“I decided to post the missing chain on the Bradley Beach Facebook page figuring it was a long shot, especially now that this crazy storm had come through,” said Terri’s friend AnnMarie Neary Bergwall of New York and Spring Lake.

Six days later, Bradley Beach resident Jane DeNoble was on the beach and spotted someone with a metal detector. DeNoble later learned it was Rich Hageney of Doylestown, Pa., a sales representative for Medtronic and a member of theringfinders.com, a group of independent metal detecting specialists.

“I have been metal detecting since I was 10 years old,” Hageney said. “Having returned countless treasures over the years, I have found returning these items as thrilling as finding them.”

“Jane went over to him and half jokingly asked if by chance he had found anything,” Bergwall said. “She then told him to go look on Fifth Avenue because someone lost a gold chain and crucifix six days ago.

Rich proceeded to go down two avenues to look. Within 10 minutes, he located a gold chain and crucifix under the wet sand.”

“I saw a man with a metal detector and mentioned it to him and to keep his eyes peeled,” DeNoble said. “And seriously, less than 10 minutes later, he’s back with it in his hand.”

DeNoble sent Bergwall a message through Facebook.

“I called Nicky’s mom, Terri, to tell her that there was a possibility that her mother’s chain was found,” Bergwall said. “I put Terri and Jane in touch with each other. They wanted to see a picture of the chain and crucifix before showing it to Terri to be sure it was hers. Terri could not find one, but swore if it was not the right one she would not say it was. Jane and Rich then sent a picture of the chain and crucifix for Terri to look at. She burst into tears because it was her mother’s crucifix.”

Bergwall drove to Bradley Beach with Terri and Nick from Spring Lake, where the Morristown residents had been staying.

“We jumped in the car to go meet these selfless and kind people to pick up the chain,” Bergwall said. “Our faith is restored. There are great people out there.”

“You can imagine how [Nick] felt when he lost it,” DeNoble said. “It’s amazing how the necklace survived the storm. People were watching us as she was overwhelmed with happiness. I’m just so happy to be a small part of the miracle that happened that day.”
