Lost Gold Wedding Band at Obama’s Beach Waimanalo…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I was texted that a ladies cousin lost his wedding band on the beach.  I sent my phone number and Alan from Chicago, Illinois reached out yesterday and told me that he lost the gold wedding band when he was playing with his cousins in shallow water at Obama’s Beach in Waimanalo.  He wasn’t sure when it came off but he had remained in a confined area.  With the hurricane approaching and Alan leaving the next day back to Chicago I agreed to meet him early this morning for the hunt.  The area is protected by a coral rock breakwater so after Alan drew the extreme grid lines in the sand I started my search in the calm lagoon.  I detected some lead fishing weights and some copper bullet jackets so figured the ring would still be here.  On the second leg of the grid solid 17-18 on the Nox and on the second scoop there was Alan’s Gold Wedding Band in the scoop.  Alan was obviously ecstatic as I called to him on the shore that I had found his wedding band.  Vacation saved!  Alan returning to Chicago with Wedding Band back on his finger.  Aloha to Alan and his family!

Lost Rose Gold Wedding Band in Aulani Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when Taryn from Hawaii Kai reached out and told me her husband Jeremy had lost his Rose Gold Wedding Band in shallow water at Aulani’s Lagoon.  He had been brushing the sand off his leg when the ring fell off in shallow water.  I had nothing going on so I told Taryn I’d grab my gear and head down.  She told me they had already left after searching for at least an hour and were heading back to Hawaii Kai.  We discussed the details to the lost location and I told her I would call after the hunt.  Thankfully,  when I arrived the area was clear of beachgoers and I was able to start my grid search in earnest.  I had detected this area the day before and it was sterile.  Then about 20 minutes into the hunt « Boom! »  15-17 on the Nox and I knew it was the ring.  However the thinness of the ring allowed the sand to push it away from my scoop at least six times.  Finally, I had the target in the scoop and it was indeed Jeremy’s  ring.  I rinsed off and went back to my car and texted a pic of the ring asking, « This one? »  Response was « YES!!! »  We agreed to meet at the Jack Lord Bust at Kahala Mall for the return.  Smiles all around.  Aloha to Taryn & Jeremy!

Lost Gold & Diamonds Wedding Ring at Lanikai Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when Nikki from Aiea, Hawaii reached out to me on the Metal Detecting Oahu Facebook page.  I posted my number and she called immediately.  While at Lanikai Beach with her children she had taken off her Engagement and Wedding rings and put them in a puka of her beach chair.  After returning home she realized she had left the rings in the chair and when she went out to retrieve them the Wedding Ring was gone.  She looked everywhere she could think of with no luck.  Her only conclusion is it must have fallen out at the beach when she folded the chair.  We decided to meet at the beach to ensure I hunted the exact spot in the dry sand.  We had a little difficulty parking but finally were able to start the hunt.  I started an East-West grid search and after covering the area thoroughly I only found a piece of aluminum.  Nikki was sure we were in the correct spot so on a whim I adjusted to a North-South grid search.  Boom!  A sudden 9/10 on the Nox and after four scoops Nikki’s beautiful Gold & Diamonds ring was in the scoop.  I walked over and pointed in the scoop.  She shouted with joy and it was all she could do to hold back the tears.  We hugged and I noticed her Pittsburgh Steelers keychain.  Turns out although she is from Michigan she is a staunch Steelers fan.  Soo happy we had a successful hunt.  Remember boys & girls the 90 degree adjustment in the grid search made for a successful recovery.  This has happened a few times especially in Waikiki sand.  Aloha to Nikki!

Lost Tungsten Wedding Band at Nai’a Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began on Thursday when I got a call from Elijah who is a United States Marine stationed on Okinawa and was on vacation in Hawaii to attend his brother’s wedding.  While playing volleyball with his Father in the dry sand of Nai’a Lagoon, Elijah’s Tungsten Wedding Band flew off and disappeared into the sand.  I was able to do a search on Friday but the Wedding Band didn’t show itself.  On Saturday morning I expanded the grid in every direction and finally found the band two grid lines further to the North.  I called Elijah with the great news and we met this AM at Ko Olina for the return.  Vacation is saved!  Aloha to Elijah!

Lost Koa Inlaid Wedding Band at Queen’s Hospital West…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began last night when I got a call from Doctor Javier.  He was sitting in the Hospital’s Garden Break area talking to his wife on his cellphone and tossing his ring back and forth between his hands.  Suddenly, one of the tosses was too strong and he thought he saw the ring travel to his left and disappear into the grass.  After a futile search he reached out to theringfinders and found me.  I agreed to meet him after work the next day to hunt for his ring.  Doctor Javier was waiting outside when I arrived and the break area was just a short walk from where I parked.  He described on location how the ring went missing and I started my search.  I could see some some sprinkler heads so there was going to be some target interference.  I decided to only pinpoint surface targets on the Nox as their were quite a few deeper targets coming thru.  After a thorough search of the area and no ring found I told Javier some piece of information is missing but since its a small area I was going to expand the grid to cover it all.  As I was going behind the tree I got a surface target tone and looked down.  Leaning against the tree’s trunk was Javier’s ring.  How in the world did it get back there when it should have been to Javier’s left side.  Looking at the chair our only answer was the ring had to of rolled down the back leg and behind the tree.  See the other chair for reference.  Acrobatic Tungsten ring!  All that matters is we had a successful recovery.  Aloha to Doctor Javier!

Lost Golden Tungsten Wedding Band at Aulani Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began on Sunday May 14, 2023 in the afternoon when I received a text from Miranda from Wisconsin and was on her honeymoon staying at the Aulani, Ko Olina Resort. She texted that her husband Tyler was in shallow waist deep water and his Wedding Band came off and can’t be found.  She said they would be leaving the next day.  Thinking this would be a quick easy find, I grabbed my gear and headed to the resort.  Miranda & Tyler met me on the beach and showed me the extreme edges of the grid I would hunt.  After about 30 minutes I completed the grid search and expanded in all directions without any luck.  After talking to them, I said I’d do a scuba search in deeper water when I returned from a business conference in Jacksonville Florida.  While I was gone I got a shallow water request at 4 Seasons Ko Olina for an engagement & wedding band so I asked my trusty back up Kai if he would hunt that while I was away.  That was followed by another request more left then the previous request for a platinum band.  In addition to Kai’s successful recovery of those two requests he stumbled across a golden tungsten during the search.  When I returned and Kai gave me the ring I noticed the exact matching initials & date in the pic Miranda had texted me of their ring.  I immediately texted them the great news and you can see they joyously got the ring today and sent me the « Shaka ».  Huge Mahalo to Kai and a Wonderful Aloha to Miranda & Tyler.

Lost Gold Ruby & Diamond Eyed Skull Ring at Kuhio Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Suemi who was on vacation in Waikiki from San Francisco California.  While her husband Mauricio was playing volleyball in the water at Kuhio Beach he spiked the ball and his most favorite Gold Skull Ring went flying off into chest deep water.  I just finished doing my yard work and told Suemi I would pack up my gear and head down to Waikiki and call her once I was parked.  Thankfully, parking and traffic was light.  When I arrived we talked by phone and Suemi guided me to her location on the beach.  She pointed in the water where Mauricio had been standing for 2 long hours since he lost the ring.  I briefly explained to Mauricio that I was going to do a grid search and to just remain where he was.  He pointed directly in front of himself saying that was the direction he spiked the ball.  The second leg of the grid was directly into that area and I got an immediate hit on the Nox.  In one scoop there was the most stunning ring I’d ever seen.  24+ grams of gold and one ruby and one diamond eye.  If you look close the skull is puffing on a stogie! The ring must have meant a ton to Mauricio as the entire family started celebrating with him and cheers ran up from the tourists on the beach.  What a wonderful family enjoying their last day in paradise.  Aloha to Mauricio, Suemi and the family!

Lost Rose Gold and Diamonds Engagement & Wedding Rings at Waimanalo Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began Sunday when I received an email from Zuleyma saying, « We decided to play volleyball in the dry sand yesterday and when I hit the ball up my ring went flying in the air and I didn’t notice until it quite literally left my finger and we tried to search the area but none of us had any luck.  Also ironically I was recording us play while it all happened so if I zoom in I can see my rings flying up in the air high, but cannot quite see where they landed. » I responded,  call me immediately as I wanted to hunt ASAP knowing she posted on Stolen Stuff Hawaii and informed the Lifeguard.  Oh no!  The entire metal detecting community is going to be there.  We decided to meet at my home and take one car to Waimanalo Beach not knowing what parking would be like on such a beautiful Hawaiian Sunday.  When we arrived the place was busy but we had no problem parking.  Zuleyma’s husband Jan helped review the video to determine the search area.  To my surprise the beach was really clean until I got closer to the tree line which was choke full of metal undesirables.  With no luck in the first grid we moved North.  After no luck there I reviewed the video myself and we all agreed we were in the correct location and all the trees in the video lined up.  I moved closer to the tree line as it appeared the ring may have traveled more in that direction.  No luck again.  After an hour this was getting frustrating especially for Zuleyma who was about to call it a lost cause.  Time to break out of the box.  Since we had the North South location confirmed by simply watching the video of the flying rings I told Jan and Zuleyma to give me just a little more time going East and West through the grid and to expand out just a bit further towards the water.  Also as you know sometimes the aspect of the target can hide one direction and pop on the other.  I could see the hopelessness in their faces so I was praying this would work.  As I started toward the water I went much farther past where the ring should be then did a 180 to head back the other way.  Boom!  Super loud unmistakable sound on the Nox.  One scoop and there is the Rose Gold and Diamonds Wedding Band in the scoop.  Wait, what?  I’m completely out of the grid and probably even past where the phone was recording the volleyball game.  Zuleyma couldn’t believe it and came running over with tears in her eyes.  The beach goers were hooting and clapping knowing how long we had been hunting.  We hugged and I said, « Let’s get the Engagement Ring.  Thankfully, only a foot away the next Boom on the Nox and one scoop later.  Mission complete!  Elapsed time 1.5 hours in the hot dry sand.  The only thing we could figure is the ring although appearing in the video of going straight up and down in fact went up and straight towards the camera if not flying over it as we lost track of them in the video on the down fall.  You never know for sure until you find the ring.  Much Aloha to Zuleyma & Jan.

Lost Tungsten Wedding Band at Malaekahana Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find came in on Thursday when Margo found me through the ring finders site and texted if I could find  her husband Donovan’s tungsten ring at a beach campsite.  I assured her I could and we agreed to meet early Friday morning when the campsite opens so she could show me the area.  Margo took me to the site and showed me the area around the shrubbery.  She explained Donovan was wiping the sand off his hand onto his pants when his ring flung off into the shallow grass, sand and shrub area.  I turned on the Nox and the first target boomed.  I looked down and there smashed into the sand was a round object and when I picked it up it was a gray tungsten ring.  I showed Margo the ring and to her delight she thanked me for finding it so quickly.  Elapsed time to target 20 seconds.  I actually made it to work an hour earlier then I projected.  Aloha to Donovan & Margo!

#300 Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Waikiki Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This #300 ring find began when I got a call from Drew visiting from New Zealand and attending his Brother’s wedding on Oahu.  He decided to spend a day at Waikiki Beach with his wife and baby.  Drew decided to take the baby into the calm waters of the lagoon and somewhere during their water adventure his Platinum Wedding Band went missing.  Thankfully he remained in a relatively small area.  After his wife noticed his wedding ring missing, Drew Googled « Metal Detector Waikiki » and that’s how he reached out to me.  We agreed to meet at the Honolulu Zoo and he would walk me down to the area he figured the ring would be.  Since he had a New Zealand phone number I told him to call me in about 15 minutes and I should be parked nearby.  I’ve been unable to return some calls to foreign numbers so I ask them to keep checking with me until we hook up.  He told me he was wearing a bright orange shirt and I spotted him rather quickly.  We walked down to the beach and Drew drew two lines in the sand for me to use as grid marks.  I started the hunt and it was sterile.  Then on the fourth leg I got a booming #16 on the Nox and it actually took 5 scoops as the ring kept moving away.  As I looked in the scoop I saw the two grooves in the ring Drew had described so I was able to shout over to him, « We got it! »  Drew was obviously relieved to be out of the dog house with his wife and could fly home tomorrow with his wedding ring on his finger.  Aloha to Drew and his family!
