I got a text from Scarlett telling me that she had been out the night before at the beach, and lost her phone in the sand. After getting back to her car she realized the phone was missing, and she and her friend went immediately back to look in the darkness, but it was gone. Knowing that beach is cleaned daily by county machines, I had to ask if she had a find my phone app, which she did, and it was showing that it was still there. So we made arrangements to get there as soon as possible to ensure we were able to find it before someone else did.

We met up as soon as I got to the beach. Scarlett had sent me a screen shot of the phone on the beach, a two dimensional picture her app was showing, so I needed her to pinpoint where they had been that night. She gave boundaries to ensure I covered all the possibilities. I searched for a little over an hour covering the whole area, finding a lot of trash metal, but no phone. It was then I asked her to show me on her tablet the screen again, the phone was still showing. Then I asked if she could get a satellite image with the same information. It took a few minutes, and then she was able to get the satellite image. It was then we could see that it was at the lifeguard tower. She then went over and asked the lifeguard, and yes, he had it. Someone had found it and turned it in. Sometimes searches take unique twists, and this was one of them. She was very happy to have her phone back.
