Less Stress…..

….is what Dawn was hoping for as she revealed that last summer her son and husband Wayne decided to wrestle around in the dark. Afterwards Wayne noticed his rings missing. They searched with various methods but got nothing for their effort. When Wayne suddenly passed away recently, their son asked Dawn if dad had ever found his rings. In the backyard they showed me what they remember happening that evening. Starting a grid search I was just about ready to widen the search area when my MXT metal detector revealed 2 items not too far from each other. Pinpointing closer revealed Wayne’s rings tucked away in the grass! I texted Dawn and son to come out back. They each reached down and pulled up a ring, looking to me and the sky, they said thank you for giving us 2 things to stress less about!

Pinky Gold….

….Got a call from Steve, he told me he thought his ring came off last autumn while putting the summer tools and machines away. We went over the 3 location he remembered being. Starting with the middle location my MXT metal detector didn’t register anything. Choosing the north location, I got a nice signal in a pile of leaves. Pinpointing the location revealed Steve’s pinky ring hiding below! I knocked on the door and asked him to follow me. A look of surprise appeared as he gazed upon his ring! His wife came to see and a pinky swear between the 2 sealed the deal that the ring will stay on….hopefully!

Lost Silver Chain, 2 Lost Gold Rings Found in House by Dowsing in Detroit Michigan

Happy Valentines Day!..

I got a call from Derrick’s mom saying that she went and got some jewelry out of lay away that Derrick bought for himself. She wanted to surprise him. So, about a week ago she got it home and misplaced it somewhere. Meeting today Derrick thought I was searching for his mom’s lost jewelry. Mom had to go to work for a bit but recalled the jewelry was in a certain room in the house, so I started there. I chose to bait my dowsing antenna rod with silver as the chain was the most massive of the targets sought. I swept the rod left to right and right to left. The antenna locked in a certain direction in the room. Stepping a few feet over to triangulate, the rod locked again so we had a narrower area to look. Using my pin pointer metal detector, I passed it thru and around some items where the antenna rod pointed. It wasn’t long before the metal detector buzzed that something was nearby. As I reach into the clutter I’ll call it, I felt a small envelope that was heavy when I pulled it out, Derrick was thrilled but didn’t open it. I was not sure all the items were in the one envelope, so I searched again with the pin pointer and got another signal not far from the first. Reaching in again I pulled out another small envelope. I thought that this was the lost jewelry envelopes so I said to Derrick that maybe he should open them. Opening the heavy one he about fainted when he saw that it was his silver chain. Opening the second envelope revealed his 2 gold rings with a note that read: To Derrick with love, from mom!

Frosted!!……..

Is how newly engaged Jade felt after falling down in the snow in the front yard. After changing clothes, she noticed her ring missing. Now dark out she tried shoveling and using a flashlight to find the ring but had no luck. The next day I began a grid search with my MXT metal detector. Detecting thru the piles of shoveled snow provided no signal. Detecting along the path to the house I got a great signal. Pinpointing down over a highly compressed patch of snow, as I slowly scraped it away, I caught the sparkle of diamonds shining thru a thin veil of frost! As I was getting the ring free from the snow, I waved Jade to come over. Looking down all she saw was a chunk of snow. I wasn’t until she picked it up that the cold mass started to thaw. When the snow defrosted and the ring appeared, she went into diamond overload as we both were dazzled with the reflections of elegance the ring processed. Yes, Jade loves her diamonds and is beyond happy that even snow can’t dull the sparkle.

The Only Ice that Kept Her Warm…..

suddenly turned Brianna cold when her ring went missing somewhere between where her car was parked and her grandma’s apartment. After spending some time with family, Brianna ran briskly from the apartment to her vehicle. Grasping the steering wheel and pulling away from the curb she felt something missing. When I got there, I was able to search all the area where the vehicle was parked with no luck. Starting towards the apartment I got a great signal and pinpointing down thru 6 inches of snow revealed her ring with one on the most sparkling and gorgeous diamond settings I have seen. Putting it back on her finger suddenly warmed her up again, and with grandma giving the thumbs up from the apartment window melted away any doubt of the recovery.

Groundhog Gold…..

Being holed up in the current Michigan deepfreeze, Mohammad and his wife decided to run a few errands. Upon arriving home, a friendly snowball fight ensued that left her ring missing. Agreeing to meet on Monday to search, after arriving I set up my MXT metal detector and began a grid search. In just a few minutes I got a great signal with the detector. 6 inches of snow cover was hiding the ring! Amazingly in one of the pictures, the beautiful ring’s shadow appeared. Coincidentally a certain groundhog saw his as well. Can we put faith in a rodent to predict when spring will arrive?  Or does seeing the ring’s shadow predict the next 6 weeks and beyond will be warm and comforting for Mohammad and his wife…..

Frosty Dog Fred….

Loves the snow, so just the other night Derek let him out in the yard to do dog stuff. Well, more time passed as usual, so Derek looked out and didn’t see Fred. Derek went out and found Fred hiding out in about a foot of snow. Reaching for him thinking something was wrong Fred bolted off and started to zigzag thru more snow. By time Derek got him back inside he noticed his ring missing. With my MXT metal detector I started a simple grid search thru the deep snow and got a great signal. Pinpointing down thru the snow revealed Derek’s ring partially frozen to the top of the grass. Carefully removing it I placed it in Derek’s hand to thaw. Excited to have his ring back he decided next time to handle things differently with frosty dog Fred….should he decide to play opossum again!

As the Midnite Ice…

lay hiding beneath the snowdrifts, Jenny and her friend Lance had no idea about what was going to happen as they ran thru the park after enjoying some refreshments at a local business. As each of them formed snowballs, Jenny threw first and while doing so slipped on that hidden ice and fell into a snowdrift. As Lance pulled her up, by time they got to the car, she noticed her ring missing. The ring is a family heirloom from her grandmother. Being past midnite, they called me when it was daylight and we agreed to meet. I fired up my icebreaker MXT metal detector and started a grid search from where Jenny started to run and where she fell down. It wasn’t long before the MXT signaled on a non-ferrous metal item thru the snow. Brushing the snow away with my pin pointer metal detector and a few inches into the snowdrift revealed Jenny’s ring! Handing the ring to Jenny produced smiles on both their faces that would have melted that ice had they stayed longer, but they didn’t! Now Jenny’s glad she’s not on slippery ground anymore…or on thin ice with her grandmother!

The Tip of the Iceberg……

Presented itself when a more than predicted snowfall drop Wednesday afternoon in southeast Michigan took everyone by surprise, especially newly married Jacob and his wife. While dodging sleet as they walked into the shopping mall Jacob tripped and fell onto the snow. As his wife helped him back on his feet, she dusted him off but after they got into the store, she noticed her ring was missing. They put on ice what they came for and rushed back outside to the snow-covered area of the fall. The sound of snowplow blades on the pavement had them frozen in fear but Jacob had ice in his veins and tried to find the ring by moving some snow around, but that cut no ice. Jake called his dad to take his wife home, and I asked Jacob on the phone if he could remain there and try to keep the plows at bay until I arrived. That seemed to work, as the area was unscraped when I started to search with my MXT metal detector. Scanning over the small piles of snow a familiar signal came thru and moving the veil of snow above the signal revealed what was really hiding beneath the tip of the iceberg…..the missing ring! Overwhelmed with excitement from getting beyond the surface of the lost ring, Jacob feels this is the beginning of a great year and many more for him and his wife, and that’s the icing on the cake!

Decking his halls with ornaments bright

Steve lost his gold ring in the snow one night

I drove many miles arrived with bells on

Santa came early to search the lawn

Over cold ground like old prophesy

I presented a gift of gold like the Magi

Steve’s face lit up like a Christmas tree

Christmas had come early bringing untold glee
