Lost Gold Ring Underwater Found in Devils Lake Manitou Beach Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

In The Shadows of The Seaweed, beneath the Devils deep blue water legend has it that a Native American Chief aptly gave the lake its name after his princess daughter mysteriously disappeared on the foggy lake never to be found. Fast forward a few weeks ago when Doug’s wedding ring fell off while taking apart a metal deck. His mind wondered if his ring would have the same fate….never to be found. As we headed into the water today, the scent of hickory wood burning and the view of the trees ablaze with fall color reminded me of my childhood autumn camping expeditions. Starting a grid search in shallow water, we worked our way towards the end of where the deck was. At about 4 feet water depth, as I started to sink in the muck, I got a good metal signal. Pushing the sand scoop in I pulled up a scoop full of sand and muck. Swishing it away in the water I heard the sound of something clinking around. Peering into the scoop revealed Doug’s ring! He said that’s it! Back on shore he was thrilled beyond belief that his ring was found, and relieved that it wasn’t 6 feet under! As regards the other disappearances on Devils Lake….for now they remain unexplained.
