Lost Engagement Ring in Richmond, Texas (found) by John Volek
10/23/2015
I was contacted by Jasmine regarding her lost engagement ring, she said her ring had been lost in front lawn at her home. Jasmine said she was getting married in two weeks, and was desperate and needed help finding her ring.
Jasmine advised her engagement ring had accidentally been dropped out the second floor window of her residence. Jasmine said her fiancé Anthony had been shaken out a dirty towel from the second story window unaware that her new engagement ring was in the towel.
Jasmine said she and Anthony had searched the lawn on their hand and knees but could not find her lost ring. Anthony said the following day he purchased a metal detector at Academy, but being unfamiliar with it’s operation he was again unsuccessful at finding the lost ring.
Jasmine said the next day she found The Ring Finders on the internet and placed the call!
10/24/2015
I made the short trip over to Anthony and Jasmine’s residence this afternoon and was given a first hand account of how the ring was lost. The search area was relatively small and the recovery was quite quick. The smiles tell the story!

Lost Texas A&M Ring at Crystal Beach, Texas (Found)
10-12-2015
I received the following e-mail today:
My wife lost her Aggie ring today about 7pm in about four to five feet of water today about thirty or so yards from the beach. I have no idea if it’s even feasible to look in the surf like that but I figured I would try. We are staying at 1109 Blue Water in Crystal Beach. If you are willing to look please let me know. Thank you for your time.
Zachary
I have worked Crystal Beach before knowing it is located on the Bolivar Peninsula, just east of Galveston, and only accessible from the west by ferry boat. The ferry boat during the peak season can be a nightmare one often has to wait in line for hours to get to the other side. I was glad we were in the off-season.
I called Zachary back and he explained how his wife Paula had lost her Texas A&M Graduate Ring in the Surf on Crystal Beach. Zachary said he had a very good idea of where the ring had landed in the water. Zachary said he had made some marking on the sand to maintain the drop location in the water. In short, great job Zachary, this was the main factor in the recovery.
Zachary sent a few pictures of the beach and sand markings illustrating the ring drop zone in the water. Zachary and I made plans to meet early the next morning on Crystal Beach to search for the ring.
Back to the ferry boat discussion, cost me an hour each way, with little or no traffic, not sure what the ferry boat guys are up to?
I pulled onto the beach with the provided instructions and knew I was in the right spot. I immediately saw a large tent shade with the Texas A&M logo printed on the roof. Zachary and Paula quickly laid out the ground work, and we set out to find her lost ring.
The beach at Bolivar Peninsula took the brunt of Hurricane IKE, and restoration-rebuilding was evident with several nice new homes at the shoreline.
Zachary walked out into the water and set the perimeter for where we needed to conduct the search. I worked the grid east to west, pulling up a few deep targets, just didn’t want to make a mistake and miss the ring. I reset my search and started working north to south and hit the ring on the second pass.

Lost Ring in Water Canal La Marque, Texas (Recovered)
I was contacted by Paul last week regarding a very special ring that he had lost in the canal behind his home in La Marque, Texas. Paul said while working on some underwater fishing lights in the canal behind his house the ring had slipped of his finger and disappeared into the dark waters. Paul told me the ring had belonged to his father, and it was one of his most prized possessions.
Paul provided me great detailed information on the site, sending photographs and finding the answers to all relevant questions regarding the search and site.
Paul and his wife were extraordinary, and I consider them to be good friends and look forward to seeing them again in the future.
Paul, Thanks for everything.
The attached video details the search and events better than I can put into words.

I was contacted by Kiptyn today regarding his wife’s lost wedding rings in their neighbors backyard. Kiptyn said while participating in some outdoor activities yesterday his wife had lost her rings. Kiptyn said his neighbors lawn service was at their house preparing to mow the lawn. Kiptyn asked how quickly I could get to his location to search for the lost rings.
My schedule was open, so I immediately headed to his residence. Upon arrival, Kiptyn introduced me to his neighbors and the search commenced.
The area in question was searched extensively but yielded no results. This was another example of needing to extend the search area, and in doing so, Kiptyn’s smile tells the rest.

Lost Diamond Earring in the grass League City, Texas (Found)
I was contact by Ashley yesterday regarding her daughters lost earring at a residence in League City, Texas. Ashley said her daughter had finishing swimming lessons yesterday and was in the process of getting into dry clothes when her earring was snagged and pulled from her ear.
Ashley said they were pretty sure it landed in the grass where her daughter had been changing clothes. Ashley said her husband had found the earring backing in the street next to where they had been changing clothes. Ashley said the earring were very important to her, they had been purchased in Aruba for her daughter by her father. Ashley said they had spend several hours searching on their hands and knees for the lost earring in the grass.
Ashley said she found a friend on Facebook, who’s daughter had lost an earring and it had been found by a member of « The Ring Finders » You guessed right, I was that person, and Ashley placed the call. I told Ashley small earring can be an extremely difficult to locate and several variables could have an effect on a positive outcome.
Ashley and I both agreed it was worth a shot. We met today to search for the missing earring. Unfortunate as it is, I had a great GoPro video of this recovery, several special moments like Ashley’s daughter telling me I better find her missing earring, because her grandfather bought those for her. I some how again, jumped the GoPro camera into picture mode, and didn’t record a darn thing, sorry Ashley!
I am working a solution for this issue, hopefully this will be the last time « that Kodak moments are lost »
Additional notes, my most sensitive handheld pin-pointer the TRX was just barely able to recognize this very small earring.
Ashley directed me to the area needing to be searched, I used the AT Gold with the small super sniper coil and ran a test on the other matched earring. The AT Gold picked up the matched earring with a nice soft tone and a pretty consistent signal in the upper 50’s. I was marking off several negative finds, using small orange stakes to by-pass the previously searched targets. None of them up to that point had that nice soft tone I was listening for.
A few feet outside of the search area, I heard a nice soft tone, and consistent numbers with that of the matched earring. I looked down and saw a slight glimmer of something shiny down in the grass « BINGO », one happy mom an daughter.

Lost Wedding Ring off the Jetties in Sea Wolf Park Galveston, Texas (Found)
I was contacted by Ray on Monday regarding his lost wedding ring at Sea Wolf Park in Galveston, Texas. Ray reported while fishing off the jetties on Sunday, his ring had slipped off his finger and landed out in the rock jetties. Ray said he saw the ring hit one of the large rocks in the water and bounce landing a few feet further out into the channel.
Ray said he had probed the bottom the best he could with his fishing rod thinking he felt a sandy bottom at 7 ‘ of water. I was hopeful based on the information Ray was able to provide, and his detailed information on the approximate location.
I was already geared up for a trip to Canyon Lake the following morning, so Ray and I agreed to meet first thing Tuesday morning at the park.
I met Ray and his wife Michelle at Sea Wolf Park Tuesdays morning and we walked through the events leading of how the ring was lost. The jetties are an unforgiving environment, and trying to find a ring in those large boulders underwater did not looking very promising.
It was pretty clear from the onset, if his ring did not land on a flat surface underwater it was gone forever. The only way to know for sure was to enter the water and see what was below. The Excalibur proved to be ineffective in this environment, large jagged rocks, drop off’s to 20+ feet in some areas, fishing poles, cast nets, fishing line, sinkers, pipes, and host of other metallic objects. After about 30 minutes of trying to run the detector, I surfaced and handed the detector to Ray, indicating this in not good.
There was about 9″ of visibility on this day in the channel and the search came down to a visual hunt for the missing ring, The processes involved sticking your head into the underwater crevices and looking for the missing ring.
I looked and looked, seeing voids in the rocks everywhere that led to unknown depths and dangers. There were many places I was not willing to stick my hand much less my face. After what may have been another 30 minutes, I had already lost track of time, I began to think, and maybe already knew, this was an impossible task.
I was preparing to surface and explain to Ray, his ring is gone. I stopped prior to surfacing and took one more look around the marker pole we had place into the water. This was an area I had detected and visually examined numerous times, I looked to my left through some of the many rock and boulders, and their it was. I was looking through the center of the ring (like a tube), as it was sitting stuck between a couple of large rocks. The trick was going to be, to get the ring out, without letting it fall into one of the many crevices between the rocks.
I did get the ring, and sat their underwater for a few minutes thinking to myself, this is just utterly unbelievable. I surfaced a few minutes later and held up Rays missing ring.
I told Ray, I was on my way back to the surface to let him know its simply impossible. It was at that moment when I came upon his ring. I told Ray it’s a Miracle, with 9″s of visibility and in 7’ of water where most people would not never venture, with all the rocks, boulders and debris, I was able to find it?
In closing,
Michelle told me a little later that just prior to me finding the ring, she had done a social media prayer request hoping that we would find Rays ring.
« I think that pretty much sums it up! »

Lost Wedding Ring in Canyon Lake, Canyon Lake Texas (Recovered)
07/16/2015
I received a lost ring referral from Don Wilson « The Ring Finders » in Dallas, Texas. The referral was for an underwater ring recovery in 9-12′ of water in Canyon Lake. Don’s email provided contact information from Dallas resident Adrian.
I contacted Adrian the following day and he advised while visiting Canyon Lake on the 4th of July he lost his wedding ring. Adrian said while swimming with his fiancé his ring had slip off his finger. Adrian was able to provide very descriptive information on where on how he had lost his ring.
Adrian and I agreed to meet in Canyon Lake on Monday 07/20/2015 to search for his missing ring. Not knowing the amount of time or work that might be involved in this recovery, I called Greg Delong « The Ring Finders » Austin, Texas and asked for his help on this search.
Greg agreed to help and plans were finalized for everyone to meet Monday morning at Canyon Lake. Greg and I arrived first and we conducted a quick assessment of the site. The water was calm, plenty of parking, low pedestrian traffic, and the weather was very promising.
Greg and I met Adrian a short time later at the lake and we were given a first had account how the ring had been lost. Adrian was very prepared to find his ring, swimming us out to the location on the lake where he had dropped his ring.
The reported water depth of somewhere between 9-12′ deep, just a little too deep for traditional water work with a metal detector. Greg and I assembled the submersible search grid and it was floated out to the search location and submerged.
Adrian gave a thumbs up, stating that’s the spot as the platform was submerged. Adrian had done a great job at identifying the location of where he had dropped his ring, ultimately the factor in its recovery.
As I dove down to start the search for his ring, I turned on the Excalibur, set the threshold and began my search on the outer edge of the grid. (I traditional like working the outside edge first and then move inward) I was on my second swing, when I hit a solid signal, looked down through the muck and saw Adrian’s ring. I couldn’t believe it!
I worked the bottom for a few additional minutes, trying out my new OTS guardian full face mask and regulator, really top notch gear, and a must for dirty water.
The pictures and video tell the rest of the story.

I was contacted by Jon and Kerry today regarding Kerry’s Lost Engagement Ring-part of her Wedding Ring in Katy, Texas. Jon said they had been out walking when Kerry motioned with her hand and her ring went flying. John said the ring had landed in the grass near some businesses where they had been walking . Jon said they searched for an hour and could not find the ring. Jon said he went one step further and rented a Garrett Ace 250, but not being familiar with metal detector he wasn’t having any luck.
Jon said Kerry searched the internet for help and came across « The Ring Finders » and placed the call. The search was successful and Kerry was re-united with her missing Wedding-Engagement Ring today.

I was contacted Anthony and Jackie regarding Anthony’s lost wedding ring at their apartments pool in Houston, Texas. Anthony said he had been playing in the pool with one of their children when he felt his ring fly of his finger. Anthony said he searched for several hours, but he and Jackie were unable to find he missing wedding ring.
Anthony and Jackie searched the internet and found « The Ring Finders » and placed the call.
I met with Anthony and Jackie today, and after surveying the site, I asked Anthony to get back into the swimming pool and demonstrate his actions when he lost his ring. I had Anthony place a quarter between his finders and we did several test throws to see where his ring might have landed.
The practice throws were the key, on his third practice throw with the quarter it landed on the opposite side of the swimming pool. This was an area previously not searched by Anthony and Jackie, not thinking the ring was on the opposite side of the pool.
The ring was found moments later and Anthony was re-united with his missing wedding ring.
Anthony and Jackie were a great couple and it was a pleasure helping them find their lost ring.
