… Cache located in backyard. SPOILER ALERT ! The contents of the cache has been kept a secret as I agreed to a NDA .. non disclosure agreement.

Here’s the rest of the story. Sara called me telling me she needed help to find a buried item in her backyard. Her father had buried a plastic tube in the backyard with valuables to be given to his four daughters. He has past away unexpectedly.

He had given Sara verbal directions and told her the items were in a black pvc tube that was wrapped in plastic. It was buried in a garden area and most of it was under the concrete deck.

The sisters had tried digging all along the garden and a couple feet under the cement deck. They had no luck finding the buried tube that she knew contained metal items.

We agreed to meet at the residence on a week day afternoon. When I accessed the area it was 90% dug up with piles of dirt along the patio deck. I chose to use my detector with a small probe type coil, several pinpointers with extension handles and a 4 foot bottle probe.

There was at least one metal pipe that was a bit troublesome but I proceeded to check all the excavated hole. Secondly I decided to do some preliminary probing with the bottle probe. “BINGO”.. as I probed the beginning of where they had started the digging, I felt the probe hit plastic. From Sara’s description of the tube and how it was wrapped, I knew this had to be the treasure.

Three of the sisters were in the house making lunch for us ( part of the deal I made) .. They were excited about the find and called the fourth sister. They had agreed beforehand that every one would be present when the treasure was opened which would be tomorrow. I had already agreed to a non disclosure of the cache or its contents, so I didn’t get to see its contents. That OK with me. It was an awesome recovery and the ladies were very nice. Lunch was awesome .. Thank You for the Lunch !!

*** Dana was playing a volleyball game on the sand at Huntington State Beach, CA. During the playoff tournament game her soldered 3 gold diamond ring set came off her finger, disappearing into the sand. It was an important game, so they didn’t take time to search until after the game.

After the game all the players teamed up to search the sands for the ring set. Even though it was fairly large size they couldn’t find the ring set. Everyone left the beach, but Dana stayed frantically searching the sand by herself. This was so important as it was a wedding ring her dad gave to her mother and past down to her by her mother.

I received the call at 8:25 pm. After Dana told me she was still at the location, I told her the beach entrance is closed at 9pm. Even though it was close, there were at least 12 stop lights between my place and the beach entrance. If she could stay there we should be able to find it quickly.

The first success was to arrive before the entry gate closed. The whole beach parking lot was empty when I met Dana . We walked across the sand to one of 30 volleyball courts and within a few minutes my metal detector gave me that sweet sound of gold. The beautiful gold diamond wedding ring set was saved and returned to Dana.

I was surprised to leave my home, get to the location before the gates closed, find the ring, take a couple photos and return home in less than an hour from the time she called me.

*** Steven called from West Covina, CA. asking for help to find a gold bracelet with diamonds. His lady friend had been trimming ivy vines that had grown up a metal cyclone fence. Later that day she realized her gold bracelet was missing from her wrist. Had searched through all the trimmings but saved them in a trash container. He also spent a lot of time looking into the existing ivy on the metal fence.

We both were aware that it might be difficult to use a metal detector so close to the metal fence. After discussing the possibilities of conducting a search, we agreed that I could give it try. I drove to the location thinking the trimmings in the trash would be the best chance to find the lost bracelet. Once I get to the location we can discuss other possibilities as she had not discovered the bracelet missing till later that evening after going the yard work.

I was able to meet Steve a few hours after his call. Grabbing my equipment, we walked to the backyard. My plan was to start by spreading the ivy trimmings onto a cement patio deck that didn’t have metal re-bar or mesh. Then I had a second thought, I grabbed a high powered flashlight to begin a visual look into the ivy on the fence. There were several pockets of dead leaves that could hold a piece of jewelry.

Steve told me he had spent time searching that area, but allowed me to give it a try. After about 20 minutes I looked down, spotting the gold bracelet on the cement deck. It had been in the ivy and I dislodged it from the foliage.  We were lucky to start in the right location which did help to make it a quick recovery. Steve told me, he had already felt he had eliminated that area and would have never found the bracelet. Happy day for Steve, his friend and me..

I’m available now call me if you have any questions. I have experience with all types of searches.  I WILL TRY ANYWHERE..  949-500-2136

*** Diego called asking if I could find a ring in the water. He and his family were in Long Beach at a park called Colorado Lagoon. He had waded out in the lagoon waist deep diving head first in the water. He knew that was when his ring came off his finger.

I asked him to mark the spot above the high tide line and take a couple photos. Tide was rising and it may be too deep by the time I get there. He wasn’t sure the whole family could stand by as they were just about ready to leave.

I made the 18 mile drive catching them still at the site of the loss. Diego was awfully upset. I calmed him down saying the most important part of the search is done. We know he felt the ring come off his finger and I have the exact location. It may be deeper that I can get today but tomorrow morning we have a very low tide. It’s a back bay with no waves. The ring isn’t going anywhere..

I did a thorough grid out to neck deep with no success. There wasn’t very many bottle caps or trash metal targets, which is a good thing. It was looking like a return search the next low tide. He was insistent that it was at least waist deep. Completing all the water grid before calling it a day, I got a strong signal in knee deep water. Boom! Tungsten Carbide ring that was definitely Diego’s ring.. Another Very Happy guy. I knew that this meant the world to him because he was speechless. A perfect day, when we do these searches we never know what we will run into.

*** Lilly called me just before sunset. She and her friend were on the sand in Newport Beach, CA. All I needed to hear was that she felt her ring come off her finger and disappear into the sand. We needed to get on this right away. I told her I was only a mile away and I could find if she could stay there till I arrived.

I met her 20 minutes later at the location on the dry sand. She said it was a yellow gold ring, pointing out a 10’x10’ square area. Boom!  A few swings and I got a great signal. After scooping up the target I could see a beautiful 18k Cartier Love ring. She was overwhelmed.

Then she told me that another ring was lost while searching she was searching for this ring. I didn’t take the time to ask her what kind of ring. This area was a bit larger but not a problem as I set up a grid area to begin scanning with my metal detector. Boom ! Again I had another yellow gold ring in my scoop. To my surprise it was another Cartier Love Ring.

Lilly and her friend were so happy after spending several searching the sand believing it was impossible to find such a small item in tons of sand. Also they were returning to Seattle he next day. I love making smiles.

… Kristy and Ron spent the afternoon at Balboa Beach watching their son play flag football on the beach. After the game Ron’s son passed the football to him. Of course Ron passed it back to his son. At the same moment Ron’s wedding ring went flying into the sand disappearing immediately.

They spent quite awhile trying to find the ring with no success. They gave up as they had to drive home before dark. They were a few miles from the beach when Kristy found my contact information and called me. When I heard that they actually knew when and where the ring was lost, I told them it should be a short search if they could meet me .

I told them I was 15 minutes from the location. They decided to turn around to meet me at the beach. After we met it took longer to walk across 150 yards of sand than it did to locate his wedding ring. They were very grateful to have their original wedding band back. It was a ring he has worn for decades.

… I received a early morning text asking help to find three rings lost the day before. Lisa told me that the rings were set on the towel while putting on sunscreen. She didn’t realize them missing until they were driving home.

The next morning Lisa and her husband went back to the beach with a metal detector they purchased at a sporting goods store. Knowing they didn’t have any experience with a metal detector. They called me to ask for help. I asked them to claim the area so nobody set up in the search site.

I met them on the beach after they spent an hour with the metal detector none of the rings showed up. We were lucky that the beach cleaning machines had not worked the beach that morning.

I set up my machine knowing we had three targets which made the odds of finding the lost rings better. I didn’t start in the best area, but I did get a single signal as I narrowed down the search location. Everyone was starting to lose nope. Then I got a single signal with no other signals near it. One dig with the sand scoop prove to be a yellow gold Cartier Love ring. I called Lisa over to claim the ring as I swung my detector coil for another signal. No signal.

When I looked back in my scoop, there were two white gold rings hiding in the silver colored stainless steel scoop. Amazing and another learning experience for me. They must have been laying together or maybe the thicker yellow gold ring dominated the signal. The most important fact was these irreplaceable sentimental rings were saved and back where they belong.

It’s always a gamble to try a beach search after days have past on our Southern California beaches especially on the dry sand towel areas. I’ve learned that we can’t give up. Part of the search process is to confirm that the lost item is not there. I try to give people that ask for my help that information so they understand how it works. I use the best metal detectors and have experience using them. If the item isn’t there, I can’t find it, but in most cases I can verify it’s not there. Which helps people to eliminate an area. Finding lost items is a process of elimination..

… JONES called me after losing his Texas A&M Gold Ring in the sand at a Southern California beach.. He said he didn’t feel it come off.  It was going to be dark by the time he could meet me on the beach. JONES said he believed the ring came off when he rinsed his hands off in the cold water.

We met on the beach as the tide starting to come up. After looking at all the possibilities to where the ring could be lost. I elected to search the towel line because that’s where he spent most of his time on the beach. Also the tide had already advanced high enough that tomorrow’s low tide would be best time to go for the ring. He hadn’t spend much time at the water’s edge and did not feel the ring come off his finger.

From my experience the ring had a better possibility of being in the area he spent most the day. Tomorrow the city beach cleaning machines will be sifting the sands and the usually hit the towel line thoroughly.

After about 20 minutes the big heavy gold Texas A&M Aggie ring was recovered. Jones was a happy guy. These rings are very coveted by graduates of Texas A&M. I was also happy that I guessed the ring was in the dry sand and I hadn’t wasted time trying to find it in the crashing surf.

I can search cars, homes and water where metal detectors can’t be used. I you need advice or assistance looking for a lost or misplaced valuable please feel free to call or text.

… Sean’s family is visiting Newport Beach for a week He went surfing and put his gold necklace with a Gold Cross pendant in his backpack. Later that evening the chain and pendant were not in the Back pack.

His Aunt contacted me 3 days after the loss. They believed the jewelry may have been pulled out of the backpack when taking the towel out.

She met me on the beach telling me that the missing necklace was a gift to her nephew when he was very young.

I told her it could be findable even though several days had passed. Chains can be a challenge with most detectors. I proceeded in a large area that she showed me. Still aware that they were not sure where the loss occurred. The item wasn’t missed until they returned to their rental house four blocks away.

The recovery was made on the beach in the dry sand. It was such a broken up signal in my earphones I almost didn’t dig it..

Sean was just coming out of the water just after I found the necklace.. It was a pleasure to hand it to him. He was more than elated and very appreciative for my help.

If you or anyone you know has  lost a precious sentimental item, I can help you. Besides metal detectors, I have tools to search cars, inside buildings, in the water, etc. Call for information ..”I WILL TRY ANYWHERE “ Stan the Metal Detector Man … 949-500-2136

*** Avery called me about 11:30 pm asking for help to find a very sentimental ring she had lost in the sand. She was hoping to meet me in the morning as it was so late she didn’t think I would be available now.  I know the beach well and told her our chances of finding her ring would be best if she could meet me at the location in the next 30 minutes.

We met just before midnight in a safe place of Newport Beach, CA. She had her boyfriend with her and we took off to a location 2 blocks south. They were disagreeing on the location where the loss seemed to occur. Within a few minutes her girl friend came up to us saying that we were 3 blocks south of where they had been on the beach.

I went to that location because her girlfriend was more confident than the other two. This is not uncommon people that aren’t familiar with the beach get mixed up especially in the dark. Avery was very upset and in tears. I started a grid search with my metal detector and within 20 minutes had her ring in the sand scoop.

You can see that it was an emotional moment when I returned the ring to Avery. This is what I like about doing these searches. I wish everyone could see as many happy moments as I have seen.
