Lost Gold Hawaiian Style Wedding Ring at Aulani Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began on Friday when I received a call from Megazar who lives in Ewa Beach.  While enjoying the cool waters of the lagoon with his lovely wife Edah his Gold Hawaiian Style Wedding ring fell off and disappeared into the sand.  They both tried sifting the sand but the odds are dramatically against you in that task.  In my years hunting I’ve only heard of one and that was a Gold Cuban Necklace.  Edah did a google search and found « The Ring Finders » and reached out to me.  I agreed to try the next morning but a miscommunication on probable depth eluded me from finding the ring.  We agreed it would be better if we all met at the beach and they could show me the suspected location.  We agreed to meet Sunday after church.  When I arrived at the beach Edah was already in the water on the hunting spot.  Megazar and I joined her and I explained the type of grid pattern I would do.  First two passes nothing then on the third pass about 5 yards from Edah I got a booming tone on the Nox.  Five scoops later I had a corroded pull tab in my scoop.  I explained how that could have been the ring.  As I moved to within 2 yards of Edah I got an identical tone.  I was thinking probably another pull tab and unbelievably after 8-9 scoops there in the scoop was Megazar’s awesome Hawaiian style Ring.  They were both in shock and very relieved.  Edah was practically standing on the ring and immediately took it from me and put it back on Megazar’s finger.  They told me it was their anniversary so I’m especially glad that hunt was successful.  Aloha to Megazar and Edah!

Lost Gold Men’s Wedding Band at Waialae-Kahala Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began back on 2 February when I got a call from the Ala Moana Hotel and guest Ana Lucia who was on her honeymoon from Costa Rica.  Ana told me her husband Jose lost his Yellow Gold Wedding ring at Waialae-Kahala Beach a few hours ago in waist deep water.  I asked if they could meet me there in about 30 minutes as that beach is only 10 minutes from my home.  They agreed so I headed over.  There is very limited parking but I got lucky as I was pulling in someone was leaving.  It took Jose & Ana a bit longer as rush hour traffic was just starting.  When they arrived Ana interpreted to Jose my request for him to show me where in the water he was.  I asked to go to the deepest and then I would work towards shore.  I started a grid search and worked towards shore.  Thankfully not too many targets but as I entered waist deep water Jose relayed thru Ana that he thought I was getting too close to shore.   Ana thought I was actually too far to the East so I moved Westward and deeper.  This area became very trashy so I was digging plenty of trash.  After an hour or so Jose & Ana said thank you for trying but maybe it was just meant to be.  I told them I wouldn’t give up and would try again soon.  Turns out the next day was super calm and a perfect low tide so I returned and started the hunt again.  With all the targets I figured the ring must still be here.  I started the Jose grid again this meant I was going to work more East and toward shore.  Sure enough as I left the previous days grid more East and Shallower I got a booming #20 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Jose’s ring in the scoop.  Had I only gone one more grid line the previous day I probably would have found it.  I immediately sent an email but to my surprise Jose & Ana had already flown back to Cost Rica as they hadn’t responded until a few days later.  Thankfully, Ana’s Aunt in San Francisco was going to visit them in Costa Rica that following weekend and if I got the ring by Express Mail to her she would personally deliver it to Jose when she arrived in Costa Rica.  Got the best « Shaka » pic I’ve seen in a long time.  Look at those smiles!  Aloha to Jose & Ana Lucia!

Lost White & Yellow Gold Wedding Band at Aulani Beach Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Jenica.  She was on vacation staying at the Aulani Resort when her husband Matt’s White & Yellow Gold Wedding Band slipped off in shallow water while playing with their baby son.  Makiki Joe’s Beach Team gave Jenica my number and that’s how she reached out.  I’d just gotten home from work but decided if I left immediately I could miss rush hour traffic.  When I arrived Matt had taken the baby up to their room to protect him from sunburn and Jenica remained on the beach to show me the search area.  I fired up the Nox and immediately found a golden hair clip.  Then on the third leg of the grid search I got a nice tone and in one scoop there was Matt’s ring.  Jenica assured me it was Matt’s ring and was very thankful.  Another vacation saved!  Aloha to Jenica & Matt!

Lost Heirloom Gold & Diamond Ring at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began this afternoon when I got a call from Anthony who is from San Francisco California and was on vacation.  While Anthony and his girlfriend Abi were enjoying the cool waters of Ulua Lagoon Abi’s heirloom Gold and Diamond Ring she got from her Grandmother fell off in shallow water and disappeared.  An immediate search with googles was hopeless as the ring was covered in the fine sand of the lagoon.  Anthony found me on a Google search and I had just returned from a Chinese New Year lunch with my wife Wendy.  I told Anthony to just relax on the beach and I would grab my detecting gear and head right down.  Traffic was a breeze so I made it there in around 30 minutes.  Anthony was waiting on the beach for me and Abi was in the water near where she had lost the ring.  I started a grid search to the South of Abi and when I was in about thigh deep water I got a nice 12-13 tone on the Nox and in one scoop there was Abi’s heirloom ring in the scoop.  They hadn’t told me about the diamond so I told Abi, « This can’t be your ring. »  She immediately exclaimed when it came into view, That’s certainly it! »  I could see a few tears of relief as we hugged.  Elapsed time 45 seconds.  They aren’t always this quick.  Aloha to Abi & Anthony!

Lost White Gold Engagement & Wedding Rings at Aulani Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began when I got a call from the Aulani concierge desk.  The hostess told me one of their guests lost her Engagement and Wedding Rings in the sand on the beach and if I was available for recovery.  She handed me off to Danielle who was on vacation from San Diego and told me she put her rings in the waistband of her shorts to attend to her baby and after walking down to the water’s edge she realized they had fallen out.  After an intense search the beach team told her we have a guy.  I was just finishing up work for the day and I told Danielle that I’d go home, grab my gear and head out to the resort to search.  I told her to stop searching and just relax until I got there.  When I arrived Daniele’s Mom Debbie met me at the beach equipment rental stand and then walked me down to the search area.   I decided to hunt the open area before we had to move any beach chairs.  After covering that area with no ring found, Debbie had already started moving the chairs for me.  On the first sweep and at the extreme end of the grid I got a loud #6 on the Nox and in one scoop there were Danielle’s beautiful rings.  The tourists around us started clapping and Danielle came down and said,  » That’s certainly my ring and you are the best! »  Then we hugged and rejoiced at the successful recovery.  Aloha to Danielle!

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Lanikai Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began on 15 September when I got a text from Jean from Los Angeles, California and was on vacation on Oahu.  It said, « I lost a platinum ring at Lanikai Beach last Saturday 09/10 at 1-2pm while snorkeling in 6ft deep water (tide is low intensity sand hard and water clear but could not find it…maybe it is stuck in a coral hole.  Please let me know what of think) »  This was going to be a scuba hunt as during a high tide it could be 8 feet deep.  Jean sent some excellent pics of the area so on 23 September I commenced a scuba hunt after the jellyfish invasion the few days prior.  Man-O-Wars and Box Jellies are the worst at Lanikai!  The beach access turned out to be the extreme right side of the grid search so I started there.  As I worked my way north I detected the sand and did a thorough visual search of the top of each coral head.  The area was really sterile so not many junk targets to dig.  About 20 minutes into the dive as I was exiting a dense coral area I got a nice #9 on the Nox and in a few fans of the sand a Platinum Ring came into view.  When I got back to my car I texted a pic to Jean who was back in LA.  He asked if I could verify it had a triangle, heart and circle engraved inside the band.  Sure enough it did.  Jean didn’t want to chance losing his ring in the mail and asked if I could hold it until his return trip in December.  Well today Jean & his lovely wife Clemence arrived on island and Jean got his ring back.  Love the Texas hat.  Aloha to Jean & Clemence!

Lost Gold Icebox Wedding Ring at Honu Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began Monday afternoon when I got a call from Marcel who lives on Oahu with his lovely wife Taaliah.  While spending the day playing with his daughter on the beach and in the water at Honu Lagoon at some point his stunning Yellow Gold Icebox Wedding band became lost.  Marcel searched the beach but had no luck finding the ring.  He texted me a video and some pics of the search area and the ring.  I decided that since in the water was a possibility, I had to hunt low tide the next afternoon because Honu Lagoon can be a washing machine.  When I arrived the next afternoon and checked in with Aloha Security at the gate the young lady told me a Diamond Ring was found by a jogger at Honu Lagoon that morning and she had the number for me.  Thankfully they answered the call while in route to the North Shore.  I texted them a pic of Marcel’s ring and they confirmed that was the ring they had found.  They returned to the resort at 6PM and left the ring at the Front Desk at the Beach Villas for me to retrieve.  This morning I was able to return the ring to Marcel.  What a truly wonderful couple that were so gracious to me for the recovery.  Angels certainly played a roll in this recovery.  Aloha to Marcel & Taaliah!

Lost Heirloom Gold Wedding Ring at Aulani Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began yesterday when I returned a call to Amanda who was on vacation from Mount Washington, Los Angeles, California and staying at the Aulani Disney resort.  While her husband Michael was entering the water of the lagoon to play with their children his Heirloom Gold Wedding Ring came off in waist deep water and disappeared.  Since it was getting late and the surf was up I agreed to meet Michael & Amanda the next afternoon at low tide.  When I arrived I couldn’t reach them by phone but with the excellent picture they sent I decided to go down and start the hunt in that area.  It actually happened immediately as I entered the waist deep water I got a nice number « 15 » on the Nox and in one scoop there was Michael’s ring in the scoop.  As I was walking up to the cabana chairs I spotted Michael and we waved at each other.  When I got to him he was about to describe the location but I said, « I found it already! »  Michael was like, « Wait, what? »  I said I hope its yours I just have to get it off my finger.  Michael looked in disbelief as I handed it to him and said, « That’s exactly the ring! »  We had a friendly conversation some hugs & pictures and I told them to enjoy the rest of their vacation to the fullest.  They texted me later « Our Ring Hero!!!  Thank you Praying hands!  Love this hobby! Aloha to Michael and Amanda!

Lost White Gold Lapis & Turquoise Wedding Ring at Diamond Head Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began Sunday October 23rd when I got a text from Linda from Oregon who was on vacation on Oahu.  While swimming from Black Point to Diamond Head she lost her precious wedding ring at the ocean’s edge.  She had the exact address of the beach access and sent that to me.  As she was coming ashore a wave hit her and the ring came off in waist deep water.  I told her I would do a hunt Monday morning as the tide was the lowest then and the surf was coming down.  I was able to match the location to the map her brother sent me and I commenced the search.  I found a different ring to start the search and a few pieces of can slaw.  About 20 minutes into the search I got a nice tone on the Nox on the shoreline up slope.  After one scoop there was Linda’s beautiful ring in the scoop.  The tide was coming in so I was thrilled to find the ring when I did.  She texted me today that the ring finally arrived safely in the mail.  Aloha to Linda!

Lost 24K Gold Wedding Band at Kuhio Beach Pools Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began when I noticed a missed call on my phone from Conor.  When I returned the called Conor told me he was on his Honeymoon from Portland, Oregon and had just lost his 24k Gold Wedding Band in shallow water at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki.  He said he had about a 10 foot radius to search.  I told Conor I’d grab my gear and be there in about 15 minutes if he could meet me at the Kapahulu Pier.  After arriving on the beach Conor’s lovely wife Yumeng joined us and was the depth marker on the seawall while Conor came in the water with me to show me where he thought the ring would be.  I started a grid search slightly East of Conor’s mark just to be sure.  Thankfully this area is so heavily detected the hunt was silent then suddenly a booming hit on the Nox and on the second scoop there was the 24K Gold ring in the scoop.  2 for 2 today and Yumeng and Conor were so gracious I was able to find his ring.  Aloha to Conor & Yumeng!
