Lost Platinum Ring Found in Front Yard – Gonzales, Louisiana

I received a call from a gentleman in Gonzales, Louisiana, asking if I could help recover a ring that had been lost in their front yard.

The ring had been thrown into the yard during an argument, and afterward they were unable to find it. They had a general idea of the direction it had been thrown and how far they thought it might have traveled, but searching the grass by hand hadn’t turned up anything.

They even bought a metal detector and searched the yard themselves, but after trying to locate the ring with no luck, they decided to reach out for help.

I was available that morning, so I loaded up my metal detecting equipment and headed to Gonzales to see if I could find it.

When I arrived, they showed me where the ring had been thrown from and the area where they believed it should have landed. I started searching the most likely location and then systematically expanded outward.

One of the challenges with a thrown ring is that estimating its flight path can be surprisingly difficult. A small difference in the angle or direction can put it well outside the area where you expect it to be. That turned out to be exactly what happened here. After about 30 minutes of searching with my metal detector, I got the signal I was looking for.

Ring found!

Interestingly, the ring hadn’t traveled nearly as far as they expected. Instead, it had gone much farther to the left of the anticipated path. That put it outside the area where they had been concentrating their search and explained why they hadn’t been able to locate it, even after buying a detector and searching themselves.

The recovered ring was a beautiful 950 platinum ring with multiple stones.

The best part of any recovery is getting to return something that matters to its owner. They were both extremely happy to have the ring back and thanked me repeatedly for coming out and finding it.

What started as a lost ring hidden somewhere in a front yard, and even survived an unsuccessful metal detector search, ended with another successful recovery and the ring back where it belonged.

Lost a Ring in Gonzales or Southeast Louisiana?

Even owning or borrowing a metal detector doesn’t always guarantee success. Lost Gold Wedding Ring Found at Baseball Field in Lakeview, New Orleans

I was contacted by Michael after he lost his gold wedding ring while playing catch with his son at a baseball field in Lakeview, New Orleans.

After realizing the ring was missing, Michael needed someone experienced with a metal detector to help search the field. Interestingly, he turned to Claude AI for help finding a local ring recovery service in New Orleans, and Claude recommended me. Michael reached out shortly afterward, and we arranged to meet at the baseball field.

Michael had a pretty good idea of how the ring may have disappeared. He and his son had been throwing the baseball around when, at one point, they switched gloves and tossed the gloves to each other. Somewhere during the activity, his wedding ring likely slipped off his finger and disappeared into the grass.

Fortunately, Michael was able to narrow down where he thought it happened to an area roughly 50 x 50 feet.

When we met at the field, Michael walked me through what they had been doing and showed me the area where he believed the ring had fallen. I began systematically searching the grass with my metal detector.

After thoroughly covering the most likely area without finding the ring, I started expanding the search farther out.

This is something I’ve learned from many lost-ring recoveries: the place where someone believes they lost a ring and the place where it actually landed aren’t always the same.Throwing something, removing or exchanging gloves, and other quick hand movements can send a loose ring farther than expected.

After approximately 45 minutes of searching, I got the signal I had been looking for.

There it was, Michael’s gold wedding ring hiding in the grass, slightly outside the area where he originally thought he had lost it.

Another wedding ring recovered and returned to its owner!

Michael was thrilled to have his ring back, and I was happy to make another successful lost ring recovery here in New Orleans.

This recovery is also a great example of why you shouldn’t give up on a ring just because you’ve already searched the area yourself. Rings can completely disappear beneath grass, and sometimes expanding the search by only a short distance makes all the difference.

Another Quick Recovery, this Time in Kenner, Louisiana.

I received a call from a woman who had lost one of her rings while out running with her dog. She had both rings in her pocket and at some point accidentally pulled them out without realizing it. Fortunately, she had a very good idea of where the loss occurred, right along the side of the main road where she had been running.

When I arrived, she showed me the area where she believed the ring had fallen. The circumstances made sense, and her recollection of the location was remarkably accurate. After turning on the detector and beginning the search, it quickly became apparent we were in the right spot. The lost ring turned out to be only the third target I checked and was recovered in about 30 seconds!

It’s always satisfying when a recovery comes together so quickly, but it also highlights an important lesson: the more accurately someone can narrow down the loss location, the higher the chances of a fast and successful recovery.

Another happy client reunited with a treasured piece of jewelry and another reminder that sometimes the ring really is exactly where you think it is.

Lost Ring Found in Hammond, Louisiana Yard – Persistence Pays Off

This week I got a call from a homeowner in Hammond, Louisiana who had lost a ring somewhere in her yard. She had already brought out another member from TheRingFinders, but unfortunately, the ring still hadn’t been found.

When I arrived, the first thing I did was ask her to walk me through exactly where the previous search had taken place. She showed me the area, and I decided to re-check it myself just to be sure. After covering that section thoroughly with my detector and turning up nothing, I felt confident eliminating that area entirely.

That’s actually a big advantage in these recoveries, once an area has been properly searched (especially twice), you can shift your focus and start thinking differently about where the ring could be.

I expanded the search, working left and right into adjacent areas of the yard, but still no signal. At that point, I decided to take a long shot.

There was a trampoline in the yard, and I moved to the opposite side which was much farther out than the homeowner thought the ring could have traveled. Using my orange flag marking technique, I began systematically grid-searching the area to eliminate ground efficiently and avoid overlap.

Sure enough… a solid signal.

Just like that, the ring was sitting in the grass on the far side of the trampoline which was well outside the originally searched zone.

Another successful recovery in Louisiana, and another reminder that these items often end up farther than expected.

Lost Wedding Ring Found in Slidell, Louisiana Backyard

I was contacted about a lost gold wedding ring in Slidell, Louisiana after it accidentally flew off while the owner was removing his gloves on his back porch. The ring landed somewhere in the wooded backyard area, which included mud, shallow water, and thick vegetation which made it difficult to locate by sight alone.

We scheduled a recovery, and once I arrived in Slidell, the homeowner showed me the last known location. I began a systematic search using my Nokta Makro Simplex Ultra metal detector, placing orange flags to mark signals that were too deep to be the ring, and carefully scanning the area behind the house.

Within about 15 minutes, I received a strong signal in a shallow water section. As I passed over the target again, I could actually see the gold ring faintly visible beneath the water and mud about 1-2 inches deep.

Using my Garrett ProPointer AT, I quickly pinpointed and recovered the ring.

The homeowner and his family were incredibly relieved and excited to have the ring back. Losing a wedding ring can be stressful, but fast response and the right equipment make all the difference.

Lost Tantalum Wedding Ring Found in Metairie, Louisiana

I received a text message from a man in Metairie, Louisiana who had lost his tantalum wedding band while playing fetch with his dog in the backyard. He’d searched everywhere in the vicinity and even tried using a cheap metal detector he had at home, but with no luck. I headed over after work, took a quick look at the yard, and within about five minutes my Nokta Makro Simplex Ultra locked onto a clean target. The ring was hiding just under the grass about 20 feet in front of the spot he thought it had fallen off. Another successful recovery and a very relieved owner! Lost Wedding Band Recovered in New Orleans Backyard

I was contacted by a man named James in New Orleans who lost his wedding band while pulling weeds in his backyard and had no idea where it could be, since he’d been all over the yard working in different garden beds. I started the search using my Garrett AT Pro-Pointer inside all of the garden beds but had no luck, so as daylight began to fade I switched to my Nokta Makro Simplex Ultra and began systematically searching the yard. After about 45 minutes of searching total and just before it got dark, I got a clean signal and found his ring laying just outside one of the garden beds. He was incredibly relieved, and it was another great reminder of how rewarding it is to help someone recover something so meaningful.

Wedding ring found after front yard search in Holden, Louisiana

Taylor contacted me back in December asking if I could assist in finding her wedding ring that was lost in her front yard after a night with hanging out by the bonfire with friends and family. I was able to make it out to Holden a few weeks later, however, once I finally arrived at her house, the rain began pouring down and the cold weather didn’t make the situation any better. After searching for about 30 minutes, I decided it would be best to return another day when the conditions were better. Almost two months later I finally was able to return. This time the weather was perfect. I used orange marking flags to meticulously mark every couple foot that I searched so that I don’t keep searching the same area. After clearing the entire front yard, I worked my way across the driveway to the side. Within 5 feet I saw her massive rose gold wedding ring still sitting on top the soil. I was thrilled that through perseverance, we were able to reunite Taylor with her lost wedding ring.

Gold ring lost in garden, found by ringfinder in Laplace, Louisiana

I was contacted by Lance on July 27, 2023, asking me to help him find his gold wedding ring that he lost during Easter time when he working in his garden. I went to Laplace, Louisiana in hopes of recovering his ring and returning it to him. Lance has had his wedding ring for almost 27 years and he has felt lost without it for the past few months. He didn’t recall exactly when it fell off, he just remembered having the ring on when he started in the morning and then it no longer being on his finger in the afternoon. He said he went numerous places throughout the yard where it could have fallen off. I began my search on one side of the garden bed and worked my way to the other side, only scanning the top layer with the pinpointer. No luck! So I decided to take out the Simplex+ and attempt to search the yard. The yard was relatively empty and there were no serious targets. I decided to go back to the garden and search the 3-8 inch deep range. After clearing about 3 feet of garden and got a beep from the pinpointer. As I scooped with my hand, out popped a gold ring. The 95 degree heat was really taking a toll , so I was extremely relieved I was able to find this within the hour. I went up to Lance and asked he « what type of material was the ring again? ». He responded with « yellow gold » and I said « like this type of yellow gold » as I showed him the ring. He was extremely excited and appreciative.

Ring lost in a 4-wheeler accident a few hours after getting married in Franklinton, Louisiana

I was contacted by a women who said her friend got into a 4-wheeler accident in Franklinton, Louisiana at Riverbend Campground, which resulted in him losing his tungsten wedding ring. The man had just got married a few hours earlier at Riverbend Campground and was celebrating with friends and family when he lost it. Now, the couple were on their honeymoon in another state and had tasked their friend with finding the ring at all costs. After searching all day the next day, she gave up looking. She managed to place a chair over the location where she thought the ring likely was.

She went home, did some research and learned about the Ringfinders. When she contacted me, I knew we didn’t have much time to waste considering it was on a beach at a public campground. I was able to make it over there a few hours later. I found the chair she had placed over the target and I immediately searched around the chair. My first target was a solid signal but ended up being a 9mm shell casing. My second target was another great signal, I figured it would be another shell casing but as I stuck the pinpointer into the sand and pushed the sand aside I saw the ring pop out. It was located about 2 feet behind the chair. It took less than 1 minute to make this recovery.
