Lost White Gold with Solitaire Diamond Wedding Ring at Hale Koa Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began on Thursday, 10 October when I got a text from Andrea who was on vacation from Clive, Iowa and staying with her husband at the Hale Koa.  They were flying out the next day, right at the low tide, when I intended to hunt as they had been in the water and weren’t actually sure when the ring came off.  It was going to be a mail back ring scenario.  When I arrived at low tide I searched the dry sand area where they had been relaxing on beach chairs.  No luck.  Andrea mentioned they had only gone out to about waist deep water and had been thrown around by the waves and rolled around a bit.  I started on the upper slope going down into the water out to at least chest deep to be sure I covered the area well.  I just hunted this area the weekend before so it was sterile.  Then on the 4th leg of the grid going up the wet sand slope I got a nice loud tone and in one scoop there was Andrea’s gorgeous ring in the scoop.  A rather large 1.5 carat diamond was my guess.  I immediately texted her the great news but the flight had already departed.  I got a text at 1:10 AM asking, Any luck? then, « No way!  Woah!  Amazing! Ya! When it’s morning give me a call. »  I mailed the ring back and you can see in the pic above Andrea and her husband have smiles of joy back in Iowa!  Much Aloha to Andrea & her husband!

Lost White Gold Wedding Band at Hale Koa Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a text from Brittany who was on vacation from Dallas Texas.  Her text said she got my info from Don my fellow ring finder on Oahu and said her husband Michael lost his white gold wedding ring on Hale Koa Beach in the dry sand.  I told her I was getting off work soon and would grab my gear and head right down.  I told her I would come down the board walk and just flag me when I came in sight.  When I arrived on location Michael was already removing beach items from the search area and showed me the area he thought the ring would be.  I fired up the « Beast » my Manticore off course and started the hunt.  My first target screamed a « 36 » and in one scoop there was Michael’s precious Tacori white gold wedding ring.  Brittany asked if that was my fastest recovery and i said, « No, I actually turned my detector on at Turtle Bay and the ring was under my coil.  But this for sure is second quickest!!!  They sincerely thanked me and I wished them well on the rest of their vacation.  Aloha to Michael & Brittany!

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Hale Koa Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a text from Terry that said he lost his Gold Wedding band in waist deep water yesterday at Hale Koa hotel, while on vacation from Colorado Springs. I had just returned from a relaxing low tide mark hunt through Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Hale Koa Hotel beaches. I found a 14K Gold Band but it was on the Hilton side. I told Terry I’d grab my gear again and meet him on the boardwalk near Hale Koa Beach. When I arrived Terry introduced me to his lovely wife Mary and we proceeded down to the shoreline so they could show me the area to hunt. Mary was sure the hunt should start somewhat more to the left and I did start there. As those of you that know me, my gig is the ladies are much better at remembering locations. Good thing too because on only the third leg of the grid search after finding two pull tabs I got a loud 12/13 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Terry’s Gold Ring in the scoop. I will always listen to both but weigh heavily on the woman’s guidance! I can’t even remember when the last time the « Man » was correct! Terry & Mary were very grateful and several people on the beach came down to get my number. One gentleman said he was going to send me some honey from his bee farm! What a gracious offer and such wonderful people this morning on the beach. I found out Terry served in the Air Force so, « Thank You for your service Sir. » Aloha to Mary & Terry

Lost Platinum & Diamonds Wedding ring at Hale Koa Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I received a call from Bebe who resides from Telluride, Colorado. Bebe explained that while she was holding her girlfriend Hannah’s Platinum & Diamonds Wedding ring for safekeeping while she went snorkeling…Bebe promptly lost it while throwing a football to her six year old nephew. It slid right off her pinkie and somewhere into the sand. Several beach-goers searched but no luck. Even a metal detectorist came through with a substandard machine and all it did was make noise. I told Bebe to stop searching and get rid of the detectorist. I would be there in 30 minutes time. She agreed and just guarded her spot on the beach. When I arrived we marked out a grid in the dry sand about the size of 16 parking stalls. First target was a quarter and then Boom the sound of Platinum. Its very distinct on the Excalibur. One scoop down and there was Hannah’s gorgeous ring. Elapsed time 3 minutes. These hunts are the best. Aloha to Hannah and Bebe best friends again!
