White Gold Diamond Wedding Ring Lost in the Dry Sand, Found and Returned Litchfield Beach SC

Shortly before 5 p.m. on April 15, 2026, I received a phone call from Amy saying she lost her ring. She described the Wedding Ring, and I told her I could be there in about 55 minutes to an hour. Enroute, I called her to get more details on how and where she lost it. She explained that she had put her ring in the cup holder of her chair so she could apply suntan lotion. When she packed up to leave the beach, she forgot the ring. She said that she didn’t realize it was missing until she got back to her Condo. As I’m driving, she sent me a text asking, “Do you think we can find it?” I responded, “Yes, if you put me in the right area, we’ll find it!”

When I arrived at the gated resort, I had to get Amy on the phone so the gate guard would let me enter. I kept Amy on the phone, and she steered me to where she was waiting. We walked out on the beach, and she showed me a group of sticks stuck in the sand showing about where she had been sitting. Unfortunately, there was a couple just a few feet away and basically sitting in the search area. Amy must have told the couple what was going on, so they were happy to leave. Amy also mentioned that the ring could have fallen out of the cup holder on her way to the access. I started an east/west grid search about where Amy had put the sticks and worked my way out on all sides. Since Amy told me her ring was white gold, I knew the VDI (visual display indicator) was going to be in the 9 to 11 range, or there about. As I moved closer to the access point, I got a solid 11 on the VDI. I looked down and saw a little edge of what appeared to be a white gold piece of metal. I reached down and pulled out Amy’s beautiful ring. She was standing about 20 feet away, near where she had me start, when I held her ring up. She couldn’t believe it was found and just stood there. I think she said, “Is that my ring?” It took her about 2 seconds to close the distance and retrieve her ring. What a smile I got. It’s moments like this that make it all worthwhile!

Wedding/Engagement Ring Lost in the Surf, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

On 7/31/25 and just before 2 pm, I received a text saying, “Hi Jim. My name is Jennifer B and I lost my wedding/engagement ring about an hour ago in front of the Sand Castle Ocean Front Resort South Beach. I was about thigh deep in the ocean and got wiped out by a wave and lost the ring. Sending a picture. Thank you!” I checked the tide tables and figure she lost it about 45 minutes before high tide. By now the tide would have turned. By the time I’d get there it’d be a couple hours past high tide and easily researchable. I called the number attached to the text and spoke with Jennifer. I got a few more details and told her I’d be there in about 30-35 minutes. She agreed and I was on my way.

When I arrived, I easily found a place to park and walked on the beach. I called Jennifer telling her I was on the beach, and she directed me to where she was. When we met, she explained what had happened and looking at the conditions I completely understood how she lost it. Mother Nature wasn’t in a good mood; the sea breeze had picked up enough to blow the waves straight into the beach. There was also a tough at the bottom of the slope which meant the waves were crashing right where I thought her ring would be. I started a grid search both parallel and perpendicular to the shoreline and wasn’t having any luck. Twice, I tried to venture into the tough and both times waves knocked me flat. There were people including Jennifer, trying to help me get up and grab my detector and scoop. I wasn’t having any fun at this point. There were still a few hours before low tide, so I decided to call it for now and come back later. I apologized to Jennifer for not finding it but didn’t say I was coming back at that point. I needed to check the home front and grab some dinner for the wife and me. Just before low tide, I text Jennifer saying I was going back to try again and hit the road. I arrived back right at low tide and the conditions were much better. I started a grid search at the north end of the search area and about mid tide. I was able to make my way out to waist deep. My 3rd line, I hit a solid 11 on the VDI (visual display indicator), exactly what I expected for a lady’s Platinum ring. One scoop and I had it out of the hole, gently shook the sand out and saw her ring. I took a quick picture, sent it to Jennifer and said “Bingo.” I also asked where she was, and I’d bring it to her. I called her and found out her and the 4 ladies she was vacationing with were at a local restaurant, so I was on my way. I met Jennifer and her emotional response was priceless.

15 Keys on a Key Ring Lost in Tall Grass, Found and Returned Rocky Point, NC

May 2nd, I got a call from Sherry telling me she had lost a set of keys while weed eating around her house. She said she had a hole in the pocket of her pants and didn’t realize her keys had fallen through. She also said that the grass was about 8 inches high. We agreed to meet and I set out on the hour and a half drive.

When I met Sherry, she showed me where she had started her weed eating that went around the trailer. The grass was probably thigh deep and I started detecting as well as doing a visual search. About half way around the trailer, I eyeballed the key ring with 15 keys nestled down in the grass. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find a pewter charm that was also on the key chain that had evidentially come off the ring. None the less, Sherry was grateful to get her office, house, car and various other keys back.
