Man’s Tungsten Ring Lost and Found in Calabash NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I was researching a Face Book page where someone had referred me to a young lady that had a recent loss. In the process I read a post from Terisa stating that her husband, Nathan had lost his tungsten wedding band in some bushes. I reached out to her by text saying I’d be glad to help, if she liked. She responded saying her and Nathan had been trying to find a place to eat. They were on a mini-vacation and in the middle of the covid-19 virus, and couldn’t find a restaurant to eat at. About the only place open was a little ice cream shop. Out of frustration, her husband “misplaced” his wedding band in a large bush next to the ice cream shop. This seemed like a pretty simple search.

When I got to the strip mall, I thought it’d be best to ask permission before I started climbing through their bushes. I walked into a smoke shop, the shop closest to the bushes, and told the lady behind the counter, who I was and what I do. As I was telling her I needed to look in the bushes for a man’s ring, she interrupted me and said, “I found that and called them, leaving a message, and they never called me back.” Meanwhile, she was looking through a drawer until she found the ring. I compared the picture Terisa sent me to the ring, and I had a match. Easiest and fastest return I’ve had. On the way home I stopped off at the post office and got it in the mail back to Terisa.

Terisa – thank you for allowing me to help find your husband’s ring.

14K White Gold Engagement Ring Lost, Found, and Returned Shallotte NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I received a call on Thursday, June 28th from Katie saying she lost her engagement ring in a lake, the previous Sunday, and wanted to know if I could help. She wasn’t going to be available to show me the area until this Sunday due to her work schedule. We were going back and forth with text messages, and I asked her if she could send me a google earth map with the location. She also sent me a picture she had taken after she lost her ring. To try and get a better idea of the exact spot, I drew some lines on her picture and sent it back. She followed up with a revised view and confirmed the approximate place with a friend she had been with at the time of the loss. I didn’t have anything else going on today, Friday, so I told her I give it a try.
I got there today to start the search, and was greeted by a big warning sign saying “Alligators and other Wildlife are present in & around our lakes.” Not very comforting, but I haven’t heard of anybody getting eaten around the area, so I just kept my eyes open and paid real close attention to my surroundings. It took me a couple of hours of searching, having to stop twice for thunderstorms passing through. It wasn’t a big area, but I wasn’t having any luck finding her ring. After the second storm moved through, I, again, walked straight out from where she thought her ring was. When I got to just about waist deep, I got a solid 45 ID on the AT PRO, which was within the range of a small white gold ring. A couple of scoops and I had it. I sent Katie a text with the picture of her ring and said; BA-BOOM! I wasn’t getting a response from her, so I called her. When she answered, I asked her if she had read my text, to which she said, no. I told her to check her text, and when she did she said something like, “my baby!” I could hear her co-workers in the background sharing her excitement. She was getting off work, so we agreed on a meeting spot so she could get her “baby” back. When we met, I asked her for her story. As she told it, she was supposed to meet her fiancé for lunch, but instead went swimming with her friends, and that’s when she lost it. Everything is better now or should be once she tells him the ring is back where it belongs.
Katie, thanks for trusting in me to help find your lost treasure. Best of luck to you and your fiancé!!

Diaper and Memories out the Window, Clarkton, NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

On January 27th, I noticed I had a missed call and a voice mail on my cell phone. The voice mail was from Brent, saying that he found me through The Ring Finders website and that his wife had lost a ring. He asked if I would call him back. When I called him, I got the full story.

He had taken his wife and very young son out to dinner the evening before. On the way home, his son had one of “those diapers”, every parent knows exactly what I’m talking about, one of those been there, done that, moments.  Brent’s wife, Allie was in the back seat and changed the baby. Unfortunately, it got to be a little overwhelming and Allie was compelled to toss it out the window. When she did, her beautiful 18K diamond clustered ring went with it. Allie commented to me, something like, she never does anything like that and she was being punished.

My understanding is they pulled over and immediately started searching for it. According to Brent, he went home and got a metal detector that he’d had as a boy. He also enlisted the help of his dad, Andy. He said, they were out there searching, along the side of the road, into the wee hours of the morning.

Brent text me the nearest address to the location and told me his dad would meet me out there. I plugged the address into my GPS and started the hour plus drive.

I got there a little before his dad and was driving slow along the side of the road looking for a diaper. I finally parked and was walking along the side of the road when his dad pulled up. I followed him down the road a little further where we parked, got out, and introduced ourselves. He walked me over to the spot where I started searching the ditch around the diaper. Andy was walking along the road looking for the ring and in less than a minute, Andy said, “Look what I found.” He was probably 10 feet from me and a foot off the road. I took a picture of the ring and sent it to Brent saying “look familiar” and telling him his dad found it. He quickly responded saying “Are u kidding me. That’s great!” We worked it out that I’d drop it off at his house and surprise Allie. I followed Andy to Brent’s house and waited about a minute for Brent to show up.

I met Allie and told her Brent had called me saying that she lost a ring and asked her to describe it to me. I had it over my little finger with my hand in my pocket and as she’s describing it I held my hand up in the air.

She was very excited.

Andy, thank you, for your help!!
