This Ring Find began when I was called by the Aulani Beach Team. They told me a guest lost her White Gold with Diamonds Engagement ring somewhere in the dry sand by their beach chairs. I told them I was doing a scuba hunt for a ring the next morning at the resort next door. Since I would be waiting for the sunrise I said I’d hunt for their ring first. The beach team gave me a 2nd row umbrella 4 location to start. When I arrived the next morning it was still dark so I moved all the location chairs out of the way first then I grabbed the Nox from my car and started the hunt. No ring in that box. Puzzled I noticed a guy sitting nearby drinking a cup of coffee intently watching me. I asked him if it was his wife that lost the ring and he said « No » but he saw the couple last night tearfully sifting sand looking for her lost ring. He was positive I was searching in the wrong spot. He was sure it was 3rd row umbrella 5. So I returned the other lounge chairs and cleared the new area. The gentleman walked away wishing me luck and as soon as he said that I got a nice tone on the Nox and in one scoop there was the ring. Thank you for having a messenger on the beach Lord! I informed the beach team of the successful recovery and they called the guest’s room. They said she burst into tears and that’s when I found out Shana from Ohio was only married one day and on her honeymoon when the ring fell off the lounge chair and disappeared. Shana and her husband were very grateful and obviously elated for the recovery. Honeymoon memories! Aloha to Shana!

Hi Joe,
Thank you so much for finding my ring so quickly. We were in full panic especially since we are celebrating our honeymoon.
I cannot thank you enough!
If I ever lose anything back home in Ohio, I may just have to fly you out. Given that you find things so quickly we’d have plenty of time to treat you to a meal and a Cleveland Browns game!
You’ve try made our stay even more magical!

Found my ring. Miraculous ending 45 years ago..
I was 17 yrs old…senior in high school….pleaded with my folks to buy me a class ring for my xmass gift … they did…. it had a smooth rich amber colored stone with starburst cut in the gold base under it….winter was the season…I drove to visit buddy Bob at our corner local full service gas station where he worked nights….. my folks did not want me ever hanging with him… he was too full of trouble, mischief and bad influence….. well I was smoking a cigarette in the dimmed out service garage and suddenly he yelled for me to run out and hide or I would get busted for trespassing and he would get fired as for station owner Don just pulled into the parking lot to use outside doored restroom on his way to a wedding… I sprinted out the bay door and into the unlit plowed up field under construction directly behind it…..it was loaded up with trucks, dozers, earth movers and big piles of dirt, brush gravel….. well when sprinting my ring flung forwards and far off my cold shrunken finger in the dark ….ohhhh noo deep troubles if not found … I marked my spot with a handkerchief and quickly hid behind a dump truck….. owner Don soon left….Bob came out yelled Rich-the coast is clear come on back in and warm up ….I told him I lost my beloved ring…. We looked for an hour …he had their plow trucks bright lights lighting up area and we hand held flashlights….. no ring… next day spent another 2 hours in daylight looking hard…. No ring… didn’t have the nerve to tell the folks…..so then old man winter took a crazy turn… the famous nasty blizzard of 1978 rolled in hard…. 6-10 foot heavy snow drifts ….the few plowed driveways and roads were literally snow tunnels … behind Don’s gas station the construction site sat idle… soon there would be a Denny’s restaurant on it …. only it’s footers and foundation were put in then …. behind it was a plaza and the national guard was using huge pieces of heavy equipment to remove snow from the roads at this intersection and dumping into huge piles in the fields all around and in the construction lot…..ohhh no my ring would either found by a worker/hocked in a pawn shop or was soon to be paved over and entombed in a Denny’s parking lot… I was seriously very heart broken…..folks would have huge distrust in me….weeks later springtime rolled in…. it was a super white blinding bright blue sky day of Easter weekend…. I love to bike ride and peddled up to that intersection by where I lost the ring….I was riding across the street on my way to the library located next to a Byzantine Church that has a huge front lawn… there were 2 guys with state of the art looking metal detectors panning the field where this church used to have annual summer carnivals…(lots of dropped coins and jewelry$$$ ) …. These serious looking metal detectors had sensor disks about 18” in diameter and the guys had expensive looking headphones on… hmmm was this my last chance before the asphalt goes down…? Well in the churches parking lot was a car next to that church’s lawn. ……an elderly woman was in a lawn chair reading the Good Book …hmmmm,,!!!! I pedaled up and said excuse me miss would you happen to be with those gentlemen ….she said yes they are her husband and son….I told her all I have is $25 reward money at home a mile away… do you think they would be willing to go across the street and help find my lost ring????… she had a big smile and said forget the money young man ….. they’ll be happy to help you!!!!!! She waved them over ….. they said meet them at the lot … I did and pointed out the area and direction it flew off …. I was so excited ..!!!!! last chance…..they went on their scan walking out grids ….I stayed by the car and my bike talking to the lady….and let them do their magic… Well after they went back and forth over and over I started to lose all hope and got pretty depressed … after a half hour all they found were pop bottle caps and rusty tin can remnants …. I sadly told this dear kind lady – your guys looked way to hard and long …. Please call them back over ..that’s enough and thank you all so very much for trying.. she looked at me and said “Rich- I don’t know if you pray but please hold may hand –“come on- lets go find your ring” ….. I held her hand and while we silently walked about ten feet into the heavily torn-up field… I was really a bit doubtful and then then suddenly I saw my ring and it was at about 50 feet away !!!!!!!…. Yes fifty feet… the hot blazing sun directly behind us………… I froze like a statue and stared at it squeezing her hand kind hard and started to breath hard ….she says “you just found your ring didn’t you…?”….. a few tears squirted right out of my eyes…. She said ohhh my my my ..keep your eyes on it……she asked where is it…..? ……at first I couldn’t talk(choked up)so all I did was point out across the area to a small upturned grassy mound the size of a sack of potatoes…… she said how do you know it’s there…?….. I said because it just flickered an amber color ray of light at me…!!!!! We walked up to the mound and there it was….. my ring very muddied up after being there 3 months.. it laid loose in a fist sized hollow pocket beneath the dirt clod…… I was trembling and seriously almost fainted ….. she waved her guys over and they said they could not believe this… they said these military metal detectors could find a penny 3 feet under ground … they told me they both scanned that clod pile quite a few times with different settings and not even a blip sound or wiggle of the gages..… told me to please put the ring back in just like I found it …. Both waved their machines over and over… not a single blip…. He took it out and placed next to the mound…. Both units went off loud and strong when scanned ..!!!! They said we never saw such a thing ever happen but it being in a hollow must somehow have masked the signal… this was 45 years ago and I will never forget… I did finally tell my mom the truth of the ring missing before she passed away. I still have the ring in my jewelry box and that handkerchief also reminding me that the power of prayer works and God is all around us listening.
