Tybee Island The Family Heirloom Lost Ring Recovery

A ring of significance and family history. The wedding band that took its own little vacation. While playing in the waves with her children Leah noticed her wedding band had come off. Frantic and unsure what to do the family set about seeing what they could do to resolve this.

I was called by Leahs Aunt to help find the mischievous ring that wanted to play in the waves. I arrived and assured the Aunt I would be the one to find the ring………there were two other detectorists scanning the area. I listened to the aunt tell me of the location and began my search. After four passes, leaving drag marks in the wet sand, Leah came out to me to say she believed they were down the beach about 10-15 feet more. Leahs last words to me when she left me on the beach to search, « What do you think the odds are of finding it? » In my head I thought if your meant to have it, I shall find it…..Verbally, I said the odds are very good as it has only been one day and it should be withing 4-7 inches deep, which is very easy to find……. As Leah went back to the dry sand area to wait, I made two passes and heard the sound every detectorist loves to hear, the sound of gold ringing in their ears, I knew instantly, this was her ring, I dug it out and seen the oh so familiar glint of gold and the description of a wide band gold ring in the sand glistening up at me. The mischievous ring was tired of playing in the sand and wanted to go back to its place upon Leahs finger. I started walking to where the family was, Leah came down to meet me, she asked if I found it, I told her I found a penny…..(which I did) then I said and your ring as I held it out for her. The joy and smile on Leahs face is the part I find so rewarding, a lost treasure returned……….And the roar of Joy from the family on the beach…………………

 

Leah is meant to have this ring and possibly gift it to her daughter one day…………
