On Sunday, March 9th, at Sunset Beach, my wife took off her ring to apply sunscreen and accidentally forgot to put it back on. It wasn’t until we were leaving that we realized her ring was buried somewhere in the sand. Thinking quickly, we asked some nearby residents if they had a metal detector—and luckily, they did!

For a few hours, I scoured the beach with the metal detector, convinced we could find it. We had already shaken our towels and blanket, so we thought it might be lost for good.
