Wedding Ring Lost Doing Yard Work, Moorestown NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

  • from Lavallette (New Jersey, United States)

I received a call from Jason regarding his lost wedding ring, which he believed had come off while doing yard work. Jason explained that he had been raking leaves, dumping them at the curb, and moving between his house, garage, and yard. In between, he had also been playing ball with his son. There was even a chance the ring could have fallen through the deck boards into the leaves below.

Jason was heading out for a long weekend, and with the township potentially vacuuming up the leaves, time was of the essence. I rearranged my schedule to meet him that afternoon. When I arrived, we had about 15 minutes before Jason had an hour-long client meeting, so we quickly reviewed his activities and the specific areas he had been in. He also informed me he borrowed a detector from a friend and had no luck. He also showed me the garage, where he had removed his gloves, and the backyard, where he had been playing with his son.

After gathering my equipment, I set my machine for shallow depth, as the ring wouldn’t be far beneath the surface. I started with the leaf piles at the curb, then made quick passes through the side and front yards, but had no luck. Moving to the backyard, where the most activity had taken place, I received a promising signal on my first pass.

I cleared a few leaves and some dirt to reveal Jason’s wedding ring, just under the surface. It appeared the ring had come off when he removed his catcher’s mitt and accidentally stepped on it, pushing it slightly into the ground.

I messaged Jason immediately, and he came down before his meeting. He was amazed that the ring had been found so quickly. I explained how careful detective work to narrow down the most likely spots was key to a successful recovery. Jason was ecstatic to have his ring back, especially before leaving for his trip.

Another successful recovery!

Necklace lost in the Beach Sand, Ship Bottom NJ, LBI, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Kathleen posted on a local Facebook page, explaining that her son had lost his necklace and pendant during a visit to the beach. Many people responded, recommending she contact me, NJ Ring Finder, ASAP. When we spoke, she explained that the necklace had been lost two days earlier and asked if it was even worth searching for at this point. She shared that the necklace had been a gift from her mother to her son, and he was heartbroken about losing it.

I asked Kathleen to send me the exact location, and I headed out shortly after to begin the search. Within 25 minutes, I had the necklace safely in my sand scoop. It was a lucky find, considering the area was heavily searched and the necklace had been missing for 48 hours.

I took a photo of the necklace and texted it to Kathleen. She was in complete shock that I had found it, especially after so much time had passed. Kathleen had already returned home, and asked if I would meet a family member for the return, which I sincerely agreed. Once the necklace was in her possession she took a few pics and sent them to me to add to her story.

How to find a gold necklace with a metal detector in a lagoon, Beach Haven West NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Lost Necklace Recovered in the Lagoon Just Before Checkout!

I got a call from Matt, who had just wrapped up a relaxing week at the Jersey Shore. As he and his friends were packing up to leave, disaster struck—he dove off the bulkhead earlier that morning and felt his necklace slip right off, dropping straight down into the lagoon between the jet ski dock and the bulkhead.

He found my page and reached out in hopes that I could help, even though they had to check out by noon. I told him I’d rearrange my plans and head over immediately.

When I arrived, Matt showed me exactly where it happened. I got right to work, but the bottom was a mess—old bulkhead parts, a tree stump, and storm debris made swinging my detector tough. With so much metal interference from years of boating and water activities, it was slow going. The water was deep, the sun was blazing, and I was starting to think a dive with my handheld detector might be the only way.

Just as I was about to call it quits, I caught a solid signal—one that stood out from the usual noise. It took several tricky scoops, but then… success! Matt’s beautiful necklace was sitting in my scoop.

I handed up my gear, climbed out of the murky water, and joined the celebration on the dock. Matt and his friends were beyond thrilled, and the joy on their faces made every minute of the struggle worth it. After some happy chatting, they headed off with smiles and one last great memory of their vacation on the Jersey Shore.
