Lost Gold Ring in Mike Lake, Maple Ridge...Found

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I received a call from a young man the other day telling me that he lost a very special ring that was willed to him by a good friend who passed away a couple of years ago. He then went on to say that his friend hired me 3 years ago to find 4 huge gold biker rings that he lost at the work place…I knew right away who he was talking about and I remembered the search like it was yesterday. It’s not often you get a call to find 4 big gold rings! When I found them I remember how excited he was and what it meant to him.

I was sad to hear that JP passed and I was determined to help find this ring for his friend. The hard part was that it was lost in about 7-8 feet of water , the good thing about this search was that the young man knew where he lost it.

I used my custom made extra long handle scoop and with a big bucket on the dock I began the process of scooping the soft and muddy bottom. After 1 hour of dumping the mud into the bucket I heard the sweet sound of  »Clunk » in the bucket…This was even bigger then the 4 I found for JP years ago.

I was video typing the search and for some strange reason most of my footage wasn’t there???

I can tell you this…When it came out of the mud & dirt you could only imagine how good that felt for Matthew…Update I recovered the video footage!

That is an incredible looking ring, and huge wow! I think if I saw that staring back at me in the bottom of the bucket, it might cause me to run. Great find Chris!

Yes it was amazing to find…I knew it was going to be very cool…It only took an hour to scoop up and I would have spent a day looking if I had too!
Could you image finding something like that on your own time…

Nice approach to the recovery, not sure I would have thought about a long handled scoop. I would like to see a close-up of the scoop and handle assembly, would like to add one of those to my equipment list.

I’ll give you a call and discuss the scoop with you John as I had it made special with a couple of attachments. The only way this would work is if the person is very clear on exactly where the item was lost…

Good day « fishing » there Chris! That ring is a monster in more ways than one! You two were making me nervous handling that ring on the dock!

Thanks and yes I was a little nervous but heck it it fell in again I’d just find it again…
