Fathers ashes ring recovered

I was contacted a while back by a gentleman who had lost a very special ring which had been inlaid with  has late fathers ashes in what I presume was a type of resin or mineral.

The gentleman has been carrying out extensive work in his garden which was, lets say in a bit of a state, with debris and trash contaminating the site. There was also remnants of a recent large fire as an area of decking had been removed, so lots of screws and fixings also.

I knew this would be a challenge just by the amount of iron and drinks can remnants in the garden. Maybe because the property was on an approach to a local school.

I rarely use any discrimination while detecting , but this time it was necessary due to the amount of iron.

I was very thorough in my search, going over the entire garden several times over a few hours, so I was getting to thinking this ring wasn’t going to be found, or wasn’t even there.

I then spotted a pebble placed in a flower pot that had been painted with memorial message about his late father. Within a few minutes of seeing the pebble I received a nice clear tone that needed investigating. There it was, pressed into the soft ground, a lovely gold ring with the very special green inlay.

The owner was very pleased to be reunited with this ring, as I was to have recovered it.
