This one gives « track and field » a whole new perspective…I received a phone call from Vicky who lost her ring while at the WPIAL high school track and field championships at Slippery Rock University. She said they parked at one spot, went into the stadium and then had moved the car and parked in a different area. She had no idea where it was lost during her time there. So let’s see – a large event that had hundreds if not thousands of people, at least three possible locations and no clues as to where…piece of cake…well maybe not…I wasn’t feeling it here at the start.
I called and got permission to look for the ring at the stadium and the campus property before heading out. While on my way there Vicky went over to talk to the Slippery Rock campus police who came up with the great idea of checking security footage. Sure enough they were able to locate her going into the stadium and as luck would have it, she had her ring on. This was big, it eliminated one search area off the bat. However, on the way out Vicky had on gloves so we did not know if it was in the stadium or not.
So I met Vicky at the stadium and checked the grassy areas where she had been. The track has small grassy areas, but as you can imagine, with lots of metal and chain link fence around. I searched as best as I could and no luck. So we crossed off the track and went to the field. After moving the car they had parked in a grass field above the stadium. There isn’t much suspense here as we know the ring was found. It was in the high grass in the area where they had parked. She was elated to have her ring back I was happy to be on board in 2022 with my first find of the year!!
I’d like to give a big shout out to the Slippery Rock Police Department and thank them for the assist. They were awesome and checking those cameras was huge…Public Service at it’s finest!!
