I received a call in regards to a lost diamond earring in a park, after asking a few questions it sounded like we’d have success finding this as long as someone else didn’t beat us to it.
I blasted off to the location and met the ladies husband who showed me the precise area where she believed the earring had come off due to her granddaughter accidentally pulling it off while she was holding her.
I did my first passover of the area with no success. I cross grid and still no success. The young man called his wife, I could hear him disappointed thinking it wasn’t there, but this is a very small item and you have to be patient. It took about 10 minutes and I found her beautiful diamond earring.
I understand Metal Detecting because I’ve been doing it for over 50 years. Miss it by an inch miss it by a mile, you gotta go low and slow, and you have to exhaust the area. It was so nice to see his smile and hear the story of what that earring meant to his wife. I love my job.
