Tungsten Wedding Ring Lost In The Ocean Park Beach Sand, Found With A Metal Detector In Old Orchard Beach, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)
? ????? ???? ???????: ???????? & ?????? #? ?? ??? ???!?
What a day July 11th turned out to be! I was already running on pure adrenaline after completing two successful ring rescues earlier in the day. Just as I was wrapping up, my phone buzzed with an urgent text from a local Old Orchard Beach resident named Brittany.
She was looking for her husband Trent’s lost wedding band, but she knew the odds were heavily stacked against them.
???? ?? ??? ????? ??????? ???????? ???? ??:
???
“???? ?? ? ???? ????! ???? 48 +?????. ?? ??????? ???? ??? ??????? ???? ?? ???? ????. ???????? ????? ????? ????????. ??????? ?? ???? ????? ????????. ?? ??? ??? ??????? ????? ?????? ??? ? ???? ????? ???? ????. ?? ??? ?????? 5:30 ?? ???????? ????? ?? ???? ???? ????? ???? ?????? ?????. ?? ???? ??? ???????? ?? ??? ??? ??? ?????? ????? ?????? ??? ???? ???????? ?????? ??? ??? ?????? ???????? ???????? ???? ??? ????? ???? ???? ????? ???? ??? ?????. ???????? ???? ???? ???? ???. 6??. ? ??????? ?? ??? ?? ???????? ?????? ?? ???. ?????????? ??? ????!”
??? ???? ??????? ???? ?? ??? ??? ????⏳
While Brittany’s text mentioned swimming, it turned out Trent’s ring actually slipped off up in the dry sand right along their towel line. In many ways, this made the situation even more urgent.
This is a heavily used, packed summer beach. For over 48 hours, that heavy tungsten ring sat exposed to countless feet. Our biggest fears? A passerby spotting it, another metal detectorist scooping it up, or worse—the massive beach-cleaning rakes scooping it into the trash during a morning sweep.
Funny thing about this ring—it’s a bit of a traveler! Trent and Brittany have only been married for one year, but Trent had actually lost this exact same ring once before on a cruise earlier this year. They managed to find it themselves on the ship, but lightning had just struck twice in Ocean Park!
??? ?????? & ? ??? ?? ??? ????? ?
I headed straight out and immediately met Trent down at Ocean Park. Having him there was a massive help—he walked me right to the exact spot where he and Brittany had set up their towels and chairs.
As I started a meticulous grid search through the dry sand, we weren’t alone. A family was still enjoying the beach that night, including Kim, who happened to be a big fan of The Ring Finders of Maine! She was incredibly excited to watch the live search unfold right in front of her.
Suddenly, a beautiful, crisp signal hit my headphones. I moved the top layer of sand, and there it was—the heavy, 6mm tungsten ring with its distinct gold rim, completely safe from the rakes and crowds. I flipped it over, checked the inside, and confirmed the initials: BJG.
????????? ????????! ??
The moment the ring was pulled from the sand, Trent raised his arms, victoriously, into the air. He then gave me a high five ? and a big hug? . Kim and her family broke out into immediate applause ? ! It was such an awesome, high-energy moment on the beach.
Handing the ring right back to Trent on the spot was the perfect ending to an unbelievable day. This marked my third successful recovery and return in a single day! There is truly no better feeling than saving a piece of family history just in the nick of time and handing it back to grateful local residents.
A huge thank you to Kim for your wonderful support and for cheering us on! Welcome home, Trent’s ring (again)! ?

Newlywed’s Engagement Ring Lost In The Beach Sand, Found With A Metal Detector, In Ocean Park, Maine Old Orchard Beach

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? FOUND AT THE BEACH! ?✨

Talk about a rollercoaster of a day for a couple of newlyweds!

On July 11th, Jen and her husband Ryan—married for just one single month—were enjoying a beautiful Maine summer day on the beach in Ocean Park, Maine with 15 to 20 of their closest family and friends.

Suddenly, the unthinkable happened. Jen went to remove her engagement ring, and it ????????? ???? ????? ??? ??? ??????, vanishing deep into the sand somewhere in front of her. ?

The entire group jumped into action, searching the sand, but couldn’t find a trace of it. That’s when someone in the crowd made the brilliant suggestion to call The Ring Finders of Maine! ?

When the call came in, I was actually an hour away at Sebago Lake Maine , knee-deep in a water search for another lost wedding ring. I told the Ocean Park crew that Cheryl and I would head their way the second I finished.

Talk about luck—just 5 minutes later, I recovered the ring at Sebago Lake!

I immediately called Jen’s group back to let them know we were on our way. I gave them two crucial pieces of advice: ???? ?????????? ??? ????, ??? ???? ??? ???? ????? ???? ??????? ?? ??????.

When we arrived in Ocean Park an hour later, the whole group warmly greeted us. Jen showed me exactly where she was standing and the direction the ring flew.

And let me tell you, this group did a phenomenal job—they used children’s beach toys to create a large circle around the entire hot zone! A truly brilliant move. ??️

I kicked off my grid search at the top of the toy circle, working my way down toward the ocean. I finished my first pass, turned around, and started heading back toward the shore.

About 3/4 of the way back…????! I got the exact tone I was hoping for on my metal detector. ?

I pulled out my pinpointer, cleared the sand, and pulled out Jen’s beautiful engagement ring!

The second the ring cleared the sand, the entire beach exploded into cheering and clapping! ??

The heavy tension in the air instantly evaporated, replaced by pure joy and relief.

????’? ?????? ?? ???? ???? ?? ??? ????? ??? ?? ????? ??? ????? ?????? ???? ??????? ?????? ????? ???? ???????? ??? ??????! ??? ?????? ??? ?????????? ??????????!?
Congratulations again to Jen and Ryan on your recent wedding! I am so incredibly happy I could help save your summer day and bring that beautiful ring back where it belongs.

Moments like this remind us every day: ?? ???? ??? ???? ??? ?? ??? ?????, ?? ???? ??? ???!❤️

Father’s Gold Heirloom Wedding Ring Lost In Sebago Lake, Found With A Metal Detector, in Standish, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? LOST HEIRLOOM ON SEBAGO LAKE! ?

? A 56-Year-Old Father’s Legacy, Saved From the Sand! ?

I received a phone call from Angela on July 8th. ?

She and her husband, Bill, had been enjoying an absolutely gorgeous Maine summer day at Rich Memorial Beach in Standish, Maine. ?️

This beach is a private beach on Sebago Lake Maine, just for Standish Maine residents. I knew this beach well from a two-ring search last summer.

? THE HEARTBREAK
Angela told me that Bill was in the water, in about three feet of water, when his wedding ring fell into the lake. ?

Bill had felt and seen the ring falling into the water but just couldn’t catch it in time. After searching the sandy area where he had been standing for over an hour, he gave up and left for home.

Angela then told me that this wedding ring is not only Bill’s, but that this ring was also Bill’s late father’s wedding ring. Bill was very concerned that the ring wouldn’t be found. ?

⏱️ RACE AGAINST THE CLOCK

WOW!!! Another family heirloom lost, and I wanted to find this badly.

It was now just after 5:00 pm. By the time I loaded up my equipment and drove the 45-50 minutes up there, I wouldn’t have much time at all to search. ⏱️

Even though Bill and Angela knew the area the ring was in, it was just cutting it too close for a proper grid search before the beach closed for the day.

Rich Memorial Beach was reopening at 9:30 am in the morning. I agreed to meet them there as the beach opened and before it got busy. ?

? THE SEARCH BEGINS

Cheryl and I arrived at the beach just prior to 9:30 am. Bill and Angela were already there in the parking lot. After a few pleasantries, we all went straight down to the beach.

It was another beautiful day and the beach was not crowded yet. With only 5-6 people there, it was a perfect situation to search. ?

I wouldn’t be bothering any of the members, and the area I needed to search wouldn’t be disturbed.

If the area were full of swimmers and waders, the ring could possibly be moved to deeper water or pushed deeper into the soft sandy bottom, making a recovery more difficult.

Thankfully, we had this area of the beach to ourselves. ?

As I was putting my gear on, Bill and Angela were pointing out the area where the ring should be.

I could tell by the way Bill talked about his and his father’s ring just how much this ring meant to him. The love for his father was very obvious, and even though Bill was putting up a strong front, he wanted this family heirloom back. ❤️

Only one thing to do now—let’s go find this 56-year-old family heirloom ring! ?

? THE FIRST TARGETS

I entered Sebago Lake, and even at this early time of day, the water was very warm and comfortable. Perfect!!! ☀️

As I walked out to the area, I asked the couple a few questions. « Were you this far out? Were you this far over? »

I wanted to start just a little further to the north and just a foot or so deeper in the water than Bill had been. I would grid search from north to south, parallel with the shore. ?️

When I passed the spot Bill had been in, Bill and Angela would let me know. At that point, I would take half a step toward the shore, turn around, and then head north toward the area I started in.

The water was so very, very clear. I was hoping to see the ring on the bottom, but as we all know, once a ring is in the sand, 99% of the time you won’t see it.

As I started my first pass of the grid search, I was praying I would find this ring fast and get it back on Bill’s finger. ?

I was just a few minutes into the first pass when I received my first target. It was a nice, low tone that I had hoped to hear. ?

I took a scoop of sand and sifted it out, leaving many small rocks. I didn’t see a ring, and actually, I didn’t see any metal at all.
I rechecked the hole, and the target was gone. After searching the scoop and hole a second time, still nothing.

I surmised it was a small piece of aluminum that had made its way out of my scoop through one of the holes. That happens all the time with very small pieces of metal. ?

✨ FLASH OF GOLD!

Okay, back to the search.
I took about 2–3 steps and received another target, and this one was louder. ?

I took a scoop of sand, and as I was sifting it out and bringing it out of the water for a look, I caught a glimpse of gold! ✨

I now had the scoop out of the water, and I could see a gold ring!

I reached into the scoop, fumbling around the rocks, and grabbed the wedding ring. ?

With Bill, Angela, and Cheryl on shore, I asked, “Did you say it was yellow gold?”
I held the ring up so all could see, and Bill said, “You’re the man!” ?

WOW!!! Not even 5 minutes, and I felt great knowing Bill would be putting his and his father’s ring back on. The stress and anxiety for Bill and Angela was now over. ?

? A MOMENT OF PANIC?

As I was walking out of the water, I could see the big smiles on their faces. ?‍?‍?

When I arrived on shore, I held the ring up and said, “Is that it?”
Bill started walking toward me, looked at the ring, and said, “That’s… Oh, that’s not it.” ?

He then quickly said, as he took the ring, “Yeah, yeah, that’s it!” ?

We were all laughing at this point, and thankfully, Bill and Angela were no longer worried about this very sentimental, cherished wedding ring.

? THE POWER OF A STORY

The couple told Cheryl and me that when Bill’s father passed away many years ago, Bill received his dad’s wedding ring. ?️

When Bill and Angela were married 23 years ago, there was no question that Bill would wear his father’s ring to honor and show his love for his father.

I often mention that every ring has a story, and this ring’s story shows a love and legacy between a father and son that, after all these years, is as strong as it has ever been. ?

We are so proud to be able to help people like Bill and Angela in their time of need. We have the best job in the world. We love our job. ?

Gold Diamond Hoop Earring Lost In The Sand, Found With A Metal Detector In Old Orchard Beach, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? LOST GOLD & DIAMOND EARRING IN THE SAND! ?

I received a frantic text on Tuesday evening at 5:50 PM.

“Hello. I’m staying at the ‘On The Beach Motel’ in Old Orchard. I lost a gold hoop diamond earring… My husband gave them to me. He passed away two years ago, so this is more upsetting than it may have been otherwise. Is this something you can try to help with?” ?

I immediately replied:

“Hi, this is Dennis from The Ring Finders of Maine. I’m on the road but will be back in the area around 6:30 PM.

Do you still have the matching earring for a photo? Small gold earrings are very difficult to find.

Do you have a specific area on the beach to search, or do you think it’s in the water?”

She texted back:

“I did step into the water. We are out getting dinner right now, but we had a beach setup and I know exactly where it was.”

⏱️ The Race Against Time

I texted back right away:
“Ok, I want to search tonight as soon as you get back. My main concern is that another detectorist might find it, or the beach-cleaning machine will scoop it up at 5:00 AM. If it gets scooped by the machine, it will be gone forever.

”Claire later told me that the incredible office staff at the motel were the ones who told her to call me. ?

? An Emotional Plea

Through tears, Claire explained to Cheryl and me that this earring was a precious gift from her husband, who passed away two years ago.

She told us these earrings weren’t just jewelry; in a sense, they were her husband. She was physically sick not knowing where it was. ?

Her family had already torn the hotel room and the car apart. They even searched the dry sand by hand. Nothing. It had to be on the beach.

My primary mission tonight was the dry sand. We had to clear the area before the 5:00 AM beach cleaner arrived.

Alright, let’s go find this earring! ??️?

The Search Begins
Claire took us down to the exact spot where her family had set up for the day. She knew the area perfectly.

Once the boundaries were set, I started grid searching parallel to the water, moving from south to north.

Claire continued searching the dry sand by eye, constantly staring out at the ocean waves, praying it wasn’t out in the deep water.

At the end of my first pass, I only found a crusty old dime.

?✨ A Shocking Low Tone

I turned around and headed south, keeping an eye on Claire as she watched the waves.

Suddenly, a loud, low tone blasted through my headphones! ?J

Just what I was hoping to hear.

The Target Identification (TID) read a solid 07. That is exactly in the small gold range.I carefully brushed the sand away, and there it was: the glittering gold earring! ✨

? The Setup & Surprise

Claire hadn’t noticed me finding the earring because she was still looking out toward the ocean.

I glanced over at Cheryl and mouthed, « I’ve got it, get video! » ?

With Cheryl’s video rolling, I pretended to continue searching as I walked closer to Claire. »

Can you point to exactly where you were standing in the water? »
I asked her.

As she turned toward the ocean and pointed, I held the earring up right in front of me, waiting for her to turn back around.

? The Floodgates Open

It worked perfectly!

When Claire turned back to face me, she saw her beloved earring dangling right in front of her. The floodgates completely opened.?❤️

She walked slowly toward me, crying tears of pure happiness and relief.

As I placed the earring back into her hand, she gasped, « I can’t believe it. I really can’t believe you found it. »

She wrapped me in a massive hug, the happy tears still rolling down her face.

What an emotional return! She finally had both of her precious earrings back together. ?‍❤️‍?

Just then, her son Mickey walked onto the beach.

Claire proudly yelled to him, « He found it! Can you believe it?!

« Mickey broke into a huge smile and said, « You’ve got to be kidding me! »

?Claire then admitted to me, « I almost didn’t call you. I thought it was gone forever. » Thankfully, she did!

? The Best Job in the World

As Cheryl and I walked off the beach, Claire was proudly telling everyone around her that she got her earring back. She had the biggest smile on her face.

I truly have the best job in the world. I love my job!

Sentimental Sterling Silver Ring Lost in Goose Rocks Beach, Found In The Kennebunkport Maine Sand

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? Starfish Ring Rescue at Goose Rocks Beach! ⭐

? Heartbroken to Happy: A Magical Maine Beach Recovery! ✨

I received the following text on Monday, June 29th, at 7:02 PM:

? “Good evening! We are over at Goose Rocks Beach and my granddaughter lost her brand-new sterling silver ring in the soft sand where we were sitting. Could you help us? She is heartbroken. We are at *** King’s Highway down on the western end. Thank you.”

? I called back rather than texting because it is faster to get the details, and it was getting late.

? I prefer to search in daylight but will search with my headlamp if needed. I was able to get right through and talk to Cam, the person who had sent me the text.

?️ Cam told me that she and her grandchildren had spent a wonderful Maine summer day at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport Maine. Cam and her eldest granddaughter, Hattie, had just purchased matching sterling silver starfish rings that they each wear.

⭐ While at the beach, Hattie had taken her ring off and placed it on her beach blanket to build sandcastles and go in the water. When it was time to leave, the beach blanket was picked up along with everything else, and the family returned home.

? It was only later that Hattie realized she didn’t have her matching silver ring on. Remembering she had placed it on the blanket, Hattie and her grandmother went back to the beach, but their search for the ring was in vain. The ring was now under the sand somewhere.

? I told Cam that I would be right down to help her as soon as I loaded the vehicle up. It would take 30–40 minutes to load up and drive to Kennebunkport Maine. I just had to find this ring.

❤️ Gary and I both know how precious grandchildren are. When a young granddaughter wears a matching ring with you, it primarily symbolizes unconditional love, a lifelong bond, and a special family connection. At this age, children look up to their grandparents as heroes, and wearing matching jewelry is a powerful way to express that close relationship.

? Now, let’s go find Hattie’s special ring!

? Cheryl and I jumped in the vehicle and arrived at Goose Rocks Beach in about 35 minutes. We were promptly met by Cam and her grandchildren, including Hattie.

?️ Cheryl and I followed the family down onto the beach where they had set up for the day. The sandcastles were still present nearby. The area was small, and I knew the search would not take long at all. I was just hoping the ring was here and hadn’t been moved out of the area when the blanket was shaken off.

?‍♀️ Now, all I needed was a person to man the pinpointer, and Hattie volunteered to assist in finding her ring.

?️ So, with my metal detector in hand, the search began. I would search from the western side of the beach and go east, toward the water. If it wasn’t found, I would then turn and head west, repeating this grid search until the ring was located.

❌ On my first pass, I didn’t get even one target.

? At the end of my second pass, I received a nice, loud signal reading 78–79 on my TID (Target Identification) screen. This is definitely the TID for a small sterling silver ring, but also the classic dime TID on my Minelab Manticore metal detector.

? Now it was time for the pinpointer person, and Hattie jumped right into the sand with it. As Hattie expertly moved her pinpointer around the sand, she received a beep and reached down.

✨ Finally, we caught a glimpse of silver, and Hattie grabbed her ring as Cam and the other two grandchildren started clapping in excitement and happiness!

?? Hattie told me, “Thank you so much,” and gave me a high-five. ✋

? Cam said, “We went all over this beach.” But, as you all know, once a ring is in the sand, it is extremely difficult to see and find.”

?‍♂️ With everyone happy, smiling, and doing cartwheels, we headed off the beach knowing that Hattie and her grandmother’s special matching sterling silver starfish rings are once again back on both fingers where they belong.

? It was so wonderful to see the joy in Hattie’s eyes and the look on her face as we walked off the beach. All was good in her world once again.

?❤️ I love my job—it’s the best job in the world.

? Remember, “If it matters to you, it matters to us.”
