Bill contacted me about doing a search at his property where his home had succumbed to the fire in January. He was most interested in finding his wife’s wedding and engagement rings. We arranged a day and time to meet, and I was able to go.

When I got there Bill was already at the property. I introduced myself, and began asking questions, wanting to know where the rings had been, and where he thought I should look. His wife was on the way, but we got started right away. Bill showed me the area where he remembered last seeing the jewelry box, and we ran an estimated area of the search. I donned my safety gear, and began moving the big stuff out of the way in order to get to finer debris. When Bill’s wife Lourdes arrived, she came over to say that I was looking in the wrong area, and that I should be looking on the other side of the room. She showed me where she believed the rings should be. and that’s where I began. It wasn’t that Bill was wrong because there was a jewelry box where he remembered, but what he didn’t know was that his wife put her rings elsewhere. Knowing where to look is very important in these searches. I began working through the debris shovelful by shovelful, and noticed that Bill and Lourdes had left. Not long after, I found the wedding ring and placed in a container. When they returned Lourdes came up and asked how things were going, and I showed her the ring I found. She got very excited and hopeful that the other ring would be found. About 15 minutes later I was able to find the engagement ring, which pretty much made their day. They had lost everything, but I was able to help them find a precious memory, and bring a little joy back in their lives.

LOST DIAMOND RING AND GOLD JEWELRY IN THE PALISADES FIRE FOUND AND RETURNED.

  • from Santa Monica (California, United States)

I was on a search for Teresa in the Palisades fire last week that was successful. Her aunt lived in her own room in the same house, and lost a big diamond ring and other gold jewelry, I was asked to search for her jewelry as well. There was a lot of debris, in her corner of the house, that had to be removed, once that was out of the way. I started sifting and began finding her jewelry, there was a large diamond ring, a gold lapis ring, several other gold rings, some gold and silver necklaces, two gold bracelets, two watches, several pairs of gold earrings as well. I found over 30 pieces of jewelry in total. Teresa’s aunt was so happy to have it back. She told me that she thought it was gone forever, and was   amazed  that I was able to find it under the rubble and ash.
