Lost Gold Chain and Gold Coin Pendant Found at Lake Tahoe

Gold Chain with Gold Coin Pendant Recovered and Returned to Owner!
When I’m out metal detecting, the number one question I get is “What is the most valuable thing you’ve found?”, well as of this morning I have a clear answer.
Three days ago I noticed a Facebook post about a gold chain lost on July 4th at Pope Beach, Lake Tahoe. Lesson to everyone out there, if you lose something valuable and metal DON’T post the location you lost it at—the Sand Pirates will find it and keep it!
I contacted the person who lost the chain and I offered to help find it. After a series of exchanges we coordinated a meeting at the gold chain loss location—8:30am this morning at Pope Beach. Thank goodness he chose to meet me, only with his onsite precise identification of where he went swimming, allowed this recovery to happen.
It took two hours of searching underwater with my XP Deus 2 metal detector and Blu3 Nemo dive system to find this gold chain and gold coin pendant.
Needless to say, the owner was happy!

Lost Platinum Wedding Ring Recovered at Glenbrook, Lake Tahoe

July 4, 2026: A text was sent at 10:35AM about a platinum wedding ring lost in the beach sand at Glenbrook. At 10:35AM I was underwater, at Kings Beach, searching for another ring. I didn’t read the text until 12:06PM when I got back to my truck. I advised the client I could be at the search location in 45 minutes. With July 4th traffic, I didn’t arrived until shortly after 1PM. The client showed me the ring loss location—a small patio sized beach. The stone and concrete retaining wall was causing some interference for my XP Deus 2 metal detector. After two passes I got a solid repeatable signal. At 1:14PM, I used my pinpointer and hand to reveal the lost platinum wedding ring. Ring recovered in less than three hours from being notified by the client’s first text.

Lost Gold Ring Found Lake Tahoe

June 25, 2026: Lost Gold Ring Recovered at Nevada Beach, Lake Tahoe. Got a call at 5:18pm about a lost gold ring at the north end of Nevada Beach, Lake Tahoe, near the kayak rentals. I arrived at 6:27pm to begin searching. Fortunately the client was able to meet me at Nevada Beach and we began retracing her steps from the parking lot to their beach hangout area under a tree just south of the kayak rentals. The client explained that this ring was very special being given by her mother. Not detecting any serious targets at the parking lot, along the boardwalk, and along the beach path towards the large pine tree, I felt more confident that the ring would likely be at their hangout area. Within three swings of my XP deus 2 metal detector, I got a solid 82 VDI. Reaching down, I scooped a handful of sand revealing a shiny beautiful gold ring.

Lost Ring Found Mount Rose Ski Tahoe

Lost Cartier Wedding Ring Recovered at Mount Rose Ski Area, Lake Tahoe, Nevada – March 30, 2026.
Got a call at 9:30am requesting a search for a lost wedding ring buried in the snow on one of the ski runs at the Mount Rose Ski Area.
The owner of the ring texted over aerial images with six ski-run locations highlighted where he might have lost his ring.
Arriving at 4:30pm to begin the search, my main concern was the snowcats moving snow to cover ski-run bare spots during the 48 hours since the ring loss. By the time I started searching the fourth possible location, that concern was beginning to seem likely.
Finally I got a solid 79 VDI on my XP Deus 2 metal detector. A quick search with my pinpointer revealed the lost Cartier Ring under 3 to 4 inches of Snow. Ring found at 5:44pm, less than 9 hours after being notified.

Lost Ring Found, Castle Rock Trail, Lake Tahoe

4:52pm, March 2nd, 2026, I received a text requesting a lost ring search on the Castle Rock Trail. This scenic trail is a one mile hike to a rock outcrop that provides spectacular views of Lake Tahoe. With the trailhead at 7,400+ feet in altitude, I expected a good amount of snow along the trail and the search area. The text included a description of how the ring was lost and satellite images with pinned gps coordinates.
March 3rd, around 8:30am, I arrived at the trailhead with metal detecting equipment and snowshoes. Fortunately the night-time temperatures were cold enough to create a frozen top crust on the deep snow and I didn’t need to use the snowshoes. The hike to the search site was just short of a mile with a little over 400 feet of elevation gain. With minimal cellular reception, it took a little extra time to locate the pinned gps coordinates. Within 10 minutes of searching, a solid repeatable signal was located. A quick dig in the snow revealed the lost ring. So within 15 hours of being notified, the ring was recovered. I scheduled a meetup with the ring owner that afternoon in Carson City, so the total time from being notified to the return of the ring was less than 24 hours.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring Recovered at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe!

At 2:18pm I received a ring recovery search request located at the south overlook parking area of Emerald Bay. Backstory: The client and family—tourists visiting Lake Tahoe—stopped at the south overlook parking area of Emerald Bay around 10am. The client climbed up on the snow embankment and began reaching into the snow with his hands and at some point his wedding ring slipped off his hand. The client and his family searched for several hours before calling me. Since the client and family planned on returning to the Bay Area that afternoon, I needed to get to the search location ASAP. Additionally, since I was an hour and a half away, I needed to begin searching before sunset. Arriving just after 4pm, and dealing with the hectic parking situation, I finally connected with the client. After getting all the ring loss details from the client, I jumped onto the snow embankment and switched on the XP Deus 2. Within a minute, I got a solid target signal with a VDI of 71. I scooped up a handful of snow and used the pinpointer to confirm the target was in my hand. Crushing the snow clump revealed a 14k gold ring with diamonds.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring Recovered —in the water—Tahoe Vista, Lake Tahoe, California!

January 1st, 2026: The Client and his wife went Polar Plunging in Lake Tahoe. The video showed him wearing the wedding ring as he entered the water and few minutes later he realized the ring was missing, apparently falling off his finger in waist deep water. Later that evening, the Client contacted me—Trevor Oxborrow, to schedule a lost ring water search.
January 2nd, 2026: 9:30am I arrived at the Tahoe Sands beachside resort to begin the search. The air temperature was 40 degrees Fahrenheit with an estimated water temperature of 48 degrees Fahrenheit. The Client described the ring loss circumstances and search zone. I geared-up with my wetsuit, blu3 Nemo and XP Deus 2. Thirty minutes into the grid search I got the perfect target signal, but typically it was just a dang old pull-tab. Five minutes later I got another solid target….dug my scoop deep….sieved out the sand….there it was….a brilliant yellow and white gold 14k wedding ring. Client and wife were very happy.
Another great day at Lake Tahoe!

My first ring recovery of 2026!
Client contacted me on Instagram yesterday, 12/31/25, with a lost ring search request in his back-yard with 12+ inches of snow. Backstory: Client and friends were throwing snowballs in the back yard, during which one of the client’s friends noticed her gold ring was missing.
I arrived at 10am today, 1/1/26, and once the client explained the location and circumstances of the ring loss, I turned on my XP Deus 2 and began the search. On the fifth swing, I got a solid target with a VDI of 60. Scooped a handful of snow and used the pinpointer to reveal a thin gold ring. Client was happy with the quick search and recovery.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring Found in the Sierra Nevada Mountains

Lost Ring Recovered in the Snow!

Received a call yesterday, (December 28, 2025), of a lost gold wedding ring — in the snow — 26 miles west of Truckee, California in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The client and wife — recently married — were returning home, via Interstate 80, from their honeymoon trip to Reno. At Yuba Gap, they decided to stop at a sledding hill to check out the fresh snow from the recent Pineapple Express Storm. The client started scooping snow with his hands and tossing snowballs resulting in the loss of his wedding ring somewhere on the slope above his parked truck. I arrived an hour and forty minutes after receiving the client’s call, having driven 71 miles from South Lake Tahoe. The client showed me the area where he had been scooping snow and within a couple of minutes got a solid target with a VDI of 62.
Success! The 14k white gold ring was returned to the happy newlywed couple.

Lost Platinum Ring Recovered at Lakeside Beach, South Lake Tahoe

At 7:05 pm, the night before Thanksgiving, I received a message about a lost ring at Lakeside Beach, South Lake Tahoe. According to the client, that afternoon he lost his platinum ring throwing a football with family members on the beach.
At 8:10 am, Thanksgiving morning, I arrived at Lakeside Beach and began a grid search of the pinned location.
At 8:20 am the client with two family members arrived at the beach. After recounting the previous day’s movements, they collectively revised the search area.
I started a new grid search and literally within 2 minutes got a solid target signal near one of the picnic tables. I didn’t even need the scoop, I just reached down and sifted the sand with my fingers—Lost platinum ring found!
The client was blown away with the speed of the recovery.
A great way to start a Thanksgiving morning with a lost ring recovery.
