Teacher learns 2 new lessons!

  • from Oklahoma City (Oklahoma, United States)

Got a text from Jay, a local teacher. He was adding some mulch around his yard yesterday and noticed his ring missing. He told me that it was a silver band and gave me a couple of places where he thought it was. I proceeded to work the areas he pointed out but was having no luck. We decided to dump the planters out on a tarp and look for it that way. Bingo! Found in less than 5 minutes. I was a little confused about the numbers that showed up on my machine as it sure didn’t come up as silver. I looked at the inner area and it was actually 14K white gold! So, now he learned not only that he has a gold ring but to take off his ring whenever he works in the yard!

Plans go awry!

Got an email from a young man who was out at the local park that had a pond and was giving his fiance an engagement ring. They had brought the dog with them and well the dog went one way and the ring went the other. They had spent several hours looking and even got a detector to try it on their own but no luck. I met them out there and looked and looked. Couldn’t find it in the area around the pond but kept getting a really good signal in the water’s edge that they had searched by hand the day before. Now this part of the pond is a sudden drop off to about 1 foot down so he sunk his hand back in there as i told him to just grab handfuls of the dirt and muck and bring it up and i will scan it. After about 4 or 5 handfuls I picked up that same signal but he just didn’t believe it was there until he started really mushing around – there it was!

Paying it forward

Got a call from a gentleman that was helping a local women’s shelter build a new patio in the backyard. Seems he and a few members of a local church were helping with the build and he was using a ground pounder to compact the dirt for the patio bricks and of course his hands went numb and he didn’t feel the ring fall off. They had looked and looked for it but he hadn’t noticed it was gone from his hand until after all the dirt was dug and the patio bricks laid. He called me and we set up a time for us to meet. After about 20 minutes I was able to find the ring. It was just below the ground at the edge of the yard and luckily not under the pavers!

Class ring

  • from Oklahoma City (Oklahoma, United States)

I was at a local park a few weeks ago and found a class ring.  When I got home I looked it up and found it was from Wisconsin! I was able to track down the owner who had it stolen a few months after he got it.  He was very happy to see it.ring2
