Sentimental Wedding Ring Recovered in Sand at Seal Beach, CA. .. Using a Metal Detector

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

*** It was a Wednesday after a day at work, Jared and his took his son to Seal Beach, CA. for a walk on the beach just before sunset. It’s winter and the city has a 20ft. sand berm built up to protect beach front homes from high surf.

They took a few minutes to play around on the steep sand berm while leaving the beach. Jared felt his ring slip from his finger immediately disappearing in the sand. It was cold, getting dark and  they had to get home for dinner. Jared felt he may have a better chance to find his ring the next day as it’s only a couple miles from his home.

Using the internet to get ideas on how to find a ring in the sand, he found my information on TheRingFinders website. He called right away, which I recommend for items lost on the beach. Jared told me where and what had happened. I knew exactly where the loss had happened because I lived a block away for over 20 years.

We met at the beach a half hour after the call. Jared showed me the general area. I turned on my metal detector backing away 15 or 20ft. to get a few practice swings. BOOM! The first two swings produced a positive signal that was his wedding ring. Jared was surprised that we had a successful recovery in such a short time. I give him credit for calling me ASAP. Metal detectors are a great tool to find rings but it takes a little experience to be able to use one. Timing is more important for rings lost in public areas. I love being able to use my experience using my metal detector to help others who have lost sentimental keepsakes.

***Hubert and his wife were driving from central California to Riverside, CA. when his wife lost her white gold diamond engagement ring came off her finger. She was sitting in the front passenger seat rolling the ring with her fingers on her right hand. Hubert had to hit the brakes when the car in front of him suddenly stopped. Her ring few somewhere in the passenger side of the car.

They spent three days looking all over the car. The ring had to be there but it was not to be found. They called me after seeing on line that I did car searches for lost rings. I have been able to find rings in vehicles using a endoscope camera because my metal detectors are useless in cars because of all the metal. It’s not easy to find a ring in a car because there are more nooks and crannies for a ring to hide. The cost to have a seat removed by the service center mechanic can be ridiculous and they might not have a incentive to find the ring.

I can search a large area in sand or grass in a couple hours, but it may take a couple hours to probe many of the hiding spots in a car with a endoscope camera. It’s a tedious endeavor. After talking with Hubert explaining how and what I can do to help him, I drove 50 miles to Riverside, Ca.

We met in the parking lot of his hotel. I grabbed my endoscope camera walking to his car. He told me that he was going crazy searching such a small space without finding the ring. I consoled him explaining how many hiding spots and how these rings can find their way into these places while driving. He opened the two passenger side doors and pushed the front seat forward to show me the heater vent. We both saw the ring laying on the carpet in plain view. Even though he had thoroughly search that spot several times, the ring must have been up under the heater vent. So time in his last couple drives the ring worked itself out of its hiding place.  You never know, it could have been intangled in his wife’s clothing and dropped outside the car when she got out.

Happy couple after three upsetting days of trying to find a most cherished and irreplaceable ring.

Call ASAP .. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have about how the service works.. “I WILL TRY ANYWHERE “ Stan … 949-500-2136

*** Brandon’s bother called me asking if I was available to search for a ring his brother lost at Doheny State Beach, Dana Point, California.  He said his Brandon could not meet me till late this evening.

I explained, it always increases our chance for a successful recovery if he could get me close to the area of the loss. For now, I would drive to the location to give it search, because it was a public area and may get found by someone that doesn’t know how to find the owner.

The ring was lost out of a baby stroller in the dry sand at the towel line. When I arrived at the location that Brandon’s brother had given me, I located a silver colored ring. I didn’t even check it for the inscription because I was told it was a tungsten ring.

After gridding the area for almost a hour, I couldn’t locate a tungsten ring. Returning to my car to call Brandon for more information, I looked at the silver colored ring which was marked Plat. and had the exact inscription that was given to me. It was Brandon’s ring .

I made the call and he met me an hour later to pick up the ring..

I WILL TRY ANYWHERE.. Call now for information on how the service works.. Glad to help you.

*** George’s wife called me asking for help finding his  gold wedding ring. He had worn this ring for over 30 years and had never lost it. Today it came off his finger while brushing sand off his leg at San Clemente Beach, CA.

I assured them I could find the ring if they could secure the area and wait at the site. There was a possibility that they could not stay at the location because of previous reservations. I agreed to get on the road right away. Understanding that they may have to leave the site before I arrived.

Traffic was not bad which made my drive time about 30 minutes. When I arrived a car was pulling out of a front row parking place,  which was a miracle. George’s wife was in the parking lot to direct me where George was waiting for me.

The beach was crowded but he had secured the 20’x20’ area. As I started my grid search there were no metal signal, then I got a good signal that sounded deep. Usually a fresh dropped ring isn’t very deep. This was a heavy ring more than  a foot deep in the very soft sand. It is most likely that the ring dropped deeper as they dug in the sand with their hands.

The whole family was relieved and surprised after we retrieved the ring. Before finding TheRingFinders service George had thoughts about returning the next day with sand sifting equipment. This can also be a waste of time for many reasons. It is real common to get to a search where the people had spent hours/days searching with sifting equipment and borrowed or rented metal detectors. Often the ring or piece of jewelry is just missed because of poor equipment . An experienced person with a professional metal detector can usually find the missing article. If it’s there we can find it.

I am here to help you find your sentimental lost metal object.. “I WILL TRY ANYWHERE “  .. Feel free to call to ask any questions about how this service works.. Stan .. 949-500-2136

*** Frankie called saying he believed his white gold wedding band might be near lifeguard tower 20 at Bolsa Chica State Beach.. He had only been in a small area close to the lifeguard tower. He was working and couldn’t meet me. No problem this time, I did a  thorough search with no sign of his ring.

I called him just to let him know it wasn’t there. That’s when he apologized for giving me the wrong lifeguard tower number. When he told me  it was lifeguard tower 21 , I went there and found his gold ring 10 minutes into the search.

Frankie picked up his ring the next day after work.

*** Jessy had lost her white gold diamond wedding ring in the backyard of her home in Fullerton, CA. She was throwing a ball when she felt the ring fit off her finger. Her husband searched for it in the lawn with a inexpensive metal detector. He also climbed on top of the patio to see if the ring ended on the patio roof.

Hiedi, Jessy’s mother had a friend that had successfully recovered her ring in Maui, HI. using Dave Sheldon who has Dave’s Metal Detecting Service. So, Hiedi figured there must be someone here in SoCal. A quick google search turned up my contact information and we were connected. It was late in the day but I figured we had enough daylight to do what I thought was going to be a easy search.

I arrived at the home and began a grid search of a small lawn area, no ring. I used up all the daylight search the lawn many more grid than normal. It was dark when I began to probe in the thick dense shrubbery against the wall. They were certain that the ring didn’t go that far.

This thick ivy-like shrubbery was difficult to maneuver my detector through and the darkness was also interfering with completing my search. I asked if they would be here tomorrow so I could finish the shrubbery search. Then I got a signal high up on  the climbing ivy ( maybe 3 feet) .. When I probe into the foliage with my pinpointer, I lost the signal. That happened three times as the target dropped. Finally I called Jessy over to give me another set of eyes . Bingo!! it was her white gold diamond wedding ring.

Everyone was surprised and happy, it wasn’t looking very good as I used up all the potential hiding places. This small area took close to two hours and would have been very easy to give up, but giving up is not an option. I love doing this even when it gets tough.

Don’t give up .. Your valuable is not lost forever. Call an experienced metal detector expert. Stan the Metal Detector Man is available to help you now…I WILL TRY ANYWHERE… 949-500-2136

Lost a Ring at a SoCal Beach in the water or dry sand .. Call the Metal Detector Man .. 949-500-2136

*** Mike and his family are visiting Newport Beach, CA. from Canada. He was in waist deep water when he felt his ring slip off his finger.

He found my contact information on line, calling me for information on how the metal detecting service works. I gave him a short explanation of how we can work with the low tide as he was in the water at high tide. I did come to scan the upper dry sand just to eliminate that possibility.

The best low tide was at 2 am in the morning. I used photos Mike sent me get landmarks that would narrow the search area. I arrived before low tide as this is a beach that is heavily hunted by other detectorists. It took about 45 minutes of thoroughly grid searching the low tide zone till I found Mike’s ring.

I contacted him the next morning with the good news. I was able to deliver the ring to him as he was staying in a hotel and he had been using Uber to get around town ..  I can’t always guarantee a recovery in the water as sand conditions can vary and many times people lose rings I deeper water. I this case we had a successful recovery because we tried. Conditions were perfect.
