THE MOWER, THE COMPOST HEAP, AND A LOST GOLD RING

  • from Farmington (Connecticut, United States)

I got a call on this cold fall day from a gentleman who had lost his wedding ring while mowing his lawn. He was pretty sure it had slipped off as he emptied his clippings into the compost heap. When I arrived, we had two options: a 50-square-foot patch of lawn where he routinely dumped the bag, or somewhere inside the tall pile of wet, decomposing grass. I started with the lawn, working slow, deliberate passes, and a few minutes in the detector gave me a clean tone. There was his gold wedding band, saving us both from digging through that compost heap.

Moments like that are why I do this. It’s about what the ring means to the person wearing it, and I get to be the one who puts it back in his hand.

If you’ve lost a ring, earring, watch, or anything metal in your yard, a field, or the water, don’t give up on it. I serve Hartford, Litchfield, and Tolland Counties with metal detectors and underwater search gear. There’s no big upfront bill: just a small gas callout fee, and the rest is reward-only. Find me on Facebook at Ring Finder — Farmington at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61590834025433 or text me at 860-559-9843. The sooner you call, the better the odds, because it’s usually still right where it fell.
