Lost ring found in Parkersburg West Virginia

I received a call from a gentleman who had lost his wedding ring back in early December. We arranged to meet at south side Parkersburg Kmart where, while selling Christmas trees for a charity, he lost his wedding ring In the thick grass by the road. We met and discussed where he thought he was working, what he was doing etc. We figured out an area and I started gridding it off with my metal detector. There was a LOT of signals(trash) and it was going to take patience. After an hour, the gentleman had to leave so I continued on with my search. 1-1/2 hours after I started, I got the signal I was looking for!! Nestled under the grass out of site was his beautiful gold wedding band. It is now back with him!

Lost pistol, not a ring found with metal detector

I was contacted a couple days ago by a gentleman whose grandson accidentally dropped a pocket pistol in the Muskingum River about a month ago while running bank lines for catfish. We made arrangements to meet and we hopped into a John boat and up the river we went. I just took my powerful magnet hoping we could just pick it up with that. I didn’t want to get into the river with my metal detector because I knew it would be “mucky” and cold. After several minutes and attempts with the magnet, it was obvious that I was going to have to go into the river. We met the following day with my wetsuit and MD’ing gear. Up the river once again to the spot in the river where they was sure it would be. I can only detect in water that is around chest high. We spent about an hour and exhausted the area I could comfortably reach. In a last attempt, I walked in chin deep water holding the metal detector out as far as I could in deeper water and finally got a shallow strong signal I was hoping for but there was no way I could scoop it up out there. Thankfully I had brought my magnet back out with me and we was able to get the magnet on the pistol!

Lost engagement ring found with metal detector

I received a call from a good friend in Georgia back in March. He tells me about his wife losing her engagement and wedding ring along a highway. He had a rented metal detector and he said it was going crazy with all the trash along the road. I was able to hear thru the phone what the detector was doing so I was able to help him with his settings to aide in his search. He eventually found the wedding band but not able to locate the engagement ring. That really bothered me cause I knew it couldn’t be far but a 9 hour drive kept me from going. Anyways, here is the story from my friend Jason from Georgia.

“Your ring is still there,” said Steve, trying to reassure me over the phone. I had given up hope. On March 3 my wife lost both her wedding band and engagement ring on the grassy shoulder of a two-lane highway in rural Georgia. I rented a metal detector and contacted my friend Steve in Ohio for advice since I knew he had experience with this sort of thing. Thanks to his guidance, I located the wedding band, but after returning three times to search with my rented equipment, I finally despaired of ever again regaining my wife’s engagement ring.

Then Steve came down to Georgia for some turkey hunting with me. Six weeks had passed since my wife lost her ring, but one afternoon on our way back from the field, he suggested that we go have another look. Even though I had little expectation that we would find the ring, I agreed.

The rough grass along the road’s edge was now twice as tall. We found plenty of buried aluminum cans and other random garbage. I felt like we were wasting time, but Steve was not dissuaded from his task. After searching for about an hour, his equipment gave him the kind of strong reading that he was hoping for. “This could be it,” he said. Something small and round was sparkling in the sunlight as the detector’s coil swept the grass to and fro. We both knew what it was.

I had spent more than twelve hours searching that highway shoulder with speeding automobiles whizzing by just a few feet from my head, without finding that elusive engagement ring. Now Steve, with his experience and advanced equipment, had located the ring in barely an hour.

That evening I surprised my wife with the ring, and her relief and elation was a thrill to behold. Thanks Steve

Beautiful ring lost in river found!

Well, it happened again. I was contacted by a young lady over a month ago and she tells me that she lost her ring while canoeing the little Hocking river on July 31st. With all the rain we have had, it took until today before it was slow enough for us to make the trip. This hunt was the toughest yet. The water was fast and cold! Well, here is her story of the days events!

On March 21, 2017 my sister in law (The Original Katie Kittle) took her life. She was an amazing person and the life of the party. Since she passed I have been wearing three of her rings (I had them soldered together). I cherished being able to have something of hers with me every day. During a canoe trip with my friends on July 31, 2018 my canoe tipped and I lost Katie’s ring. I was devastated and heart broken. I’ve had many sleepless nights and I was calling all the local canoe liveries on a regular basis to see if anyone had found it. When I called in August the canoe livery told me about a man who had just found a woman’s wedding ring and about the website theringfinders.com. I immediately went to the website and found Steve Wagner. 68 days after loosing Katie’s ring Steve, myself, and my friend Joselyn took the same canoe trip. Joselyn and I showed him where we tipped and using his metal detector and other tools he found my invaluable ring in less than 2 hrs. Wow! What a weekend I had!! I went kayaking for a friend’s bachelorette party in the Hocking River. I ended up falling out of the kayak and losing my engagement ring, wedding ring, and my anniversary band in the river! I was completely devastated! After finishing up the river route, we went back to try to find my rings. The water was high and muddy, the currrent was fast, and it just felt like a lost cause. After returning home, I was searching online for some sort of way to attempt to find my rings. I came across this website. I thought it was a « shot in the dark » but definitely worth a try to get my rings back. I emailed Steve because he seemed to be the closest person to where I lost my rings. Within a half hour, he emailed me back. He said that he would love to try to find my rings and that he could meet me sometime THAT AFTERNOON!!! I was completely grateful that a complete stranger would be willing to take time out of his afternoon to come help me look for my rings. I believed that he was sent to me from God!

We met at the canoe livery to go back to the area where I had fell out of the kayak. He was very professional and allowed me to show him where I was in the water before he began his search. As he was searching, all I could do was pray that he would be directed into the right area where my rings were lost. Then, a lady was coming down the river in a kayak and did exactly what I did in my kayak (except I fell out and she didn’t). I pointed that out to Steve and he went right to that area to continue his search. Immediately, he said, »Now, don’t get too excited but I have a really strong tone here in this area ». He took his scoop and scooped that area to check for my rings. After scooping, he said, « Well, I still hear a tone there but since your rings are in two separate bands, I am gonna bring this one over to the sand bar (where I was standing) ». He dumped that scoop out and right on the top, fell my anniversary band. I was so completely overwhelmed with emotion that I grabbed the ring, put it on my finger, and began to scream and cry! Then, he said that he was going to go back to that same area because he still heard a tone there. He scooped again and brought it over to the sand bar to dump. After rummaging through the rocks and dirt of that scoop, I saw my engagement ring and wedding ring at the bottom of that pile!!!! I was so so grateful and excited that he found all of my rings that I put it on my hands, still dirty, and again screamed and cried! I was so happy!! Steve, then, asked to help me wash the rings before we left so that they would be clean again. I cannot thank this wonderful, God-sent angel enough for retrieving my rings for me!! I would definitely recommend this website, and especially Steve, to anyone looking for a chance to find their lost items! He is a great guy and truly enjoys this hobby of his!! Thank you again so much Steve for what you have done for me and my husband! This will be a story that we are going to tell everyone that we know so that we can spread how wonderful these people on this website can be!

A tip that helped me tremendously was when we saw the lady go sideways in her canoe and hit the log and about fall in, Lauren immediately pointed it out to me that that was what had happened to her so I then could visualize where she went in. Earlier I had taken an old ring of mine and tied it to a piece of fishing line, waited out into the current and dropped the ring in the water and noticed that the ring had only gone 2 to 4 feet downstream before it hit the bottom.

Lost wedding ring found in Parkersburg Wv

I received an email recently from a lady in Parkersburg and she tells me that she lost her wedding ring and is “heartbroken”. We exchange phone numbers and decided on a time. I arrive and after introduction, I ask how she lost her ring. They both laugh(her and her husband) and she said….”well…..I was mad at him and took my ring off and threw at him!!”
I told her that more rings are lost that way that you realize. I took an old ring of mine and ask them to get to the spot where they were and throw the ring again. She thought I was crazy but assured her and she let it fly. I watched the ring so I had a trajectory and distance. After a short grid, I realized that she was mad so the ring probably went further. A short hunt and 10’ further I found her ring!! I found out that it was handed down to her from her mother in law. No wonder she was “heartbroken”. It was a good day!!

Lost wedding Ring found at Strouds Run

I was contacted by Derrick and we made arrangements to meet on 4/21/17. here is a quick summery of the days events in his words;

About seven months ago I was playing volleyball at a local state park with a few members from church. It was a hot day, and my ring which was a size too big would often slide off my finger. After about an hour or so I noticed my ring was missing. My friend and I looked all over and were unable to locate it. The following day I purchased my own metal detector to try and find my ring, but I had no luck. 

I contacted The Ring Finders in hopes of throwing a Hail Mary. Steve did a phenomenal job and was committed to finding my ring. It took him all of four hours to locate it. The ring was in perfect condition. I would highly recommend these guys.

Another property pin found. Not a ring.

While metal detecting an old farm, I had a gentleman stop by and inquire about my metal detecting. After talking and telling him the story of finding the property pins, he replied « I have a pin that needs located, do you suppose you can find it? » I said that I would « give it a try » and off we went. He said that he could get me within 10′ of the pin! After about 1/2 hour and 40′ from where he thought the pin was, I had found it. He was surprised and relieved that it was found. It’s not jewelry or family heirlooms but I still enjoy helping people find lost metal of all kind.

Lost property corner pins….Not a ring

December of 2016 I received a call from a gentleman not too far from me. He found me on the internet searching « Marietta metal detector » He was wanting to locate his corner pins of his property and was going to buy a metal detector to locate them. After seeing my ad here on The Ring Finders, he decided to see if I could locate them instead of the purchase. I told him « I’d do my best » and made arrangements to meet up. I never thought it would be that hard to locate the pins!! I did find 2 rather quickly but the other two was very difficult. We ended up getting the Deed to the property and found the other ones using references in the Deed. The pins were located and he was very happy. He insisted on giving me a donation because as he stated « Metal detectors and surveyors are NOT cheap! » Just glad I could help!

Forked Run state park beach, another men’s wedding band found

Of course I had to take my metal detector with us on or family vacation to the beach. Long story short, I found a child’s costume ring and a men’s wedding band. No one at the beach nearby had lost it so I placed an ad in the Outer Banks Craigslist lost/found. The owner has yet to be found. The ring was found around 6/23/16. Anyone know of anyone who lost a men’s wedding band before that date please let me know!

 

8/5/2016 I headed to Forked Run state park to hunt the sandy area of the beach. I decided to use my Garrett AT Pro in the water at the beach and see what’s out there. A few coins, a costume pendant and a men’s wedding band was found. I took the wedding band to the campground check in and filled out a lost/found tag and turned it in to the park ranger. Hopefully the rightful owner will show up and claim it. Finding these items are fun but nothing is more enjoyable than reuniting them with the owners. Steve
