I got a call from a gentleman who had lost his wedding ring a couple days ago. They had just bought a house a few days earlier and he was cleaning up all the weeds, vines and bushes to make it look nice again.

When I got there, he said he doubted we would ever find it. He showed me the property and suggested starting in the backyard because that’s where he had worked the hardest and had put gloves on and off several times.

I looked around and could see metal fences and stakes all around. When I got started, the detector went crazy with all the below ground metal. The property had probably been occupied for over 200 years, with lots of activities in that yard.

After doing about two thirds of the back yard and investigating many possible signals, I got that magic tone! Good numbers, tone and double beeping for a surface object. In the fading daylight I saw a tiny glint of gold color. I motioned to him to come out and watch. I parted the thick grass and pulled out his ring and he let out the loudest happy hoot!

We were both so happy and he said now he might take his wife’s recommendation and get his ring resized a bit 😊
