Ring recovered in Pacific Grove!

  • from Carmel-by-the-Sea (California, United States)

In all the excitement of Car-Week on the Monterey Peninsula, many families come out to see all the flashy sports cars and picnic on the beach. Junior must have executed quite the ace-serve playing beach volleyball with his kids, because his 24k white gold and diamond ring went flying into the pea-sand and vanished.  This all went down at the John Denver Memorial rock in Pacific Grove. He told me the story, we used some deductive logic, walked over to the likely zone, and in three minutes time, a reliable 19 kept ringing on my Nox, next to a big boulder. It took some persistent scoop work but out popped this beauty. It’s always fun when the caller gets to reach in and pull the wedding band out of the basket! Congrats Junior, you’re out of the doghouse!

From Russia with love.

Got the call last night, rolled out of bed, slapped on the headlamp and headed to Carmel Main. I found a large group of tourists who had come together to help these newlyweds find the guys massive platinum band. They had marked out a perimeter, the beach can be confusing in the dark, which made it quick work for me. It was quite a party, with a happy ending for all. 😎👍

Newlyweds get a happy ending

Panic at 10pm, as Teddy and his young wife from Macedonia reached out to ring finders. After an exhaustive night search on a chilly carmel beach, even having recruited passers-by, they wisely staked the site with driftwood and sent me a text. My mentor Tom and I met up with this really nice young couple next morning but unfortunately, they had three ideas where it (the golden band with a lot of sentimental value) went missing. Tom covered the parking area and bathrooms, I hit the beach. Teddy had taken a picture

when they laid out their towels ( this was key) so I worked in concentric rings from the driftwood and BANG a loud 17 on my NOX and out popped his wedding band! HAPPY ENDING!

Ring found on Carmel By The Sea Beach

  • from Carmel-by-the-Sea (California, United States)

It was a very dark night on the windswept Carmel Main when I got the call, and although we had a bit of a language barrier, I was able to make out « Sunset, ring, lost, beach, Carmel, help, you have machine. » I grabbed my detector, scoop and all-important headlamp and headed out to the beach. The young couple from Italy had been enjoying an iconic California sunset, and as darkness fell, the young guy, wiping sand off his shorts, wiped his wedding band right off his hand, and right down a sandy slope. They wisely marked the spot they were at with a backpack, and so when I found them in my headlamps beam, I turned on my machine and I got to work. I swept in concentric circles from the backpack spot for about twenty minutes, chatting about how much I liked Italy when I visited as a teen. Unfortunately, we found nothing but aluminum pull tabs. Things looked grim. I figured maybe the ring flew farther than they surmised, and maybe some unlucky foot traffic also slid the ring down hill. I worked my way down slope and eventually, I did get a « faint 11 » on my Equinox. Sadly, after three or four attempts, the signal disappeared. I walked back up the slope, and asked the young lady if there happened to be anything shiny in my scoop, she reached in and pulled out their white gold wedding band held it up and cheered. Disaster averted, and I got a huge hug from her, than one from the guy too! He gave me some « American Dollars » as a reward, and I even got an invite to Italy!  I was happy to send the now much happier couple off to Morro Bay, to continue their vacation!
