After recieving a call from Bob, telling me he had lost his wedding ring which slipped off his finger, while putting his boat cover on his boat. He told me his ring slipped into the water which was only a few feet deep. The problem was the lake bottom was extremely soft and murky.
I did not hesitate to agree to help look for the ring, my worry was the lake bottom was too soft and the heavy gold ring could have sank deeper than my detector could detect it at.
As soon as I got to the location and stepped into the water I could understand what Bob was talking about, I sank knee deep into the muck. My initial thought was this could be a problem.
As I waded out towards the spot Bob thought he dropped his ring, it was getting harder to get my legs out of the much with each step. Thankful it was only 10 to 15 feet from the shore and the water was only 2 ft deep.
It wasn’t long before I was able to get a strong repeting signal on my Deus2 and when I stuck my hand into the muck, I immediately felt the chunky ring in my hand.
I got out of the water slowly before I handed it to Bob who was so happy to get his ring back.
Here is a link to the video of the recovery. You will notice I tried to hide the find so I could record Bobs reaction lol.
