THIS IS AN OLD RECOVERY THAT I JUST FOUND THE INFORMATION I NEEDED TO POST IT.

After a long day of beach hunting at Sea Cliff Beach on March 22, 2023, I decided to go to a local park in Aptos, CA. There was also a dog park there and I chose to detect there first. Among the several modern coins and vaccination tags for dogs, I found a heart shaped silver dog tag engraved with the name Laika. There was a phone number on the other side. I called it and spoke to Laika’s owner. Laika was still alive and well. The owner made the silver dog tag themselves and was relieved to hear that I found it. I mailed it to the owner and they sent me a pic of Laika wearing the name tag.

Ben called me on the early evening of July 6th from his home in Nolensville TN and told me that he lost his gold wedding band in his front yard. He was tending to some plants and his hands got wet. His ring fell off of his ringer, bounced off a concrete wall and landed in a flower bed. Ben spent three hours looking for the ring, but couldn’t find it. He did an online search for a metal detecting service in Nashville and my profile on TheRingFinders was the first thing to pop up. I was at Ben’s house in about 30 minutes. After he re-created what he was doing when the ring came off his finger I powered up the metal detector and got to searching. I used my pinpointer to probe around the base of a flowering bush and got a strong signal at the base of the stalk. Ben’s ring was down about 2” in the wet mulch and bark mixture. One of Ben’s neighbors across the street congratulated Ben, and he said he had no idea that there was an online directly of metal detectorists that go around finding people’s lost jewelry. I provided Ben with my card, which has a QR code with a link directly to my RingFinder profile so he can spread the word to his friends, family, co-workers and neighbor about TheRingFinders directory.

Matt called me on July 4th, 2026 after losing his ring in his back yard. He was training his dog on the agility course he has in the spacious back yard, when at some point he lost his ring. What worried Matt was that his landscaper was coming on Monday and feared the ring would either get damaged or flung far, far away. Luckily my plans for going out on the lake today for our Independence Day celebration was a few hours away, and Matt lived less than 30 minutes away. Matt was shocked when I told him I’d meet him within the hour. Traffic was light, so I got there on 35 minutes. Matt showed me the areas in his yard where he had been and just as important where he hadn’t been. Luck was on my side today. I started the search out in the middle of the yard near the flexible tunnel and the second target with my metal detector was Matt’s ring. According to my timer the recovery took a mere one minute and 12 seconds. Matt didn’t see me find the ring, so I surprised him by saying his ring wasn’t in the backyard like he suspected. He had a puzzled look on his face. I told him, “because it’s right here in my hand!” Matt was beyond dumbfounded and was basically speechless for a minute. Matt was very grateful for my immediate response especially on a holiday and the almost instant recovery of his cherished silver, tungsten carbine and diamond wedding ring. Matt admitted that before finding my info on TheRingFinders directory he was looking online to either rent or buy a metal detector to use himself to look for his ring. He then realized that he had no idea how to use a metal detector and it would most likely be a big waste of his time and money, and I could not agree with him any more.
