Chris lost her very special ring which she had bought for herself decades earlier while serving in the United States military in Turkey. The irreplaceable treasure consisted of an 18 karat yellow gold band with 45 diamonds perfectly placed throughout the exquisite « super bowl » sized ring.

I received my client’s distress call one morning hearing great desperation in her voice to have me visit Chris’ Washington DC home where she believed her ring was still hiding somewhere even after a week of seemingly disappearing into thin air!

While talking with Chris on the phone, she explained that she couldn’t remember where she took the ring off. Usually she had a specific spot where she would place the unusually large diamond sentimental keepsake. However, in this particular situation, she was completely perplexed by her very special ring’s disappearance.

Chris remembered having it on her finger the previous Thursday and then that weekend is when she realized that the diamond covered gold jewel was not on her finger and nowhere to be found throughout the house. One of her young nephews who was visiting that weekend testified to seeing the ring on the kitchen counter. Chris was not able to reconcile the reason why she would have laid it on top of the counter and had no remembrance of doing so. After I finished asking all of the pertinent questions regarding this particular lost ring mystery, we set up a time for me to visit Chris’ Washington DC home.

The next day I arrived at the property and Chris and her grandson shared the whole story all over again just to make sure that I was not missing any important details. In my professional opinion, the two places that were the priority spots to search were the kitchen and the deck where most of the bags of garbage were piled outside. There were also a couple of trash cans below the deck that also needed to be checked. I was so proud of Chris and her husband George for not putting the garbage out by the curb many days earlier. Even though they had already gone through the bags, scouring for the gold and diamonds once before, they didn’t want to let go of the contents until after the ring was recovered.

I gave a thorough scan of the kitchen, looking in all of the obvious and non-obvious spaces and it was my determination that the ring was not hiding in that room. If it was truly seen by the young man during the family party over the previous weekend, it was certainly not there any longer. It was at that juncture that I felt it best to metal detect all of the garbage dating back to over a week prior.

In order for me to effectively metal detect the trash, I requested that Chris’ grandson supply me with extra bags to transfer each piece of rubbish from the original bag to the fresh new one. There were several large trash bags that were full of garbage. I went through them piece by piece, metal detecting everything until I concluded that there was no ring hiding in any of those bags that were on the deck. It was a smelly and slimy job but it had to be done!

Next, I began metal detecting all of the bags that were contained in the garbage can located adjacent to the deck near the driveway. Once again, it was determined that my client’s ring was not in any of those specific plastic bags either. Finally, I attacked the last trash can full of throw-a-ways.

On the bottom of the last trash can to search were all kinds of grass and weed clippings that took up two thirds of the container. The top third possessed more trash bags. After inspecting all of the contents in the first bag, I pulled out an average looking white colored grocery store bag from the remaining pile and noticed it was tied completely shut. It was heavy, filled with lots of small, soft and wet items. Immediately I raised the bag up and scanned every angle of the plastic with my detector to see if there was any metal inside of it. It turned out that there was a small piece of metal sealed up in the bag.

Next, I brought the bag down to the ground, punched a hole in the plastic with my finger, stuck the end of my handheld device into the mushy contents and began searching for the unidentified piece of metal. As I’m doing this I looked up at George who was talking to me from the deck and I asked him, « When was the last time the family ate white lentils? ». He responded something like, ‘Maybe around a week ago’. This would have put this food in the time window of when Chris’ ring disappeared.

Once I pinpointed the exact location of where the mysterious item was hiding in the lentils, I placed my fingers into the bag and slowly pulled out the small metal object. As I’m bringing my new find half way out of the bag I could see something gold-like in color partially shining between my fingers! It was what I was looking for! I found it! I discovered the missing diamond ring! I was beyond elated at that moment! George was in disbelief until I stepped up onto the deck to show him! I immediately ran into the house and yelled out loud, « l found it! I found it! » I took off down a particular hallway to Chris’ office where she was talking to her supervisor on the phone. « Chris! I found it! Yes way! It was in your trash this entire time! » My client was blown away by the news and we gave each other a holy hug filled with excitement and relief! She couldn’t believe that it somehow ended up in the grocery bag full of lentils! Chris and George were so very grateful for my expertise and relentless efforts to recover the beautiful diamond ring.

After lots of hugs and high fives with the family, I packed up my things and we all said our goodbyes to one another. It really was an amazing experience just as I have had many others similar to this one in the past. However, every time another ring recovery like this one takes place, its like it was the first time all over again!

As I drove away, I waved goodbye to Chris’ grandson who was locking the gate and then I headed down the District of Colombian street wearing the biggest smile on my face that one could ever display! I was so happy that my mission was successfully accomplished!

Peyton had no idea what happened to her beautiful and irreplaceable yellow gold, 2 carat solitaire diamond family heirloom engagement ring adorned with multiple baguette diamonds wrapped around the center stone along with multiple round shaped diamonds, as well.

I received the phone call from Peyton several days after the ring went missing. She and her husband Oliver searched everywhere in the house as well as out by their deck in the backyard but the sentimental keepsake did not turn up anywhere.

Peyton was concerned that the ring may have gotten lost out on one of two public parking lost while she was shopping. I had asked my client if she applied lotion to her hands while she was in her vehicle at the time that she went out shopping. She replied by sharing that she did in fact apply lotion and took off the ring before she lathered her hands with the lotion. However, she believed that she put the ring back on her finger after she took care of applying the lotion.

I was so happy that this couple found me on the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS. Once I got all of the details from the couple, we made plans for me to come out the following evening (two days before Christmas!).

The couple was devastated when the engagement ring (which ones belonged to Oliver’s grandmother) ended up disappearing. The two of them had plans to get married just 4 months later in the month of April. Therefore, this loss was very difficult for not only Peyton and Oliver, but also for Oliver’s mother who passed it down to her son to give to his future wife.

When I arrived at the Washington DC property, the couple took me through the house starting on the first level and then we moved our way up to the second floor. There were quite a few areas where the ring could have gotten lost. And of course, there was the possibility that it made its way out of the house and was lost in a public environment. The last place that I was taken to was the basement where the laundry area was located. I told Peyton and Oliver that there was a chance that the jewel could have ended up in the washing machine or dryer. If we had to, I would check out the coin catcher to see if the ring ended up in the washing machine.

After I was oriented around the house, I told the couple that I would start my « investigation » upstairs in the master bedroom. Though Peyton and Oliver checked every square inch of the room, I felt it was the most viable place to start my search.

The first place I checked was Peyton’s nightstand on the right side of the bed. I checked the drawers and all around the floor near the piece of furniture and everything was clear of the gold and diamond ring.

Next, I took my special equipment used to probe spaces and cracks where the eye cannot see into various spaces and searched areas under the bed mattress. While I was checking the bed frame slots (one at a time), I picked up something on my probe screen that looked like a piece of jewelry. Just as I was moving the head of the instrument into a new position, I heard something fall from within the bed frame and land on the carpet below. I immediately looked in the direction of where the object came to rest on the carpet, and there it was…the most beautiful and huge diamond ring! There were diamonds all over this large piece of yellow gold! I was beyond excited! I couldn’t contain myself! The entire time the engagement ring had been stuck somewhere in the cross frame of the bed mattress! Even though the couple had lifted up the large king size mattress, neither one of them had spotted their beloved prized possession! What a thrill it was to recover such a special sentimental keepsake!

When I revealed the ring to Peyton and Oliver, the two of them couldn’t believe what their eyes had beheld! Every time I get to surprise my clients, it’s moments like these that makes searches like this one so well worthwhile and gratifying! Now Peyton was ready and able to wear her beautiful diamond engagement ring on the day of her wedding just four months into the future!

Parents of American University Student in Washington DC Lose Engagement Ring on Campus…Found After Hiring Ring Finder

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Debra’s exquisite platinum engagement ring with hinged band and 2.75 carat cushion cut diamond… miraculously recovered from the road after the jewelry was run over by vehicle tires!

Debra and Mark so very happy that their very special diamond engagement ring was recovered – both band and stone!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Cliffs, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

Debra and Mark flew in from San Diego, California to visit their daughter at American University as she was settling in at her new school. The three of them went for a tour around the campus and during that time Debra lost her beautiful and most sentimental keepsake – her engagement ring. The piece of jewelry consisted of a platinum band with a hinge (for opening and closing the band over the knuckle of Debra’s ring finger) and a 2.75 carat cushion cut diamond secured within the lovely setting.

The family walked about 200 yards from the university school buildings down to a grassy area where the three of them sat and relaxed in a lovely serene environment. Then, they returned to the main campus drive and walked back up a steep hill in the direction of the educational buildings that they had originally came from.

As soon as the family reached the top of the hill, Debra realized that her irreplaceable diamond ring was missing from her finger. She had suspected that the hinge on the band must have opened up while she was brushing off some dirt from her pants when she stood up off of the grass down by the pretty field where they sat. Immediately, the group headed back to the grassy area to look for the lost jewel, but unfortunately all of their efforts led to no avail.

Sometime during that same day, Debra and Mark went on to the internet and searched for help and that’s when they found the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS. Soon after searching for a local metal detectorist, I was contacted by the couple.

I was so happy to come out to American University in Washington DC to assist Debra and Mark in their quest to find their lost sentimental keepsake. When I arrived, I contacted the couple and we arranged a place for us to meet. They would be coming from one of the educational buildings and would walk down the same hill where Debra realized that her precious jewel was no longer on her finger. I encouraged the couple to keep their eyes focused on the concrete just in case the hinge of the band opened up somewhere on their walk back up the hill after hanging out in the grassy area.

I am so excited to share that as I met up with Debra and Mark in the middle of the road, part way down the hill, there it was…the hinged band… right there in the middle of the concrete paved drive! As I studied it carefully, it was quite apparent that it had been run over by a vehicle at least once! I couldn’t believe what I was looking at! However, just when one would think that there was light at the end of the very dark tunnel for my clients, unfortunately that light turned out to be another oncoming train! Upon looking at the damaged platinum band, there was no diamond secured within its setting! It was gone! The immediate thought was that perhaps a tire tread picked up the 2.75 carat cushion shaped diamond and carried it away up the campus road! That very moment was extremely stressful for the couple in realizing that If that theory was accurate, they would never see their special jewel ever again!

Even in the midst of such a crisis, everyone leaned down towards the road and carefully searched for the diamond. Then, perhaps a minute later, Debra let out an overwhelming cheer and an extreme sigh of relief! She found the diamond, her precious and most beautiful piece of ice was lying on the concrete perhaps a foot or so away from where the band had been identified! All of us together could not believe the outcome of this unbelievable recovery! The couple thanked me over and over again for encouraging them to keep their eyes to the ground and for my assistance as we all rendezvoused at the spot where the jewelry was found!

For the next 45 minutes, there was such a spirit of elation that each one of us experienced right there on the American University campus! It was an indescribable time of celebration and excitement! In less than 24 hours, my clients would be leaving on a plane bound for their home in San Diego and Debra and Mark would be boarding with that beautiful « symbol of love » that represented that special moment in time when Mark popped the question…and Debra of course answered a resounding ‘yes’!
