Ring found in the sand Frankfort, Mi

  • from Traverse City (Michigan, United States)

I was traveling to a different call tonight and got a call from Chase lost his very sentimental ring in the sand at the Frankfort beach in Frankfort, Michigan. I told Chase I would come tonight its a public beach with a lop of traffic. I did not want anybody else finding the ring if we waited till the next day to search. The first call ran late so I did not make it to Frankfort till 9:30 pm. Met Chase and two of his friends. We headed to the spot they were throwing a football to start the search. They did a great job getting me in the spot. It took about 10 minutes to find the ring. We were headed out of the parking lot at 10:00 pm. This was a nice short search, I enjoyed it and made Chase a happy man to get the ring back.

Three 250 lb anchors found in Lake Michigan at Eastport, Michigan

  • from Traverse City (Michigan, United States)

I received a call from Nancy that the sand had moved and they cannot find the three 250 lb anchors they use to anchor there boat in Lake Michigan. The blocks weight 250 lb each and have a re-rod hook in the top.

She needed this done asap due to the dock being installed in 3 days. Its a lot easier finding the blocks before the dock is installed. I could not make it till the weekend, so, I had my backup go. His name is Dave Coates, he has over 100 ring returns to his credit. The more impressive part is 90 percent of them were before the internet was invented. Dave said it took about an hour to find all three blocks. They were out in neck deep water due to Lake Michigan is about 2-3 feet above normal lake levels right now. Dave did not get any pictures of the blocks so I attached a picture of Dave on another call with me.

I did a grid search of the area and found the ring in 45 minutes. I was happy to help out and meet Brian and his wife.

Lost Wedding ring found in the snow at the Grand Traverse Academy in Traverse City Michigan with a metal detector

I received a call from Anthony’s wife that he had lost his Wedding ring at work. I met Anthony about an hour later and found out what had happened. He had children outside on a nature walk at the school he works at. He felt his ring slip off his finder but could not concentrate on looking for it due to the children he had to keep an eye on. He came back after work and walked the area but could not locate the ring. The snow was about 5 inches deep in the area Anthony took me to. I started a grid pattern and walked about 8 feet and found the ring. It was stuck in the side of one of the footprints from them walking in the area earlier. I always like the easy short hunts.

Gold Wedding band found in the water Glen Haven, Michigan with a metal detector.

  • from Traverse City (Michigan, United States)

I received a call from Derek about losing his wedding band in waste deep water in Lake Michigan at Glen Haven, Michigan. Derek said « we have a problem. » Glen haven is in the lower peninsula and Derek and his wife Dorothy are in the upper peninsula headed toward Wisconsin. They are doing a circle trip around Lake Michigan. I told Derek we had no problem, we just needed to use the US Postal service to get this done. I got a good location from Derek. Straight out from the walkway and the water was waist deep. I drove the hour up to Glen Haven spent 6 minutes in the water and got the ring. I put the ring in the mail Monday morning sending the ring to Pennsylvania. Derek and Dorothy were very happy to get the ring back, its a family heirloom from Dorothy’s grandfather. A couple days later I got a nice hand written letter of thanks in the mail. I also appreciate the reward very much.
