Marquis was out in his uncle’s fenced-in yard working with his dogs when he made a sudden motion with his arm and unfortunately his awesome gold ring went flying. Unable to find it, he went and got a metal detector. This yard happens to have a lot of electromagnetic interference along with many false targets making it nearly impossible for a first time detectorist to make any sense of what they are hearing. Luckily he discovered Ring Finders and contacted me. I was able to get out there the same day and after about a half hour of searching found the ring hiding in the grass. I’m very happy to be able to help with another recovery.

Angel was out in the yard with her dog when it picked up a pine cone. When she took it away and threw it into a tall row of thick vines and thorns that runs along the property line, she saw her wedding rings go with it. After searching the area, even on hands and knees, she was not able to find the rings. One of her friends did a search on their phone and noticed The Ring Finders site which led her to call me for help. The search area was difficult due to the thick vines and thorns along with two layers of fencing, one metal and the other wood. The metal fence along with the nails in the wood fence made detecting a challenge, but I searched around the area trying to ignore some metal sounds while listening for the rings. I didn’t have any luck so I asked Angel to go over the details again. As I listened and watched the throwing motion, I noticed a small hole in the wall of vegetation and wondered if the rings could have flown perfectly through that hole without touching a thing. Sure enough a good 15 or so feet away in the neighbors yard behind a tree was the first ring of the set. Searching downhill from there I soon found the other ring about 6 feet from the first. I was very relieved and happy to be able to help Angel find these.

Riley’s husband accidentally dropped his wedding ring off the dock after a swim in the lake. They searched for it, but unfortunately were unable to find it. That was about two and a half years ago, then Riley contacted me relaying the story. Her anniversary was coming up and she hoped to surprise her husband by returning the lost ring. We scheduled a time to meet at the lake, when her husband was away on a trip. She remembered very well where the ring dropped which was a huge help in narrowing the search area. The bottom of the lake angles toward deeper water, so I figured it probably slid and settled a little farther out from where it originally fell. I heard a few signals as I waded out into the water, and it didn’t take long before I heard what I was listening for. The ring was about 5 inches down in thick clay-like sediment. I was so happy to be able to help Riley with her very thoughtful anniversary gift to her husband. She was able to surprise him with it only a few days later.

Tim was taking care of some yard work and playing with his dog when he felt his wedding ring fly off in the backyard. He and his wife did a thorough search and even raked the area, but could not find it. He contacted me on Sunday and I was able to head right over. After hearing the details, I searched the most likely area and was able to recover the ring. I am very thankful to be able to help another young couple.

Aaron was enjoying some fall fun with his family at the beautiful Endless View Farms when his ring fell off in an enormous pit full of corn that was set up for everyone to play in. They searched for hours, but had no luck. After Aaron left, the staff told me that another person with a metal detector searched the corn, but also could not find it. When he got home Aaron contacted me and I was able to get to the farm the next day. I ended up getting there a little ahead of time so I headed to the pit. After a few minutes I got a faint signal. I moved away about a foot of corn and it got stronger. About 2 feet down, there it was. Soon after, Aaron arrived and I was able to meet him with good news and put the ring back in his hands where it belongs.

Emily was traveling from the west coast to visit her family, enjoying some backyard sports, games, and family fun when she discovered one of her rings from her wedding set was missing. They searched and even tried a little metal detecting, but unfortunately couldn’t find it. Emily contacted me the next morning and I was able to get there within a few hours. Emily did a great job working through and eliminating the most probable sites to really narrow the search to a smaller area of the yard. After my initial scan of the area there were several targets, but none on the surface, and none that sounded like a gold ring. We talked through the possibilities again, and she mentioned that they had spent some time sitting on the cement patio. I had already walked near that area, but was getting interference from the concrete. On the second more detailed search around the patio I was able to listen through the noise and catch a steady signal from the ring just a few inches off the cement into the grass. It was so nice meeting Emily and her family. They are really great people and I was so glad I could help find this lost ring.

Matt was playing with his kids last evening at the elementary school when his ring fell off in the thick grass. This ring is special to his family because they all played a part in its design. Unfortunately they were not able to find it, so Matt marked the area and contacted me. I was able to meet him at the school the following morning. He did a great job narrowing the search area, so it didn’t take long before I found it. It was great to meet Matt and I was really glad I could help recover his ring.

Jonathan called me last night. He was at one of the local parks playing sports with friends when his necklace chain opened and the ring that was hanging on it fell off. This ring is a gift from his mom for his 18th birthday. The park is only about 20 mins from my house, so I jumped in the car and headed right over. Unfortunately it was getting dark, raining, and there was lightning nearby.  We searched as long as we could, but decided to meet back there in the morning at 7 am. After about 40 minutes I was able to find the ring hiding in the thick grass of the play field. I was so glad to be able to help Jonathan and his mom. They both work hard in our local healthcare system helping people when they really need it.

Kyi is a really nice guy who contacted me about his wife’s lost wedding ring. Unfortunately her bag was accidentally left on the back of his pickup truck’s hardcover. As they were turning onto a main road, they noticed when it fell over and off onto the side of the road. Some items were missing including earrings and the wedding ring. They were able to recover the earrings and Kyi searched hard for the ring, even buying his own metal detector to help.  He could not find it and a few months passed before he found the Ring Finders site. I was able to meet him the next morning and he gave me a good description of the search area. Being along the side of a busy road there were a lot of metal bits that got hit by the big roadway mowers. After a few hours of removing most of the metal signals from the area I found something I really didn’t want to see. It was almost half of a woman’s white gold ring very bent and scratched as if it may have been hit by the mower more than once. I felt really bad for Kyi and his wife, but at least now they know what happened.

Megan contacted me because her husband’s ring came off while they were enjoying a beautiful natural water slide a few weeks earlier.  I was able to search the water at the base of the slide the next morning. After a few hours I found a men’s white gold wedding band about four feet under the water. Mission accomplished I thought, but then I remembered that the ring had a special inscription. The ring that I found did not have any markings other than 14k. I sent Megan some pictures and she confirmed that this unfortunately was not the ring!
What are the odds? Of the hundreds of rings that I have found, I had never found a white gold ring, so it seemed unlikely that there would be two very similar men’s white gold rings in the same exact spot.  I had searched thoroughly, but went back a few days later to make sure I didn’t miss the other ring. After a few more hours, I was sure the ring was not there.  A lot of the water is clear enough to see to the bottom, so I am afraid that someone must have picked it up. I really wanted to find this one and hated delivering the bad news.
On a positive note, this was such a beautiful place to search.  My wife is not normally with me while I am detecting, but with my medical issues I have some limits as to how far I can drive and she was nice enough to drive me. We have been through a lot with my illness and are getting ready to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Because she was there when I found my first white gold ring and it happened to be a nice ring in my exact size, I decided to adopt this ring as a replacement for my own lost white gold wedding band. A nice memory out of a failed search effort.
